Your Food will Taste Forking Better if you just Get Rid of Your Regular Table Salt

IMG_1823

There is a whole world of salt out there. Why the FORK would you even think of using harsh, metallic, heavily processed table salt when you can use natural mineral rich salt that taste better and actually taste less salty. When you use table salt your food doesn’t taste as good. Better tasting salt helps your food to taste better.

The work horse of the kitchen is kosher salt. It’s less harsh and better tasting than table salt. it works wonders with meat.

The Grey Sea Salt has the most taste. Not sure how to describe it and it’s a sort of briny taste but it doesn’t seem like too much salt. Maybe it’s a balance thing?

The Pink Himalayan salt is suppose to be among the healthier salts with more minerals than most other salts. To me this one taste like kosher salt but that might be because of the grind I have. Maybe it’s normally smoother than what I have.

I like the Australian peach colored flake salt. It’s mild and delicate with an interesting texture. You don’t cook with this salt as it is a finishing salt.

Mediterranean Sea Salt is better tasting than regular kosher salt. Less salty, smoother.

The Salt in the middle of the plate is Red Sea Salt. One web site claims that this salt is number one for mineral content. There is something smooth and delicious about it. It’s almost sweet. I’d sprinkle on desserts. It taste like it would go really well with dessert if you want a little smooth salty crunch.

Lastly the most interesting of the salts is the Blue Persian Salt. It was hard to photo but here is a close up.

IMG_1822

Here is another Photo.

IMG_1828

It looks like blue in the salt but I read that it is an optical illusion. It’s the only salt I ever tasted that has a cooling sweet finish. It’s also far more expensive than all the other salts. I purchased a small amount just to try it out. It cost about $5.00 for about 3 ounces. I’m thinking this might be very good to rim an alcoholic drink with because of the unique complexity and smoothness.

You opinion may differ from mine but that is the Forking Truth From Me.

Your Food will taste Forking Better if you just get rid of your Forking Table Salt because there is a whole world of salt out there and ALL OF THEM ARE FORKING better than table salt.

My Forking Review of Strawberry Shortcake M&M’s

IMG_1970

Strawberry Shortcake M&M’s are special edition M&M’s that are only sold at Target Stores. These M&M’s have a white filling that is suppose to taste like strawberry shortcake. The M&M candy shells are colors of pink, cream and white. The Bag of strawberry shortcake M&M’s comes in is a pastel pink color and features the Green M&M on the bag holding a tasty looking strawberry shortcake on a plate.

I thought I might like these M&M’s for two reasons.

One- I like strawberry shortcake and…….

Two – last month Walmart sold some sort of special edition chocolate covered strawberry flavor M&M’s that were good and seemed natural tasting.

The FORKING Truth is that these Strawberry Shortcake M&M’s to me taste exactly like strawberry artificial drink mix that is blended with vegetable shortening and covered with that sugar shell.

These M&M’s to me seem like a FORKING GLOB of vegetable fat that’s chemically flavored with something that reminds me of strawberry. After trying to let the candy melt in my mouth it now feels all greased up like I was forking sucking on vegetable shortening. These M&M’s don’t melt in the mouth….

The strawberry shortcake M&M’s are among my least favorite M&m’s that I have  ever tried. The flavor for me is too artificial and the greasy non-melting texture I find stomach turning. I’ve tried other flavors of white chocolate M&M’s before that didn’t seem greasy to me so the greasiness of the strawberry shortcake flavor was very unexpected.

Your opinion may differ from mine but to me these strawberry shortcake M&M’s are forking gross and this bag of M&M’s is now in the trash.

NOT Worth a FORK!

NOT Worth a FORK!

My mouth is still forking greasy.

My Forking Review of the Microplane Spiral Cutter – Doesn’t Make the Cut

IMG_1814

I came across the Microplane Spiral Cutter at HomeGoods for about $10.00. It sells on line for about $15.00 and it’s an interesting color of green. It’s small and doesn’t take up much room if you want to keep it to give to someone you don’t like.

I thought Microplane was a trustworthy brand so I took a chance on this one because the Paderno and KitchenAid Spiral Cutters BOTH don’t spiral cut carrots.

IMG_1805

It promises to make spiral cuts and ribbons and shows attractive carrot ribbons on the box.

IMG_1815

This is all you forking get when you insert a carrot and do a few inches of twisting.

IMG_1803

The FORKING TRUTH is that you get little uneven broken shreds that aren’t ribbons and a big waste of carrot that looks like a tiny skinny forking penis-

IMG_1803

that leaves you unsatisfied and longing for more.

Not only will the Microplane Spiral Cutter put a cramp in your style it will also put a forking cramp in your hand. It doesn’t fit well in your hand and your hand quickly gets a cramp.

IMG_1813

The Microplane Spiral Cutter is hard to clean.

Little pieces of carrot doesn’t come out of the sharp blades and it stains easily and looks like a dirty toilet bowl after only a few twists of use. This photo was taken after scrubbing. Even after a ride in the dishwasher it looks the same.

"Looks like a Forking Stained Toilet Bowl"

“Looks like a Forking Stained Toilet Bowl”

This small hand held tool is money down the toilet if you keep it.

Like I said…….

NOT WORTH A FORK!

IMG_1407

Back to HomeGoods and I’m getting my $10.00 back even if I can’t get the all the forking carrot or the carrot stain out.

The Forking Truth is that the Microplane Spiral Cutter does NOT make carrot ribbons as promised so for me The Microplane Spiral Cutter is NOT WORTH A FORK!

NOT Worth a FORK!

NOT Worth a FORK!

Donuts are Forking Still on the Rise in The Metro Phoenix Area

IMG_8484

Mmmmm………. Donuts!

Glazed Donut from Bosa Donuts Phoenix AZ

Glazed Donut from Bosa Donuts Phoenix AZ

Donuts are forking still on the rise in the Metro Phoenix area. There is even a bigger wHOLE world of them out there since last year. Bosa Donuts are a local chain that’s mushrooming everywhere all over the metro Phoenix area. Ten years back it was the yogurt shops opening up all over and soon after were the cup cake shops. I haven’t noticed new yogurt shops or cup cake shops opening but, donuts are another story. Over the past couple years Donuts are still on the Rise and still going strong.

Donuts are eaten in every culture out there and there sure a still a forking lot of love for donuts in the Metro Phoenix Area. When I did a search for donuts in the metro Phoenix area and the choices turned out over 2,800 places out there.

Orange Pistachio Rollover Donuts Phoenix AZ

Orange Pistachio Rollover Donuts Phoenix AZ

A successful Hot Dog Truck, now a successful brick and mortar Hot Dog Restauranteurs opened Rollover Donuts. They feature some unique gourmet flavors of donuts and if you don’t get there at opening time your selection is somewhat limited. I tried an Orange Pistachio Donut. It had great flavor but was less light and airy to what I’m used to. Still a tasty donut.

Beyond Donuts and Cafe Glendale AZ

Beyond Donuts and Cafe Glendale AZ

Beyond Donuts is a small cafe that offers a very limited selection of donuts along with breakfast burritos. The donut I tried was nicely prepared, seemed oil free and was tasty and accented with cinnamon crumbs.

Welcome Chicken and Donuts

Welcome Chicken and Donuts Phoenix AZ

Successful restaurant-owners and Chefs of the Welcome Diner opened up an Asian Inspired Fried Chicken Restaurant that also makes donuts called Welcome Chicken and Donuts. I had a Key Lime Filled Donut here and although it lacked enough filling this was the most delicious and almost perfect donut I tried the whole year. It was light and seemed oil free. The filling tasted really perfect with the right bite of lime. It was smooth and not too sweet but sweet enough.

Desert Donuts Anthem AZ

Desert Donuts Anthem AZ

A few of the newer donut shops I tried were what they call interactive donuts. The store makes you your donuts fresh to order and you have your choice of two of many toppings for your basic cake style donut. Desert Donuts is an Independent donut shop that offers the interactive style of donuts. The donuts I tried from there were hot and fresh as promised and they offered not all but mostly traditional toppings. I had the Boston Cream donut here. The cake donut was warm and fresh and seemed very light and delicate. They dipped it in fresh chocolate icing and spooned some filling on top.

Fractured Prune Doughnuts Phoenix AZ

Fractured Prune Doughnuts Phoenix AZ

Fractured Prune Doughnuts is a National Chain of the interactive donut. A new location recently opened near me so I wanted to try them. The donut I got was on the greasy side and I couldn’t identify the blackberry cobbler flavor I asked for. My donut had what they called glaze topping that tasted like flavored pancake syrup to me.

Fractured Prune Doughnuts are a favorite to many so that means there is a donut out there for every taste.

There is a wHole world of donuts out there. Don’t know what I’ll forking try next.

Donuts are Forking still on the Rise in the Metro Phoenix AZ Area.

FORKING Dishonest RESTAURANT Reviews and DRUNK MONKEYS

IMG_1649

I was browsing a certain review site and noticed THREE reviews already posted for a restaurant that isn’t due to open till May 2016.

THE FORKING TRUTH is that this is dishonest and unethical. Anybody past the age of 7 should know you can’t review a place you haven’t stepped into.

The Restaurant isn’t even open yet.

That is a WTFORK!

Now that is FORKED up!

Now that is FORKED up!

I do understand that this restaurant has other locations and some people might feel like they already know the place. I also note it is possible these reviewers might have been to another one of the restaurant’s other locations………But this is still a WTFork! BECAUSE THEY HAVEN’T FORKING been in this restaurant yet.

Nobody wants to read a review when the reviewer hasn’t even forking set their forking mouth and teeth in the restaurant yet.

Doesn’t anyone manage this site?

I let this review’s site’s local and head office know about this and sent them both a “Tweet” because I’ve found that sending them questions threw their site is useless and nobody ever  replies.

The least I would expect was a reply that they aren’t perfect and stride for perfection or some kind of rubbish like that. Instead nothing from them.

The Forking Truth is that they don’t have the

IMG_1668

MEATBALLS to reply to me.

Over the past several months I called this review site on a couple other things I noticed.

I noticed the review of the day was for a restaurant that was temporarily closed for business. I thought that review was very unhelpful for me and a review of a restaurant that was open for business would be a better choice. Again no reply.

Recently I also noticed  that an individual reviewer posted 46 reviews on one day on this particular review site. Any person with a working brain knows nobody goes to that many restaurants in a day, week or month. There is no credibility here when I see someone do something like this. Doesn’t this site have any rules. I contacted this site about what I noticed and asked how many reviews a day can someone post. Just like all the other times nobody replied to me.

Again no forking meatballs.

Tweets, contacting threw customer service and also contacting via talk don’t do a wee bit of good. Here is the FORKING TRUTH of what happened when I contacted them threw the talk page for a problem I had with their restaurant reservation service. This is the forking response I got.

IMG_9801

It makes me think this site must be ran by forking drunk monkeys.

IMG_1667

Well here is to all the no replies and the one worthless reply . It’s the Raspberry you are getting the FORKING Raspberry!

And That’s The Forking Truth

UPDATE! The review site removed the three reviews for the unopened restaurant. 2-8-16 after letting them know four days back.

Even more forking food that isn’t right. Fondants that are FORKING icing fondant

and something completely different that really annoys me……

IMG_1137

The Forking Weekend Brunch. Not all but it seems like MOST really nice restaurants in the metro area just offers a weekend BRUNCH.

Sometimes restaurants do less business for weekend lunch and must run with less staff to be open. Less staff and fewer menu items help with food cost but that isn’t appealing to everyone.

IMG_1136

I REALLY forking hate brunch. I usually can’t eat out during the week and I’m not going to drive across town on the weekend to eat eggs, french toast, pancakes or forking oatmeal.

I want to have something nice like a fancy entree salad. Maybe a house roasted or house smoked meat sandwich on quality bread with maybe some sort of fancy farmers market side dish. I want something nice, something that inspires me and something that is worth driving across town for…

Usually going out to eat is special and enjoyable.

However filthy Salt and pepper shakers, Chipped glassware or plates, dirty anything that I have to use, dirty floors, food that isn’t right and Weekend Brunch are some of the Things I FORKING HATE that some Restaurants offer.

New Restaurants Usually have Hiccups and Fusion can be Confusion

Inde Fusion Scottsdale AZ

Inde Fusion Scottsdale AZ

I recently went to a beautiful new fusion restaurant that offers a different twist on fusion. This restaurant is sort of global cuisine but uses Indian spices and Indian techniques to prepare food however I found that new restaurants almost always have hiccups and that fusion can be confusion.

I know you are always taking a chance when you dine at a newly opened restaurant. It sometimes takes time for them to get their groove and function like clockwork. Things just don’t always go as planned.

On my visit I found that some things I tried I found superb and amazing. I found a couple dishes to be confusing and lastly the dessert I tried was just forking wrong.

Things started out wonderful. The atmosphere is swank and roomy with interesting accents like these beautiful interesting lanterns and chandeliers. The colors of the interior are rich and warm. Our server was very welcoming, friendly  and pleasant. I started with the most interesting hot tea selection I’ve ever seen anywhere.

IMG_1416

A glowing box contained samples of high end interesting tea for you to sniff.

I soon ordered the organic ginger snap tea and it arrives in an interesting pristine clean vessel. It was a joy to drink! I haven’t enjoyed tea this much in a long time.

IMG_1417

Many interesting choices are offered on the menu. It was hard to decide.  I notice that the menu might be pork free and only has maybe one selection of beef.

We decide to split two appetizers and split a lunch.

We started with the salmon croquettes.

IMG_1420

The croquettes were crisp, seemed oil free and were just bursting with interesting flavors and the raita sauce complimented them just right. I was so happy at this point because everything was so great! I thought this was the start to a five star experience. I could have eaten a sack of these little salmon croquettes they were that tasty!

Then came the Szechuan Chicken lollipops.

IMG_1422

The lollipops had a nice crisp crust that had a little heat in them. The crust itself was tasty and might have had Szechuan Peppercorn in it. The chicken was cooked nice but not developed with flavor.  Slightly bummed at this point because I’ve had other chicken lollipops that were much tastier. Then my heart sank a little more when the same raita sauce I just had came again came with the chicken because I thought a Szechuan sauce was sort of needed here for something called Szechuan Chicken Lollipops. For me this was some fusion confusion. Maybe a hiccup because it’s a new restaurant. I peeked at the online menu since I don’t recall what I read in the restaurant and the online menu states different sauces.

Now our tandoori chicken sandwich arrives.

IMG_1425

I imagined receiving a wildly flavorful chicken on my sandwich. I received plain pressed chicken breast on a fresh roll with mint chutney and a sriracha aioli was on the side. This was nothing like what I imagined the sandwich would be like because when I think of tandoori chicken I think of chicken that was marinated and seasoned with something like cayenne, chili, turmeric and paprika and I certainly don’t think this chicken was cooked in a tandoori either. For me this was more Fusion Confusion. Again not bad food …..but not how exciting I thought it would be. I was confused because I thought that Tandoori Chicken would taste like tandoori chicken. The Sriracha aioli sauce on the side was tasty and I wasn’t sure if it was a dipping sauce for the fries or a spread for the sandwich. This was more confusion for me.

I do have to say not a forking thing was wrong with the masala fries as they were delicious and additive. I would certainly recommend ordering the masala fries.

I saw chocolate fondant on the menu so I wanted to give that a try because you don’t see chocolate fondants on many menus. A fondant is a small but rich French kind of Chocolate Lava Cake.

I imagined getting something like this……… warm with a molten center. It’s usually made with high end chocolate and is very satisfying.

IMG_1450

Instead I got a cold but attractive lump of chocolate sugar paste. I received a lump of chocolate (laced with orange) fondant frosting.

Inde Fusion Scottsdale AZ

Inde Fusion Scottsdale AZ

Can’t blame this on fusion confusion this was forking just confusion.  It makes me sad that the chef clearly isn’t a pastry chef but I do note they used good quality chocolate. I am also concerned that the management and all the employees working there don’t have a clue on what a fondant is.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to alert them about the fondant because it was complimentary given to me by the management because the original lunch I ordered wasn’t ready to be served but I was going to order this dessert anyway.

New restaurants usually have hiccups and fusion can be confusion.

Your most likely not going to drive across town to dine here but if your in the neighborhood this place is suggested.

Your most likely not going to drive across town to dine here until they work things out. If they work things out there is potential here for destination dining. Some things were OUTSTANDING…some things need some work…

Sandwiches that are most Worth Mentioning in the Metro Phoenix Area

The Rueben Rueben From Scott's Generations Phoenix AZ

The Rueben Rueben From Scott’s Generations Phoenix AZ

I haven’t tried every sandwich out there in the Metro Phoenix Area but I have tried quite a few and these are the sandwiches most worth mentioning of what I tried recently.

Scott’s Generations is among the few places in the Metro Phoenix Area that serves up respectable tasty Pastrami on double baked seeded rye bread. The pastrami is full flavored and peppery and not too lean and not too fatty. It’s just right! I do warn you that the sandwich is enough to feed two-three people so your going to hurt yourself if you attempt to eat the whole forking thing. Scott’s Generations is also one of the few restaurants I know of in the area that also offers belly lox and sturgeon.

Rayner's Chocolate and Coffee Shop Phoenix AZ

Rayner’s Chocolate and Coffee Shop Glendale AZ

Rayner’s is a small English Cafe,  Bakeshop, Chocolate Shop, Coffee Shop and small goods store in Glendale AZ. They call this sandwich, “Best Grilled Cheese in The Whole World Sandwich.” Well the forking truth is that it’s NOT the best grilled cheese in the whole world sandwich but it is the best tasting vegetarian sandwich I had in a long time. The chef made tasty sauces on the right vegetables with that white rye bread are extra special, not too heavy and you might have room from very good fresh baked treats or the best hand made chocolates around.

Nocawich Tempe AZ

Nocawich Tempe AZ

While Scott’s Generation’s is known for dependable respectable good pastrami ….It must be said that the Wagu Pastrami from Nocawich in Tempe is your special occasion pastrami. It’s prepared in house and there is no other like it in all of the Phoenix Metro Area. I just wish it was piled on a little thicker. It’s luscious, it’s smokey, it pops with flavors and is a special occasion treat.

It has been noted in many publications that the “What the Cluck” chicken sandwich is the best sandwich from Nocawich but I haven’t been able to try that one as of yet. Nocawich is also known for other highest quality sandwiches, baked goods and triple fried French Fries. I do note that this restaurant is located by ASU and the atmosphere was terribly loud when I was there.

Cafe

Old Town Sarajevo Phoenix AZ

Bosnian Sandwiches on UNIQUE Bosnian fresh made to order bread are served at Old Town Sarajevo in Phoenix AZ.  The bread is uniquely light textured like a donut and is a slightly greasy. The specialty is the house made case-less spicy beef sausage. The condiment you use here is ajvar that made from roasted red peppers, eggplant and spices. It’s worth a trip here because the atmosphere. It’s like a town from a Disney Park gone Bosnian and most of the customers are Bosnian.

Beef on Weck from Taste of Buffalo Glendale AZ

Beef on Weck from Taste of Buffalo Glendale AZ

The Beef on Weck Sandwich is normally only served in the buffalo area. This sandwich is served on a hard kaiser roll brushed with caraway seeds and salt. Inside the sandwich is a big mound of tasty medium rare beef (well closer to medium) served on a dipped roll with au jus and fresh horseradish. A delicious sandwich that you can get at A taste of Buffalo in Glendale AZ.

Noble Bread Phoenix AZ

Noble Eatery Phoenix AZ

Most of the best restaurants of the Metro Phoenix area feature Noble Bread. Noble Eatery is a very small counter with a few tables that offers a daily changing menu of a few locally sourced fruit or vegetable dishes, a couple crusty flat fresh baked sandwiches and smorgas. Smorgas are chunks of heirloom grain Noble Bread usually served with a vegetable or Italian tuna, grain and bean mixture.

This tiny restaurant is very similar in food style to Pane Bianco. Both are rustic with an Italian accent and relay on simplest high end ingredients for comforting flavor.

Both restaurants serve fresh made to order crusty local heirloom grain flat bread sandwiches that look similar with quality fillings. I must have been to Pene Bianco over half a dozen times but haven’t been there recently because they took my favorite sandwich off the menu and changed my husband’s favorite sandwich from the original menu. The current sandwiches are very good too. The recommended sandwich has always been the hand pulled mozzarella with tomato and fresh basil from Pane Bianco.

Neither Noble Eatery or Pane Bianco have a public restaurant so you are not going to travel from far to dine at either restaurant.

Banh Mi Sandwich

Banh Mi Sandwich

Bahn Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery offers tasty Bahn Mi Sandwiches and more. They offer TEN kinds of Bahn Mi Sandwiches on rice and wheat flour baguettes. You get that crunch and soft center with all those tasty fillings of pickled carrot and radish, crunchy cucumber, fresh cilantro and house made aioli. This restaurant is a favorite among locals for the tasty food and low prices too!

Cheezheads Peoria AZ

Cheezheads Peoria AZ

Cheezheads of Peoria AZ is worth mentioning because they make the tastiest cheesesteak we’ve found so far. The roll is a little on the soft side and would be elevated with toasting but it is a fresh baked roll prepared in house and it’s good. The filling is ribeye steak that is very tender and seasoned just so. It’s a very good sandwich that deserves a shout out

One of the tastiest sandwiches of all came from a not necessarily a sandwich shop but what might be considered a complex.

Ocotillo Phoenix AZ

Ocotillo Phoenix AZ

The Tandori Sandwich from Ocotillo Phoenix AZ. This sandwich was interesting and complex. It was just bursting with all kinds of flavors and made with high quality very delicious chicken. The bread also seemed like it was fresh made.

A honorable mention has to go to Rocket Burger in Phoenix AZ.

Rocket Burger is a casual budget eatery that offers a variety of burgers that are hand packed angus beef in various sizes along with many other items.

It must be mentioned that Rocket Burger offers a forking GIANT wall of bottled sodas for you to choose from.

Rocket Burger also offers many other sandwiches. Recently I had the Mexican Spicy Fish Sandwich.

Rocket Burger Phoenix AZ

Rocket Burger Phoenix AZ

Breaded Cod topped with an extremely flavorful and surprisingly delicious slaw. I washed it down with a dry cucumber soda.

These were the Sandwiches Most Worth Mentioning that I tried in the Metro Phoenix Area.
