Marché Bacchus – Great Atmosphere and Lots of Wine – Get Desserts and French Dip – Las Vegas NV

Marché Bacchus is a contemporary French Style Restaurant and Wine Bar and Store located about ten minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. The restaurant has changed ownership a few times over the years. I read on www.360Vegas.com that Celebrity Chef Alex Stratta and his Executive Chef Dave Middleton created the menu but those chefs are no longer with Marché Bacchus. The restaurant offers a stunning lakeside atmosphere. It also offers over 950 choices of wine.

After multiple visits I can recommend getting The French Dip and the ever changing menu of desserts because both were so far delicious and top notch on all our visits.

Below is the chocolate tart with blood orange sorbet

The most disappointing plate here might be the HK Burger

The roll tastes burnt and the burger has almost no flavor at all. I was told that the burger is ground in house and the menu reads that this is a Linz (from Chicago) Angus patty. The burger comes with your choice of fries or a salad and at the time of my visit was $28.

Pictures below are from previous visits. All the desserts and the beef bourguignon was very good.

Stunning Atmosphere and lots of wine to try.

Some things are better than other things here so enjoy the lovely atmosphere, maybe drink some wine, and get the French Dip and the desserts!

The FORKING Las Vegas FOOD Buzz of the Week

The BEST of the week certainly was the multi course dinner from Bar Boheme.Everything was superb from service to food to wine pairing. Here are pictures from a couple visits.

Unfortunately there also was a worst of the week. The house made pastrami rueben from Fine Company was awful.

The pastrami wasn’t coked enough so the fat on the ends was so hard that you could use it as dental floss. The flavors were messed up too and were so unbalanced that you really mostly taste liquid smoke and black pepper. PLUS they don’t put much in the sandwich. Don’t know why but I brought half home and the pastrami and scant amount of cabbage inside only weighed LESS THAN ONE OUNCE.

Anyways in other FOOD News –

Las Vegas finally won another James Beard Award and it went to chef Sarah Thompson of Casa Playa

Another different James Beard Award something called “Classics” went to Bob Taylor’s Ranch House

Just thought I’d share what we tried at Bob Taylor’s Ranch House.

My Trip to Spicy Hero Sichuan Cuisine – Las Vegas NV – Not so much of a Spicy Hero to me

Spicy Hero Sichuan Cuisine is located in a small but busy mall in Chinatown.

Below is a small part of the inside. Before we ordered our server warned us that everything here is very spicy.

We started out by sharing the Sichuan Spicy Chicken with Chili Oil.

It’s sliced up chicken with bones, bone fragments, rubbery boiled skin, topped with mild chili oil and cilantro (this sure isn’t for everyone) It looks spicy but isn’t. It looks and tastes like they used sesame seeds instead of Sichuan peppers here.

Next was Eggplant in Chili Paste.

This is mainly eggplant in mild chili oil. Not spicy and not flavored with much.

Next was Spicy Stir Fried Beef (my husband asked for extra spicy hot)

This is the only one that had some heat to it. The beef is nice and tender but this one also has little flavor to it The heat is medium-ish-hot. If this was from a Thai Restaurant I’d say the heat is 2-3 out of 5 depending on restaurant.

Not so much the Spicy Hero to me.

Gjelina (Restaurant in the Venetian) Las Vegas NV is Worth a Try!

Gjelina is a contemporary restaurant and bar that is located on restaurant row in the Venetian Hotel/Casino. During lunch time they offer a menu with raw fish, salads, sandwiches, hand made pastas, wood fired pizzas, platters, vegetable sides, and more.

Inside are multiple dining areas and a bar.

We shared a vegetable side order of Oyster Mushrooms with Guajillo Pepper, and Cilantro-Avocado Emulsion.

Tasty – It’s almost like chicken taco filling. Somehow I almost wish this was a taco.

My main was the Blackened Sea Bass Sandwich withBlack Garlic Aioli and Slaw and house made potato chips.

This is harder to eat than it looks. There is a very generous amount of pickled vegetables under all that fish. It’s all very good but also hard to eat. The house made potato chips are also very good. Nice and crisp and seems free of oil.

My husband tried a Cured Chorizo Pizza (pomodoro, Calabrian Chili, Red Onion, Mozzarella)

They bring him seasonings too.

He said that this pizza was delicious and very good.

Gjelina is certainly Worth a Try!

The FORKING Las Vegas FOOD Buzz of the Week

Worst of the week (and one of the worst of the year) was Mountain Mikes Pizza. It was like a horror movie and also so bad that it was torture trying to eat it. Just terrible dense dough and the worst cheese that tasted and felt like it was mixed with saw dust. My slices didn’t have and sauce. Just the most terrible tasting pizza that I have ever tried.

Mountain Mike’s Lunch Buffet Pizza

So bad it made the birds sick by the front door.

Also tried the brand new Able Baker Bomb Shelter in Centennial. Not perfect but very good with lots of potential.

My Trip to Zippy’s at Camino Al Norte North Las Vegas NV

Zippy’s is a Hawaiian Based casual Fast Food Chain of Hawaiian Comfort Food restaurants with wait service and a limited bakery. They also have a very organized take out area.

A new location recently opened in North Las Vegas.

When dining in you check in at the hostess desk.

Then you get seated somewhere in the dining room.

I decided to try the Korean Salad today with house dressing.

It’s a plate of plain soft greens surrounded by tomato wedges and cucumber slices. It is topped with crispy sweet chicken nuggets. I note than I am not an expert on Korean cuisine but have had what they call Korean Chicken several times and none of the times did it taste just very sweet like it does here at Zippy’s. I think children would love this chicken but it is maybe a bit sweet for most adults. The house dressing is creamy but taste mainly like sesame oil.

My husband tried the popular plate what they call Zip Pac (pickled radish, rice topped with furikake, fried chicken, fried fish, Spam, teriyaki beef and chili)

My husband said his favorite meat was the Spam. He said the chicken was alright but a little dry today. The fish was a little fishy. The beef was tender but also was very VERY sweet (like the Korean Fried chicken). Macaroni salad was creamy like it is suppose to be. The furikake was a nice embellishment to the rice that you usually don’t get at most Hawaiian places.

We felt the need to try a dessert so we tried the dobash (chocolate chiffon cake with a chocolate pudding type frosting.

This one tastes like a box mix to me.

Arata Sushi – Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try!

Arata Sushi has two locations in Las Vegas. We went to the North/West location at 3250 N Tenya Way. It’s a smaller sushi restaurant that only offers soft beverages.

We started out by trying the tempura vegetables.

Everything was tasty and fried very well all shattering crisp and seemed free of oil. We got onion rings and all fried sweet potatoes.

For our sushi we got fresh wasabi.

Here’s the Nevada Roll (tuna, salmon, yellowtail)

All the sushi held together well and all the fish used seemed reasonably fresh.

The Spicy Tuna isn’t too hot and has a bit of a kick to it.

The Salmon Lover Roll came with a fruit sauce that was not mentioned on the menu. This roll has the most flavors going on with it but has an unusual creamy texture to it that was odd to us.

Las Vegas Restaurant Week – Cantinetta Pizza & Pasta – Extended to June 19TH 2026 (June 12TH for some)

Cantinetta Pizza & Pasta is a full service Italian Restaurant and Bar located in the Summerlin part of Las Vegas Nevada. They are a sister restaurant to Brunella (Italian Restaurant) that is located in the Sun City part of Summerlin. Both restaurants have a Sofia Loren theme going on.

Here is the 2026 Restaurant week menu from Cantinetta. It seems reasonably priced for a four course dinner.

Whatever you order they start you off with their own fresh baked bread and sun-dried tomato oil.

Our first courses were –

Arancini

Pear & Gorgonzola Bruschetta

Second courses –

Burrata Brûlée

Insalate di Pere

Main Courses (we both ordered the Branzino)

We were too full for dessert so we had two Limoncello Mascarpone Cakes to go.

The food was mostly delicious! This time service was a bit off because we had a brand new waiter who was a bit off.

That was a taste of 2026 Restaurant week from Cantinetta.

The FORKING Las Vegas FOOD Buzz of the Week

One of the best of the week was the Norwegian Salmon from Alchemist Bar and Restaurant. One of only a few restaurants in Las Vegas that masterfully prepares salmon with a crispy skin that STAYS Crispy. The flavors were also magical and the center of the fish was a nice medium.

The Fried Pizza from Good Pie was also FORKING Amazing. It’s so different and unlike any other pizza out there.

Everything there is amazing. Delicious fresh tomato sauce, creamy buratta cheese, fresh basil, parm, and this incredible light as feather crust……YOU NEED TO TASTE IT FOR YOURSELF. It seems so light and SO RIGHT!.

Worst of the week –

The pani puri from Hummus Club.

Menu reads savory mix of spiced potatoes, chick peas, and onions –

This is what they gave me.

No potatoes, No Chick peas. Instead corn, tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, lettuce. EVERYONE knows pani puri are always Potatoes and Chickpeas.
