Komex Fusion (Korean/Mexican) Restaurant – Worth a Fork! Las Vegas NV

Komex Fusion is a casual restaurant here in Vegas. They offer their spin on Mexican Foods with a Korean Touch. They’ve been featured in various publications and various television shows.

On this visit they offered various specials.

Whatever you order they start you off with a complimentary basket of chips and some tasty salsa.

Maybe you want to start out with an order of fried wontons.

You HAVE to get the bulgogi tostada because it’s FORKING delicious!

Here’s the Bulgogi tostada.

Or maybe try a few tacos –

Above is a chicken and fish taco.

Below is a pork belly taco.

My husband loves the bulgogi grilled cheese.

On anther visit he enjoyed the Bulstrami Burrito with fries inside.

This was FORKING enormous! But he enjoyed it.

The George Sportsman’s Lounge – 24/7 – Elevated American Food, Bar, Gaming – Worth a Try!

The George Sportsman’s Lounge is a 24/7 Elevated American Restaurant, Bar, and Gaming Type of place located in the Durango Hotel/Casino. It’s very large with a very large patio. (Below is part of the patio)

Inside is a large bar, a smaller bar and lots of GIANT BIG screen TVs and a variety of other seating.

We started out by sharing the Brussels Sprouts (balsamic glaze, shaved parmesan, and pecans).

The sprouts look good but are a little under today so they are hard. The glaze taste a bit strong today and all the cheese today is hard and sticking together……..Oh well

But both our mains were very good.

Salmon Salad (Nicely grilled to medium salmon, romaine, arugula, radish, asparagus, cucumber, tomatoes, orange, citrus vinaigrette, and feta cheese.)

The Hot Honey Chicken Macaroni and Cheese was also very good. (3 cheese cavatappu, fried buttermilk chicken, hot honey, crispy onions, and chives).

SEASONAL Specials at Lemongrass & Lime Thai Bistro – Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork!

Lemongrass & Lime is an award wining Thai Restaurant with two locations in Las Vegas Nevada (Summerlin and the one I go to in Centennial Hills). They are a little different here and offer seasonal specials in addition to their regular menu.

We tried two of the specials.

Short Rib Dumpling are amazing and sit in a well made beef stock.

The Potato Scaled Cod in Green Curry Sauce is also wonderful. It’s all great and maybe the best green curry that you can find in Vegas.

My husband got his usual

Matteo’s Ristorante Italiano – Las Vegas NV – IMPRESSIVE and Worth a Fork!

Matteo’s Ristorante Italiano is an award wining Northern Style Italian Restaurant located in Restaurant Row in the Venetian Hotel/Casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada.

Inside

The lunch and dinner menus are seasonal so they always change slightly.

Surprisingly we’ve tried the most impressive salmon dishes in Las Vegas here at Matteo’s.

It’s shaved and so fresh and served up with the just right embellishments.

Even more impressive are the salmon entrees.

This is what impressive salmon is – Cooked Medium -Medium-Rare with CRISPY and Seasoned skin. (above is a lunch salmon entree) (Below is a dinner entree Salmon) As of yet I have not found another restaurant that prepares salmon this masterful in Las Vegas.

Best Salmon came from Matteo’s in the Palazzo Venetian

Another impressive dish that is only occasionally on the dinner menu is the Ligurian Focaccia.

Ligurian Focaccia from Matteo’s Italiano Ristorante

This was to die for –

The bread is really light as air and is a balloon sort of bread. It’s stuffed with creamy light Crescenza cheese and this one was topped with squash blossoms, asparagus, Italian parsley, and mushrooms.

And of course the hand made pastas and sausage are amazing.

Below is what we tried so –

ai Pazzi Pizza – by Chef Fabio Viviani – NEWLY OPENED at Rampart Hotel/Casino Las Vegas NV

ai Pazzi Pizza by Chef Fabio Viviani recently opened in the food hall in Rampart Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. At the time of my visit last Friday I was told that this is just a take out restaurant without seating on the day we went. (That might be changing because I saw them adding tables the next day?) We sat at the bar seats by ai Pazzi Pizza and were told to leave because they were bar seats for the restaurant. (but the next day I saw they let ai Pazzi Pizza there so I don’t know if they changed things or maybe it depends on who is working? anyways They offer a limited menu of 6 twelve inch pizzas, two salads, soft beverages, and take out beer.

menu

I noticed that chef Fabio was seated next door at the Pearls Oyster Bar.

We came at an off time and we sat ourselves at one of the few tables across from ai Pazzi Pizza but you can’t count (at this time) on getting a seat anywhere.

We tried a Pesto Pomodoro Pizza (mozzarella, pesto, tomatoes, raw onion, parmesan)

and a OG Salica (pomodoro, fontina, provolone, sausage, peppers, olives, red onions, roasted garlic, and oregano)

Of course both pizzas were delicious and both were thin and crisp.

At the time of my visit it wasn’t clear on the website that this was a take out only restaurant. Perhaps that will change in the near future?

My TRIP to Up In Scoops Ice Cream Shop – Las Vegas NV – Very 80s Some 70s & 90s too!

I normally wouldn’t put an Ice Cream Shop on my blog but Up In Scoops in Las Vegas Nevada has such a unique and different atmosphere. It’s like a little free museum of the 80s. Just treat yourself to something sweet here and look around for free.

First buy something.

I got spumoni gelato and my husband got a chocolate gelato.

Even the table tops are decorated in the 80s.

That was my Trip to Up In Scoops.

Caramella at Planet Hollywood – The Wednesday & Thursday 3 Course $49.99 – Worth a Try! – Las Vegas NV

Caramella is a fine dining Italian Restaurant located on the second floor in Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. It’s very rich looking inside. Stone accented walls with a few strange embellishments.

All around the room are also large ceramic spotted cats.

The Motown Music that fills the air seems a bit out of place. They also have patio seating with a view of the Strip.

Besides their regular menu they list a 3 course $49.99 menu (subject to change) but you have to ask for because they don’t push it.

It’s a great savings from their regular menu. It’s like getting two salads and two desserts for free. The wine deal isn’t the finest wine but it is much lower in price than the cheapest bottle of wine on their menu so you might want to give it a try. If you get the same server as we did …you might get told not to order the bottomless wine because it’s horrible. (True it’s not the best. But you don’t feel like spending over a $100.00 on one bottle that is really worth much less. soooooooooo that’s up to you.

I have to give them credit for both salads. The Caesar and the Arugula with shaved fennel both surpassed my expectations.

Caesar Salad

Arugula with shaved fennel (not much fennel) but the dressing is exceptionally great! It’s hard to see and was described as a vinaigrette but is really this crazy vegetable mash.

Stuffed (with cheese) Chicken Parmesan is reasonably good!

Salmon al Forno is also reasonably good!

And the sweet ending was the Signature Caamella Tart

It’s like caramel, chocolate, rich cream, and more chocolate. It’s above many out there!

Then on the way out you can purchase something sweet if you want.

Tikva’s Grill – Las Vegas NV – Kosher Casual Mediterranean Grill – UPDATE**********Worth a Fork! Now CLOSED for business

Tikva’s Grill is a casual Israeli Style Kosher Mediterranean Restaurant in Las Vegas Nevada. Here you order things like falafels, shawarma, kabobs, schnitzel, and hummus. It’s casual. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself.

We shared a three meat platter and it comes with TONS of salads, dips and made in house pita breads.

The salads and dips are fresh and well flavored. One of the tomato salads is spicy. Some are also sweeter than I’m used to like the carrot salad. The pickles also run sharp. Pita is fresh made in house but is more flat than fluffy.

The three meat plate we got was beef kabob, steak, and chicken thigh with 1/2 rice and 1/2 fries.

The meats are all very fresh tasting, deep with flavor, and all are very juicy. The char on the steak is especially delicious.

The fries are fresh, HOT, and with fluffy interiors.

My Trip to the Volcano Grille (S. Durango Dr.) Las Vegas NV – Not the best.

The Volcano Grill is (according to their website) the world’s first Fast-Casual Hibachi Restaurant with two locations in Las Vegas Nevada. You order and pay at the counter and either order some sort of plate or bowl or hibachi burrito. Then you get your drink and seat yourself.

We saw them recently featured on two different local Las Vegas TV shows and they seemed so good we wanted to give them a try. They also won some sort of Channel 5 award for excellence.

I tried a 1/2 fried chicken and a 1/2 (premium) salmon with 1/2 noodles 1/2 grilled rice with a miso strawberry salad. My salad comes first.

The salad cam with fried crispy noodles on the side and is adorned with dried out carrot shreds that seem old.

Then our meals come.

I got 1/2 fried chicken, 1/2 (premium) salmon 1/2 grilled rice, 1/2 noodles and some extra sauces ginger, sweet garlic, sriracha.

Chicken – dry and stringy

salmon – slightly over cooked

noodles – ok

rice – ok

All the sauces were weird

My husband had the 1/2 beef (m/r), 1/2 shrimp, 1/2 noodles, 1/2 grilled rice and the Japanese salsa sauce, mustard sauce.

The best of the plate surprisingly was the beef – a little over but ok

Shrimp taste old but are not spoiled

Eggrolls are soggy.

Volcano Grille – Not the best (slight update the owner saw my pictures and said that they were having a bad day on the day of my visit and invited us back. We were not interested in returning since this place is further out than we normally go)

My Trip to Above The Crust – Pizza – Wings & Things – Las Vegas NV – Unseasoned

Above The Crust is a casual little Pizza Restaurant located in the North/West part of Las Vegas Nevada. Their menu offers the usual pizzas, calzones, sandwiches, wings, and they also offer things like house made potato chips, Asian chicken salads, and pizza of the day. On the day of my visit here I think the pizza of the day was something like peaches with caramel?

Anyways – We ordered and paid at the counter and sat ourselves.

We shared a spinach and cheese calzone and a plain pizza.

Spinach and Cheese Calzone

Cheese Pizza

Both are kinda flat and bland. The pizza has zero seasoning. I never tasted anything so bland before. The crust and sauce are both dying for a little salt. The calzone is hard to eat….They did fill it with lots of ricotta cheese but it is also unseasoned. I wanted it to be at least seasoned like a frozen ravioli. It’s large portions of food so I bring home a bunch to doctor up.The end crust is thin and hard and kinda dense. It’s almost like a hard pretzel but without salt.
