My Trip to Ellie’s Restaurant – (Chinatown) – Las Vegas NV

Ellie’s Restaurant is a Chinese Restaurant located in the Las Vegas Chinatown. This restaurant offers a menu of Chinese Style Breakfast dishes and also according to their website authentic Chinese Dishes(?).

It was very crowded when we arrived but we were lucky and got a table.

The tables are squished together without much room to walk across.

The chairs are uncomfortable and the chairs also stick out into the aisle.

Anyways-

I get some hot tea.

It’s not filtered. Oh well.

We order an appetizer of salt and pepper pumpkin.

And for our main dishes we order chicken with kung pao sauce and Szechuan beef.

The first plate to arrive was the chicken in kung pao sauce.

This is good. The chicken is tender and the sauce is spicy but not too spicy. It’s just missing the peanuts. Shouldn’t kung pao have peanuts? I read that authentic kung pao should have Szechuan peppers in addition to chili pepper. This is spicy (mild spicy…not real spicy) but I don’t get any Szechuan pepper here.

The next plate to arrive was the Szechuan Beef.

The beef is tender but this dish isn’t spicy at all. It tastes like beef in beef gravy with a small splash of soy sauce. (WOW is my husband disappointed)

The last dish to arrive was the salt and pepper pumpkin appetizer.

It’s not what I was expecting but it was very tasty and good. Like all the other plates it was also a large portion.

That was my trip to Ellie’s Restaurant. I do note that others I know had different experiences than what I had.
