Doesn’t everyone love Ice Cream?

Don’t you love Ice Cream on Hot Sunny Days?

Phoenix is one of the warmest places in the country so you’d think it could be a mecca for interesting chilly delights but sadly it’s not.

Well I don’t think Phoenix loves Ice Cream. Phoenix does have a FEW VERY GOOD if not Great independently owned Ice Cream Parlors but instead of a short car ride it’s more like a 45minute destination trip to find one.  Maybe with in 15 miles of most homes most people can find a chain ice cream shop.

I think I liked Dairy Queen when I was a child maybe it just doesn’t taste good in Arizona or just from this one shop near my house? The Dairy Queen near my house in Phoenix doesn’t sell me good tasting vanilla soft serve or maybe I hit them when they make the OFF batches? I don’t know.

Everywhere I lived before Phoenix had little Mom and Pop Ice Cream Shops that were able to stay open just a few months a year offering their unique concoctions.  Like the swirled flavors and the pre made dipped treats. They all closed when the weather turned cold and then turned into Christmas Tree Shops. I remember most of them opening up Memorial Weekend and Closing sometime around Thanksgiving. The lines at these ice cream shops were always long and these places were a neighborhood gathering. I was also fortunate  to live near different dairy’s that had their own ice cream shops offering interesting delights like Fresh Blueberry Cheese Cake Ice Cream.

When I have guest over that want to go out for ice cream they are surprised about the lack of ice cream shops in my area and we drive 15 miles for just a Baskin Robbins.

I Scream

You Scream

Phoenix doesn’t Love Ice Cream they are just infested with frozen yogurt shops.
