My Forking Thoughts on “Tastes of the World” at Coca Cola Las Vegas NV

Coca Cola World is located on the Strip in Las Vegas and besides of offering all kinds of collectables they also can sell you  an international tasting of 16 Coca Cola Products from around the World!

Here we go Tray #1. I didn’t take any notes…….but I do remember what I liked and what I didn’t.

Tray 1

My taste will differ from yours but the only sodas I could drink were

#5 Aquarius Libre from Spain. It was citrusy tasting and refreshing.

#6 Fanta Melon Frosty from Thailand. It tasted like a Honeydew Melon.

#7 Smart Watermelon from China. It tasted like watery watermelon juice.

#8 Fanta Pineapple from Greece. It tasted like Lifesaver Pineapple Candy.

Tray 2

I don’t want to spoil this for you but I found tray two mostly inedible. The only beverage that was somewhat edible was the #5 Sunfill Mint from Djibouti. The beverage tasted like minty mouth wash to me. The other flavors were hard to stomach………

But one soda the #7 Beverly from Italy…………………………made my throat lock up……….it was not digestible………… and I had to spit it out.

I SURE DIDN’T SEE THIS ONE COMING!

It was like driving and hitting the biggest deepest pothole you ever hit.

It was a Tidal Wave of unbelievable bitterness. I think this liquid could be me vomit.

Beverly truly was so shocking it was polarizing.

I screamed after it was in my mouth. I remember it had the most horrifying stomach turning bitterness to it. My husband thought I must be exaggerating so he tried it and said you are right that is horrible. The worst….I gotta buy one for my dad. (who is from Italy)

The Forking Truth is Coca Cola Beverly Soda from Italy is one of the least favorite things I ever tried to swallow.

It sort of was fun to taste International Flavors of the World….But I would have skipped over Beverly if I knew what it tasted like.

I note everything is subject to change and your experience may or may not differ.

I also found out that Beverly is no longer sold and only made for Coca Cola Tastings at Coca Cola Worlds.

Sin City’s Sweet Side – Some of the Desserts on the Las Vegas Strip

I was in Las Vegas only a few short weeks back. I do have a few more stories to tell and I thought after the worst mass shooting in US History maybe a “sweet story” would be a welcome today.

Las Vegas also known as Sin City offers many temptations.

One of the most famous desserts is Emeril’s Banana Cream Pie that’s offered at multiple Emeril Laggassi Restaurants on the Strip. Somehow this dessert is always perfection. Even people that don’t like bananas love this cake. This dessert is layers of moist delicious tasting cake with layers of these really perfect tasting bananas. The bananas taste better than normal bananas. There are tons of bananas in the cake with just enough cream and sauce and really rich chocolate flakes. This is a must do in Vegas.

Table Ten Las Vegas

If you are up for a some really fine dining and have dinner at L’atelier de Joel Robuchon you MUST ORDER the Les Tartes.

I just have to call this one Little Slices of Heaven. The variety of tarts varies but each little slice is stellar. You just might hear angels singing.

Pinkbox Doughnuts are voted best doughnuts in Vegas. Here we tried Key Lime and Chocolate Dipped.

It was on my list to find the Milk Bar in the Cosmopolitan and try the famous Milk Quake. It’s ice-cream mixed with a cookie or cake. We ordered the Strawberry Corn Flavor.

Sorry neither of us liked this one. Maybe it wasn’t made correctly? Ours was very sour like yogurt and didn’t taste like strawberry. The Corn bread Cookie also was savory. We tossed this one out after a a couple taste. Well on the positive side this dessert was the lowest in calories.

Greek Walnut Cake with Greek Ice Cream who knew! Served at Milos

Maybe you’ve seen Celebrity Baker Buddy Valasco on TV also known as the Cake Boss. Here’s his Las Vegas Location of Carlo’s Bakery. We tried an Italian Lobster Roll. WOW it had crispy texture like raw thin noodles and was filled with hazelnut cream.

If you dine at Lago in the Bellagio you MUST get dessert.

This is what they served me.

It’s a work of art. It’s absolutely stunning. You must order dessert at Lago. You must go to Lago.

I haven’t found any dessert shop that compares to Jean Philippe with one location in the Bellagio and a nother location in the Cosmopolitan. It’s Willy Wonka to the max. They also sell chocolates, gelato, sorbet and pre made sandwiches to take out.

The artistry is amazing. I try a few every time I come here and everything is the best! (sadly the ones I purchased to take back melted so I couldn’t photo but I assure you the Lemon Desserts and Chocolate Cupcake are both amazing.

I also love the fancy chocolate art they always do here. Here are life size polar bears in chocolate.

On the right side is the biggest Chocolate Fountain…in America…maybe the World!

And that was just some of the Sweet Side of Sin City.

P.S. don’t even worry about the calories because you know what they say……

L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon – Amazing Dinner in Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork

L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon is located in the MGM Grand Hotel/Casino and Shops on the Las Vegas Strip. This is a Fine Dining Michelin Star Rated Restaurant by Chef of the Century Joel Robuchon. The dining experience is friendly up close but casual in a classy, stylish environment. The restaurant is mostly a counter that circles the kitchen so diners are to view the kitchen wizardry. The food is prepared with all French Techniques and every dish is a masterpiece. Most of the plates are small plates……..Get ready to enjoy and Expect the unexpected everything is FORKING AMAZING!

They started us off with an amuse bouche – a Foie Gras Parfait. I didn’t try mine but I was told it was luscious and warm.

We also get a basket of amazing fresh baked breads and rich French Butter.

L’Atelier MGM Las Vegas

My first course is Smoked Salmon, Potato Waffle with Dill Whipped Cream and French Pepper (Piment d’ Espelette). They also gave me a piece of toast with fresh tomatoes and basil.

The salmon is so buttery and seasoned so perfect.  The potato is very flavorful. You gotta get a closer look at the painstakingly beautiful detail on the cream. Really delicious…I wish I could eat this everyday.

My husband’s first course was Iberico De Bellota Ham. This is a very special ham that comes from special Black footed pigs that eat nothing but acorns. this kind of ham is expensive. I mail away for this kind of ham sometimes for a present for my husband and it runs around $60.00 for only four ounces and it’s not as good as the ham from here because here it’s fresh sliced. I am told this ham melts in the mouth and has slight acorn to it.

Second course for me was Beet Valoute (soup) with Green Mustard SORBET and salad.

It’s not like anything I ever had before. The flavors go together like magic. Beets, a little richness and laced with a pleasing amount of mustard. I hate to use this word over and over again but it’s amazing.

Second course for my husband was Red Snapper Carpaccio with lemon Gelee, French Pepper and Turmeric Vinaigrette. I didn’t try this dish today but I had it before….It’s as great as it looks.

Dinner for me was the Yuzu Caramelized Salmon with Sriracha Aioli,  Japanese Nameko  Mushrooms and the Famous Joel Robuchon Potatoes. (this is considered a large plate)

My plate is very detailed and stunning. It’s almost to beautiful to eat and looks like it should hang on a wall in a museum. I don’t know how they make the tiny onion rings so flavorful. The small Nameko Mushrooms are also unique and have a strong mushroom flavor. The fish is so succulent, buttery and lucious and has a caramelized wonderful citrusy flavor from the Yuzu. The potatoes are magical………..so buttery and rich….no other potatoes are like these. This dinner is sooooooo fine, it’s superb!

My husband is open to try most things and goes for the Veal Sweet Bread with Bay leaves and Stuffed Romaine. He had an interest in Sweet Bread and thought if he is ever going to try it he must try the best. After trying it he said to me that I would really enjoy it if I tried it. For now I’ll just have to take his word on that.

We split our dessert courses and went for a cheese plate and the Les Tarts.

Assorted Cheeses, some were very stinky (in a good way). Never had raisins on the vine before. All the flavors were interesting and yummy!

Behold…..The Slices of Heaven Plate………Les Tartes!

Passion Fruit, a flat cinnamon, Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Carmel Nut and Apple……

Insert Angels Singing here…….

Just heavenly and certainly WORTH A FORK!

Then they gave us an extra little treat….

Tiny bite size things like tastiest crumpets filled with raspberries ……so melt in the mouth delicious! Just Fabulous!

A sweet ending to the most incredible meal ever! Surprisingly reasonably priced for the quality it is. The 2017 pricing for three courses is less than $100.00 a person.

Gordon Ramsey Burger Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork

Gordon Ramsay Burger is located in Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip. This restaurant has had a logo and name change as it opened a few years back as Burgr. This is a casual restaurant with a full bar and wait service. This restaurant specializes in Burgers. They also serve appetizers, snacks, milkshakes and a few other items. There is always a wait to get in and the atmosphere is loud and energetic and sort of fiery.

Our waiters were very friendly and excited about the menu and offered to answer any questions we had. We asked for a wine list and it was computerized.

We decided to start things out with the Truffle Parmesan Fries that were served with truffle aioli and a house made ketchup that tasted heavy with a worcestershire kind of taste.

The portion is very large but the fries are really great. The interiors are very creamy and soft but the fries aren’t soggy. The top fries taste the best because as you go down the salt collects and they get saltier.

Soon I receive my Tandoori Chicken Burger ( with the feta on the side).

The chicken is really different and I’m sorry I didn’t ask about it. It’s has a well seasoned exterior and is extremely moist and flavorful. The meat almost seems chopped.

Whatever they did it is really delicious. The Tandoori Chicken Burger is dressed with Tabbouleh, Tahini Vinaigrette, bitter Frisee, Mint Vinaigrette, seasonings and Feta. All together it’s pretty darn amazing! The rich roll is also grilled and is very tasty.

My husband went with the Hell’s Kitchen Burger with the jalapeño aioli on the side.

The beef is fresh ground daily in the main Paris Kitchen. The burger is 7 ounces and is adorned with Asadero Cheese, Roasted Jalapeño, Roasted Tomato and Jalapeño Aioli. I didn’t try it but I was told the burger was very flavorful.

They serve a “Hell” of a Burger here!

Chica Restaurant Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork

Chica is located in the Venetian Hotel/Casino and Shops on the Las Vegas Strip. The exact location is off the casino floor on what they call restaurant row. The menu at Chica was created by Celebrity Chef Lorena Garcia. The food is her spin on Classic Latin Dishes. My photos don’t do justice on the restaurant’s atmosphere but here is what I got.

We were seated near the open kitchen by the Rotisserie Chickens spinning around. The aroma from the spinning marinated chickens was intoxicating.

The other end of the restaurant looked like this from my seat. Off to the sides that I couldn’t photo the place has more colors with interesting pictures and colorful pillows.

We started with a Wild Mushroom Quesadilla. It was filled with wild mushrooms, Oaxacan and blue cheeses, huitlacoche, jalapeño pesto and pickled onions. The quesadilla quarters were served stacked and were cleverly held together with guacamole. It was a tasty and interesting start to our meal.

Our server brought us some delicious Arepas to try with Argentinean Butter and a dusting of a fruity mildly spicy pepper. I don’t think everyone gets these ?………Our waitress told us the Chef gave us them because we mentioned that we picked this restaurant because we were a fan of Chef Garcia.

I’ve only had arepas a few times before but these certainly were the best I’ve ever had with yummy bells and whistles. They were fresh hot and flavorful. A yummy treat!

I had to order the half Meyer Lemon Marinated Rotisserie Chicken because the aroma was speaking to my stomach.

The Chicken was INCREDIBLY Moist and Flavorful and delicious! Even the breast almost fell apart from moisture. The herby chimichurri was a nice accent. The Potato Salad made with Peruvian Purple Potatoes and Hearts of Palm was wildly flavorful with cilantro and spicy with jalapeño. It had the right amount of cream to cut the heat.

My husband went with the Porchetta with Crispy Yucca Hash.

Slow roasted tender and flavorful Porchetta. The Crispy yucca hash also contained crispy brussels sprouts and pearl onion escabeche that accented the succulent pork and didn’t cover it up. Everything was well cooked and well seasoned. It was enjoyed very much!

I was pretty full so I passed on dessert but the waitress surprised us with an elegant little chocolate and espresso layer cake resting in raspberry sauce.

The Food was great! I felt like I was treated like a VIP maybe because I said I was a fan of the chef or maybe because they caught me snapping some photos…I don’t know…but I enjoyed and I had a great time.

Soon after we got seated they served us a generous basket of fresh baked bread and quality Greek Olive Oil.

For my first course I picked the Greek Spreads. Tarama (fish roe dip), Hummus, Htipiti (Feta/Tomato dip) and Raw Vegetables. All the dips were tasty but my favorite was the Feta Tomato dip.

My husband had the Shetland Island Organic Salmon Tartare with Fresno Chili, Shallots and Cilantro.

My Main Course was the Dorade Royal Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bream.

Wow! The fish is so fresh and prepared so perfect! It’s just amazing! The fish is seasoned just so and melts in my mouth! This is as good as it gets for fish. You can pay $100.00 for 3 ounces of fish this fine at certain high end Fish Restaurants…….. Thrilled!

My husband got the Shrimp Saganaki with cous cous tomato and feta.

The Shrimp were prepared to perfection. The sauce was delicious! Just a really great plate.

We both decided to try the Karidopita with Kaimaki Ice-Cream (Greek Walnut Cake with Greek Ice-Cream).

Everyone was waiting on us were great. The food was incredible. We enjoyed ourselves!

Lago The AMAZING $29.00 3-Course Lunch Las Vegas NV

Lago is the first Italian Restaurant by James Beard Award Winning Chef Julian Serrano. Lago serves small plates with big flavors. Lago is located in the Bellagio Hotel/Casino and Shops on the Las Vegas Strip. When I heard about the $29.00 3 course lunch special at one of the hottest most desirable restaurants in Vegas I know I had to try it. So here I am.

The dining room is classy modern. The seats are covered in leather and the tables have attractive stone tops.

They have a fancy oven in the kitchen. Looks like it might be a wood burning oven from Italy….?

We have a nice view of the water and the Paris Tower and Hotel Casino/Shops across the Strip.

My starter course was the Caprese Salad. It was made of Heirloom Tomatoes, Creamy Buffalo Mozzarella and fresh Basil.

It was simple but oh so good. Quality olive oil, balsamic, maybe trace amounts of honey? fresh pepper and this extra delicious scant amounts of crunchy sea salt.

My husband started with the Antipasto Misto. ($5.00 extra)

He was in hog heaven with this plate. The plate included Burrata, Prosciutto, Porchetta, Interesting Olives, Roasted Bell Peppers and wafer thin crisp breads. He just kept saying this is really good. This is really worth it!

My main meal was the Branzino Livornese.

Delicate Branzino with a crisp seasoned skin and delicate flesh that picked up the lovely carefully seasoned slow roasted tomatoes. Two large tender crisp charred asparagus completed the plate.

My husband had the Lasagna Verde. Four Cheese Lasagna with Spinach.

A Nicely made Lasagna topped with fresh spinach and swimming with sweet slow cooked tomatoes.

But then comes the Chef’s Choice dessert!

We get this STUNNING Amazing wonderful plate that is so detailed with so many wonderful things! We get a lemon layer cake with lots of fancy chocolate work. We get mini meringues, dots of apricot. The most incredible lemon ice. A chocolate layer cake with lots of fancy chocolate work and some gold, dots of raspberry, nut crunch and some incredible Chocolate ice.

This wasn’t just dessert.

This was more like a gift.

This made my day!

A really wonderful lunch with wonderful service in a strikingly beautiful restaurant and the most stunning painstakingly prepared dessert.

That was the AMAZING $29.00 3-Course at Lago at the Bellagio Las Vegas.

My Trip to Gordon Ramsey’s Fish & Chips Restaurant Las Vegas NV

Gordon Ramsey’s Fish & Chips is located on the Las Vegas Strip by the Link Hotel/Casino. This is a small fast food restaurant that offers a very limited menu of battered Fish, Chicken or Sausage, a variety of chips and several dipping sauces and a few other items.

You order and pay at the counter. Get your beverage and wait for your number. Seating is very limited with only three tables inside and some counter chairs so you might have to sit outside somewhere.

Soon we get our Fish & Chips.

The Fish is hot and fresh. The batter is thin but very light and crispy. Fries seem like fresh hand cut and very soft but didn’t turn soggy. You can pick up malt vinegar but you also get two dipping sauces. My favorite sauce for the fish was the Gordon Ramsey’s Tarter Sauce. It was an extra delicious kind of creamy base with a perfect balance of dill, lemon and other delicious spices. I also really enjoyed the Curry Mango Sauce and the Sriracha Mayonnaise but for my taste they overpowered the tasty fish. I sure didn’t mind poking a few fries in those sauces for fun!

I wouldn’t mind if Gordon Ramsey opens some of his Fast Food Fish & Chips Restaurants in Phoenix.

ATM & FYI -Gordon Ramsey offers Fish at Chips at three of his restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip.

Gordon Ramsey Steak House – $45.00 – Loup de Mer, Truffle Chips, Creme Fraiche Tarter Sauce

Gordon Ramsey Pub – $30.00 – Yorkshire Ale Battered Cod with Tarter and Mushy Peas

Gordon Ramsey Fish & Chips – Cod , Chips and Choice of two sauces & Beverage $14.99

Soon to Open – (don’t know if Fish and Chips will be on menu?) Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen

Where the Fork I Ate in Las Vegas

Vegas is a place like no other. It’s sort of like Disney Land but Micky had some botox and Dumbo ain’t so dumb and sells souvenirs for more than peanuts.

You can land the finest in clothes and jewelry.

You can stay in the highest end hotels.

Everywhere you go it’s a show.

You can find and see all kinds of things that’s only in Vegas. HONEST to GOD…We were in an elevator with an Elvis impersonator who was disabled and on a scooter. (dressed as an older Elvis in the white jeweled jump suit) He was drunk with a large can of beer that he accidentally spilled in the elevator.

There’s booze, gambling, prostitution, weed, a mob museum.

For about a week every year Las Vegas gets spaced out with the Star Trek Convention.

Vegas is a busy crowed place filled with people from all over the world.

Vegas can be insincere and is artificial.

BUT The FOOD is mostly so GOOD! Not just good. If you hit the right spots FORKING GREAT!

Over the next week or so I will be writing about the places I ate at while in Las Vegas.

Here is a sneak peak of what’s to come.

Just a taste!

Best Food I had of Where the Fork I’ve Been…….. Las Vegas 2015

IMG_8935

My first forking stop was Wo Fat Chinese Restaurant. This is a very average looking Chinese restaurant that serves up popular and non popular Chinese Food. The specialities are Hawaiian Chinese Food so I tried two Hawaiian Dishes I never had before even when I was in Hawaii.

For my entree I ordered the Cold Ginger Chicken In Onion Sauce.

Wo Fat Las Vegas NV

Wo Fat Las Vegas NV

The Chicken was warm and not forking cold like in the name. I had to peal off the rubbery chicken skin and poke out the bones but the chicken meat was very developed with pleasing flavors and was moist and delicious. Oddly this flavor isn’t typical of most Asian Food I tried. It didn’t scream ginger, garlic or even soy sauce. It just was forking delicious. The serving size was much larger than the half chicken description. My husband and I ate lots of it and I forking had enough leftover for two generous dinners.

Also tried the unique to Hawaii Cake Noodles.

Wo Fat Las Vegas NV

Wo Fat Las Vegas NV

I didn’t forking understand the menu as I saw cake noodles for $1.25. So I forking thought I’d get a side of cake noodles. It turns out you forking ADD the cake noodles to another dish. So I got them added to a Chicken Dish of some sort that the server recommended. The Cake noodles are very unique. They look like ramen noodles but have much more flavor and texture since they are lightly pan fried. They have an almost wheat taste to them. This dish was forking tasty and the chicken in it was also great. If you go to Wo Fat get something with chicken.

Table 10 located in the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip never has failed me yet as a top destination for a delicious dinner. The Executive Chef Is Celebrity Chef Emeril Laggassi. My husband always starts with the gumbo because according to him it’s the best gumbo outside of New Orleans. Everything I had was forking delicious. I started with soup the was light, airy and velvety. It was a sweet corn soup infused with real black truffles. It was just as good as the soup I remember from Bouchon’s. I had a delicious Filet for dinner and Emeril’s Signature Banana Cream Pie.

Table 10 Las Vegas NV

Table 10 Las Vegas NV

Everything was forking great from Table 10.

Another restaurant that never fails is Estiatorio Milos. This is a Greek Seafood restaurant located in the Cosmopolitan on the Las Vegas Strip.

Estia Torio Milos Las Vegas NV

Estiatorio Milos Las Vegas NV

We always get the FORKING PHENOMENAL 3 course lunch special that showcases daily fresh flown in fish. (every year the price changes and this year 2015 it ran $25.15)  My main course was the fresh flown in Greek Sea Bass. They forking bang out the freshest fish and it always prepared PERFECT. If you like seafood it doesn’t get better or cheaper than this for this kind of quality. You’d be forking crazy to go to forking Denny’s over this.

At DB Brasserie located in the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip had one outstanding thing that really stood out was the cheese puff in the bread basket.

DB Brasserie Las Vegas NV

DB Brasserie Las Vegas NV

The cheese puff wasn’t ordinary. It was light as a feather and also hollow. It had a crisp exterior and a chewy light interior. It tasted like it was made with more than one cheese. It tasted like strong hard cheese of some sort and a more mellow creamy cheese with a surprising hot spice to it. The cheese puff from DB Brasserie was the best thing I ever ate from a bread basket anywhere.

The best desserts come from Jean Philippe located in the Aria Hotel and casino. The executive chef Jean -Philippe Maury is a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Official Best Pastry Chef in France) and holds a World pastry team competition Gold Medal.

Jean Philippe in the Aria Las Vegas NV

Jean Philippe in the Aria Las Vegas NV

I had the lemon meringue tart. It was a perfection of flavors and textures. The crust was thin, tender, buttery, delicious and perfect and topped with a fresh natural tasting strawberry spread. The lemon filling had the perfect balance of tart, tang, sweetness and mouth feel, topped with a perfect torched meringue and decorated with some forking artsy chocolate work. A smaller Jean Philippe shop is also located in the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. That one features the world’s biggest chocolate fountain and is worth checking out.

The Forking Best Meal always comes from L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon located in the MGM on the Strip in Las Vegas.

You have your choice of several tasting tapas style menus that vary quite a bit in price and you also can just order off the menu. This is a one star Michelin Restaurant. I can tell you that this is food you can’t replicate at home. Everything I tried here is amazing and different. The L’oeuf was so intricate and detailed. It was a soft fried egg covered with a micro thin noodle crust that was served on top of a micro greens salad and house smoked salmon and that French signature espette pepper.
