My Trip to My Garage Kitchen – North Las Vegas NV

My Garage Kitchen is a garage themed family owned restaurant located in North Las Vegas Nevada. They are open for American Style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Inside is mostly traditional table seating. They do have a small bar and an outside patio.

I tried the Grilled Salmon.

I requested medium but was served well done. The server did offer to remake the dish but I just ate it anyway. The mashed potatoes are a very generous portion but are more like a smashed potato and is a bit dry. The asparagus are unusually great. Nice and fresh crisp and seasoned unusually well and also are a bit spicy.

My husband tried the patty melt.

He said that the patty is also a bit over done but tastes ok with all the cheese and onions. He also said that the rye bread was very good and he liked the onion rings. The server also offered to remake this one too but we were about 1/3 finished already by that time and didn’t want to start over.

Very good if you like your food all well done.

I suspect that breakfast might be the sweet spot here.

That was my trip to My Garage Kitchen.

Shuck’s Tavern Gaming and Oyster Bar – Large Portions, Reasonable Prices – Worth a Try!

Shucks Tavern Gaming and Oyster Bar is a 24/7 breakfast, lunch, dinner, a seafood heavy menu, and Gaming Bar and restaurant with two locations in Las Vegas. The Centennial location offers bar seating, traditional tables and booths.

On one visit I tried a Golden Cadillac Margarita. It didn’t have a traditional taste to me but it was so strong that it could do push ups.

Here’s the blacked salmon chopped salad below.

It’s a gigantic serving….(maybe they accidentally gave me extra?) It can feed 2-3 people. It’s nothing exciting but it is reasonably good.

My husband tried the Fisher Platter (Fried Haddock and Fried Shrimp)

It’s also a tremendous amount of food with a generous serving of tater tots.

Below is the grilled Haddock.

(all this food was $20. subject to change)

Below is the Jambalaya that was also reasonably good.

Large Portions of reasonably good food that is reasonably Priced.

Matteo’s Ristorante Italiano in Restaurant Row in the Palazzo at the Venetian Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork!

Matteo’s Ristorante Italiano is a North Italian Style Restaurant and Bar located in the Restaurant Row in the Palazzo part of the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. The menus change with the seasons but here are some of their offerings. At lunch time it looks like this.

Dinner looks more like this at dinner time.

On our first visit at lunch time they started us off with Ciabatta, Oil, & Balsamic. On our second visit for dinner nothing was complimentary.

Below are the Sweet & Spicy Peppers with soft cheese and adorned with pesto, grana padano, arugula, & oil.

Insalata Nizzarda – A bountiful salad of – Confit Blue Tuna, Seasoned Hard Boiled Egg, Olives, Green Beans, Potatoes, & Salsa Verde Aioli.

Below is one of the three Ligurian Focaccias offered.

The Ligurian Focaccia with mushrooms, asparagus, Italian parsley and squash blossoms that is stuffed with Crescenza Cheese….(This is expensive but amazing……..It’s different and more like a light as air balloon bread)

Gnocchi – Semolina dumplings, Pork Sausage Ragu, Onions, Spicy Tomato Passata, and Cheese

Casonzei – Veal & Pork filled Pasta with Pancetta, Parmigiana Reggiano, Sage, Brown Butter

North Sea Salmon – Crushed English Peas, Lion’s Mane Mushroom Duxelles, Black Garlic Sauce (This was the best salmon I had in Vegas so far. The meat was sweet moist and silky. Prepared medium and the skin was seasoned and stayed crisp like a potato chip.

The only dish I don’t recommend is the pistachio and chocolate gelato.

We enjoyed the fresh fruit but the pistachio the night we had it tasted weird and not like pistachio. Both of us didn’t care for the chocolate either. The chocolate tastes 1/2 espresso to me and only mildly chocolate.

Matteo’s Ristorante Italiano is With a Fork! If you skip the pistachio and chocolate gelato.

Dining With Dogs in Las Vegas NV – May 2025

Dining with DOGS is just a “Fuff” Story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my late dog Louie. He was elderly and came down with aggressive cancer. He couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed going out to eat so I took him out to eat as often as possible. Instead of his 3-6 month diagnosis Louie made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat when the weather is right and when I can.

We made it to Market Grill Cafe. It’s a Greek/Italian Restaurant in the Centennial Part of Las Vegas. This restaurant is really dog friendly as they even have a menu just for DOGS.

I enjoyed their signature pomegranate walnut chicken salad.

I didn’t give the dogs any chicken from this salad because I know walnuts are harmful to dogs. Don’t know about the pomegranate but I did give them some feta cheese.

My husband had a gyro bowl.

The dogs had some gyro meat.

The dogs had their own steak and rice bowls and a chicken and rice bowl.

Each dog had steak, chicken, and rice and a water bowl was served to them too!

The Dogs enjoyed dining out at Market Grill Cafe.

The next week the dogs enjoyed a variety of foods from our local California Fish Grill.

They got salmon and beans from my salmon power bowl with added avocado.

They also enjoyed crispy parmesan String Beans

And some breaded fish from my husband’s Fish & Chips plate and salmon and beans from my plate.

“yum!”

“Yum” “Give me more!”

The phone number for this restaurant I am not certain is correct because it is the same as the Fort Apache location 725-231-7444

This week we went to Those Guys Pies. If this restaurant seems familiar then maybe you saw them on Food Network’s Diners Drive Ins and Dives. This restaurant specializes in Cheesesteaks and Pizza. The dogs got craft beef biscuits from the dog vending machine inside the restaurant.

After that they got to eat some cheesesteak.

And some chicken hoagie.

The dogs always enjoy going to Those Guys Pies.

The Next week it was 100 degrees outside so we took the dogs threw an In-N-Out Drive Thru.

Well that was Dining With DOGS for May 2025. We Hope You’ve enjoyed and we hope to see you next month.

Ginza Izakaya Japanese Restaurant – Amazing to Awful maybe just not ready for prime time? Las Vegas NV

Ginza Izakaya Japanese Restaurant opened this spring in the Centennial (North West) part of Las Vegas Nevada. It’s a small restaurant that is only open for dinner.

If you get seated at a booth it is well lit but if you get seated in the main dining area you need to use your cell phone as a flash light. You can order a la cart or choose the multi course menu.

We started out with the chicken karaage (fried chicken appetizer).

The chicken tastes unseasoned and floury. The dipping mayo on the side doesn’t help much.

The Toro Nigiri – The fish has a melt in your mouth quality like from better sushi restaurants but the rice under the fish is loose and wet……..and falls apart.

The spicy tuna salad is good.

The hamachi Kama (fish collar). is severely over cooked to a point where the meat is dry and stringy. I don’t know how they cooked it but it seemed microwaved to me because I burnt my mouth trying to eat it stayed burning hot.

The shishito pepper skewer is delicious and very good and the same with the shiitake mushroom skewer.

The pork belly skewer is very dry.

The SPECTACULAR BITE was the wagyu skewer …..WOW it really was an amazing bite of delicious flavor and just melted in the mouth like butter. It seemed like it was from a $$$$$ restaurant…not a neighborhood restaurant.

My visit was a mix of hits and misses….so Good Luck!

My Trip to Shawarma Paradise – Las Vegas NV

Shawarma Paradise is a casual Glatt Kosher Mediterranean Restaurant located near to the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas Nevada. They offer a limited menu of shawarma (beef & chicken), chicken schnitzel, falafel, or vegetable on pita, baguette, laffa, or as an entree plate. Whatever you order you add many different dips, spreads, and vegetables from the bar to enhance your plate. It’s very casual and you order and pay at the counter.

I tried a chicken schnitzel plate.

It’s a massive amount of food that is more than one meal for most people. I got hummus, Israeli salad, pickles, sumac onions, cabbage salad, pickled cauliflower, pickled carrots, rice, tomato sauce, and a hot pita bread. Everything is ok but the chicken is over cooked and very dry today. The hummus is a very good quality but could use a squeeze of lemon and a pinch of cumin.

My husband got the 1/2 beef 1/2 chicken shawarma plate with fries.

It’s all ok but some of the shawarma is very dry and the fries are soggy.

The people working there seemed pleasant and the restaurant seemed very clean.

Parking was easy and close.

That was my trip to Shawarma Paradise.

Quality Thai – Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork!

Quality Thai is a small Thai Restaurant located in the Centennial or North/West part of Las Vegas Nevada. They only have six tables inside so when they get busy you either have to wait for a table or do take out.

The day I was there they only had two people to cook, answer phones, and to serve customers.

We started out by sharing the Vegetable Thai Fresh Rolls.

They are fresh salad that is wrapped in rice paper that you dip in an Asian sort of peanut-ee sauce.

For my main I tried the Garlic Thai Basil Eggplant with Chicken and I picked #6 out of 10 for heat.

The eggplants are sweet and creamy and seem free of oil. The chicken is still moist and it’s in a basil infused sauce that is lightly laced with other flavors. Some crispy shallots were sprinkled on to the dish. For me the #6 is just right for heat for this dish.

My husband tried the Thai Basil with Shrimp that is also known as Pad Kra Pao.

I hear that it was good but my husband will order a #7 for heat next time instead of the #8 he ordered this time.

No problems here and all the food was good.
