Marche Bacchus French Bistro – STUNNING ATMOSPHERE – Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try!

Marche Bacchus is a French Bistro and Wine Shop located in Summerlin by Lake Jacqueline. They offer a French Mediterranean Menu that includes steak, seafood, pasta, and more! It’s very large inside with several dining areas.

As you enter there is a bar area.

The other side of the bar area holds many refrigerators packed with wines and champagnes. You can buy a bottle in the store here and they charge just $10. over price of bottle to serve it to you in the restaurant.

To the left is a formal dining area (no photo).

Pass the bar is this area –

Then I got seated in this area.

With stunning views –

We also saw a variety of wildlife here. I saw rabbits running around. A variety of birds flying over and swimming. Turtles and a variety of fish swimming and also someone in a boat.

We started off by sharing the Leeks in Vinaigrette (grilled leeks, lime vinaigrette, crispy garlic, finger limes, shaved hearts of palm, frisee)

Good but I expected it to pop more. I could taste lots of lime but didn’t get the finger lime texture anywhere that I was expecting. I will try something else next time.

Had the Niçoise salad (tempura anchovies, sesame seared tuna, potatoes, green beans, tomato, hard boiled egg, herb salad, butter lettuce, olive tapenade, gigante beans).

Good and it was nice that they seasoned the egg. Probably good for most people but the olive tapenade is a bit strong for me.

My husband enjoyed the French Dip (Angus beef, provolone, baguette, au jus, creamy horseradish) He did say that this was maybe the best French Dip that he has ever tried.

A sweet ending was the Orange Ricotta Poached Figs a la mode with Vanilla ice cream, fig coulis, and phylo crisp

Very Good

A few weeks latter we came back for dinner.

They started us off with whipped butter and a tasty sliced baguette.

We tried the Truffled Goat Cheese Napoleon.

It’s a bunch of layers of light crisp pastry with super creamy truffled goat cheese.

For dinner I tried the Trout Almandine.

It’s a large portion of Boneless Trout. It came out with a crisp skin but in a while the skin turn soft. The flesh is mild and meaty for trout. Toasted almonds, butter and fresh herbs adorn the fish.

My husband said that the Beef Bourguignon was very good.

He said that it was tender with delicious flavors.

I brought back 1/2 my dinner home so we could share the Chocolate Indulgence Dessert.

Now this is very good. I can taste rich and quality chocolate with nice textures. Under is a slice of moist chocolate cake. The middle tastes like chocolate pots de creme. On the top are multiple little crunchy things.

Stunning atmosphere and At least Worth a Try!

In other Food News –

Was going to attend the Pizza Festival but 1/2 hour before it started their was no close parking and it was pouring rain and we didn’t think eating slices of pizza in the pouring rain would be fun so we ate at nearby Bagelmania. It’s deli foods, great big sandwiches, and breakfast is popular there. My husband had the Roast Beef Latke Sliders and I had a Fish Platter with an everything bagel. For me this was three meals because they messed up and gave me the wrong fish so I thought it was a good deal anyway.

Discovered a New 24/7 Bar, Restaurant and Gaming place call The Cantina. They offer a limited Mexican Food Menu and Smashburgers. The salsas they served us were unusually good. We also got a very good fajita and the best steak I ever had on a fajita anywhere. WHO KNEW that their fajitas are the best in town? What a great discovery.

Corn and Cranberry Corn Muffins Recipe

Was thinking a bright corn and cranberry corn muffin would be just right for this time of year so that’s what I made. I studied a few basic corn muffin recipes and changed a few things and added a few things so this is what I came up with and it’s very good. Kinda LIGHT and not too sweet and depending on your bite maybe a bit tart. I made 15 cupcake sized muffins and 24 mini muffins with this recipe. You can freeze leftovers. You can make all mini muffins or all regular sized muffins or mix them up like I did.

In a big bowl hand mix –

1 cup cornmeal

1 cup flour

1/4 cup dark brown sugar

1 Tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon course sea salt

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup canola oil

2 eggs – slightly beaten

1 cup fresh cranberries

1 cup cooked corn kernels

non stick spray

Directions

All the ingredients (except for the non stick spray) get hand mixed in a large bowl until mixed together.

Pre Heat Oven to 400 degrees F

Spray the muffin pans with non stick spray.

Use a small meatball scoop and scoop out batter. You need a little over 1/2 a scoop for the mini muffin pan because you only want them filled only a little more than 1/2. Ovens do differ – in my oven these only took 10 minutes.

For a regular size cup cake tray use a heaping meatball ball scoop and you also only want them filled just over 1/2. Ovens do differ – In my oven these only took 15 minutes.

My Trip to Pierogi Village – Las Vegas NV – Not for Everyone!

Pierogi Village is a small Polish Restaurant that specializes in serving Pierogi and other Polish Style Foods. It’s very homey inside with lots of Polish dolls, pottery, and other Keep Sakes all over.

My husband tried the Pierogi Sampler Plate of ten pierogi. He tried sausage, beef, potato & cheddar, and potato & cheese pierogi. He said it came with a green sauce that tasted minty and they were embellished with some diced caramelized onions. He said they had little flavor and couldn’t tell the difference between the beef and sausage pierogi. He also said that the pierogi that were suppose to have jalapeño in them didn’t taste like they had any jalapeño in them. He also said that he was still hungry after eating the pierogi (and one of mine) since the pierogi here are very small (about teaspoon sized).

I tried six potato and cheddar pierogi.

I was kinda surprised that they don’t come with sour cream. The pasta is nice and thin and none of them leaked. It might be hard to tell by my photo but they are very greasy. (and that turns me off). I ate four……..but I didn’t enjoy them……….they kinda turned my stomach because they were greasy and just didn’t have any good flavors to them……….The onions didn’t really taste like onions and instead had a cheap smoky lunch meat flavor and were too greasy for me. Even the inside wasn’t seasoned nice. I didn’t really taste any cheddar. It just was greasy and had that cheap lunch meat flavor. Then I scraped the onions off of one to give to my dogs. I was going to eat a fifth one but when I cut it open there was a big piece of some kind of meat in it so I gave it to my husband to eat since I didn’t know what it was.

WHAT THE FORK!

This was in the potato and cheddar pierogi.

BLECH!

My dogs didn’t mind.

Pierogi Village is not for everyone.

Latter I found out that Pierogi Village puts bacon in their potato and cheddar pierogi with no mention of they on their menu. That is very unkind and disrespectful to vegetarians and to people who don’t eat pork. I did mention this to the owner and Margaret eventually agreed with me. She said that she would change her menu and add bacon as an ingredient to her potato and cheddar pierogi. As of yesterday I did not notice any changes to her on-line menu.

My Trip to Dona Marie Tamales – Las Vegas NV

Dona Marie Tamales is a well known Mexican Restaurant and bar with two locations in Las Vegas Nevada. The North Summerlin Location has a large bar area on one side of the restaurant and a very large dining area on the other side of the restaurant. Below is part of the dining area.

Whatever you order they start you off with warm chips and a spicy salsa.

The salsa is hot and vinegary tasting. It also is not the type that has vegetable chunks and herbs.

Someone has to try a tamale since this is a tamale restaurant.

When you open up the tamale it looks like this.

It’s very generous with shredded chicken.

I tried the Dona Maria Fajita Taco Salad (with cheese and sour cream on the side)

They gave a good amount of white meat chicken that is moist and seems marinated because it does have extra flavor to it. They also were generous with TONS of fried onions under the chicken. Also hiding in there is a loose wet guacamole. Today someone slipped with the oil because the salad has a lot oil in it from the onions.

My husband also tried the #27 green chili pork with rice and beans and house made tortillas.

He said the best of what he tried here were the house made tortillas that he said were delicious. The rest was just ok. The meat and beans were on the dry side today.

Today I thought was somewhere around average. Not the worst but also not the best. About average.

3 Course $28. Lunch from Ferraro’s Ristorante is still – Worth a Fork! Las Vegas NV

Ferraro’s Ristorante is an Italian Restaurant and Bar located in Las Vegas Nevada not too far from the Las Vegas Strip. They happen to offer a three course lunch for only $28. If you make a reservation you get to sit on this side of the main dining area.

And if you don’t make a reservation then you get seated by the bar side.

They start you off with a roll and oil adorned with pistachios.

This time I started with the Bufala Caprese.

My husband started with the Cesare Salad.

For my main I had the Salmone Limone.

(It’s prepared a perfect medium with a nice moist fresh tasting center and the skin is masterfully crisp and tasty like a potato chip)

My husband enjoyed the Pollo Milanese.

We both enjoyed a sweet ending of Cannoli.

The 3 course $28. Love Your Lunch from Ferraro’s Ristorante is still Worth a Fork!

The FORKING Las Vegas Food Buzz of the Week

We have many very good Thai Restaurants in Las Vegas but What’s Zaap? Thai Food is up a few levels from the other good ones. Presentation, Levels of flavors, Masterful preparations, and interesting ingredients makes them amazing!

Honestly even the crisp spring rolls we started with were the best I ever tried anywhere. Then I get salmon that is masterfully prepared in a delicious green curry sauce adorned with sweet tiny baby eggplants and baby corn. The Spicy Basil (Pad Gra Pow) is the only one that is made with holy basil in Vegas and they hand chop the meat for more surface area to hold in more flavors.

Also had another delicious and perfect dinner from Rang’s Cocina Moderne.

This time we enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass in a Lemon Coconut type sauce and the New York Strip that was tender and flavorful.

It also was Ferraro’s Ristorante’s 40TH Anniversary this week and they were offering numerous specials. We tried the back to forty years ago lunch menu and tried some $4.99 lunches with some add ons.

All was good here too!

Our Local Paper’s Food News is not always very up to date

I’ve been upset with the lack of Food News that I come across in our local newspaper. I used to live in Phoenix Arizona where they had a whole food section with lots of local stories about local restaurants. They also had stories on other food happenings like the festivals too. In addition to that I also used to enjoy reading about the monthly list of openings and the list of closings. In Las Vegas we don’t have that.

In Las Vegas we have so many restaurant that they would really need three food sections. One for the strip and another for locals and a third one for Chinatown.

Here our local Las Vegas Newspaper has only one food reporter who only writes a few food stories a week that are most often a Casino Restaurant. I don’t recall seeing stories about festivals in the paper or even recall seeing these type of stories on our local TV news. Las Vegas has so much going on but it seems like we actually have less written about what’s going on than anywhere else I lived.

Just this week our local newspaper ran an article TUESDAY NOVEMBER 11TH 2025 that the future of Siegel’s 1941 has an uncertain future and nothing was decided until contractor bids come in an appraise the amount of money it will take to update the kitchen that has to close.

The SAME EXACT DAY TUESDAY NOVEMBER 11TH 2025 Casino.org reports that Siegel’s 1941 is to be (as they said) “RUBBED OUT” and to be replaced with a steakhouse. Today Wednesday November 12TH 2025 Our local newspaper still reads that Siegel’s 1941 ‘s future (in their words) is “Murky”. So our local newspaper’s story is already out of date.

Casino.org reports that Siegel’s 1941 is expected to close in April 2026. Here are some of the pictures I took in Siegel’s 1941 so you can see what the Mobster (Bugsy Siegel and one time OWNER) Themed Restaurant looks like.

The Menu Changes from time to time but a few of the offerings are – breakfast, matzoh ball soup, pastrami sandwiches, other sandwiches, burgers, and a $19.99 Prime Rib Special.

My Trip to Rutba Indian Kitchen – Las Vegas NV

Rutba Indian Kitchen is located in the Las Vegas Chinatown not too far from the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. Rutba Indian Kitchen is located in a small center of mostly restaurants on the second level so you have to walk up steps or use the elevator to enter. Once you get in it’s beautiful and modern inside.

It looks like they have a full bar inside and I also saw a built in buffet that is only for use on holidays.

We started with a Samosa Chaat (crispy samosas with spiced chickpeas and chuneys) and a Pani Puri (crispy shells with spicy and tangy fillings).

Samosa Chaat – Much different than any other samosa chaat I’ve tried. Never had one that was all chopped up before.

Pani Puri – The shells are made nicely (thin and crisp) Flavors are similar but more delicate than others I’ve tried.

and of course you have to get one of breads so we tried the Garlic Chili Naan Bread

The Naan was Very aggressive with strong garlic and chili –

We shared the Chicken Korma (onion based chicken gravy with blended nuts) that comes with rice.

In this dish the chicken was masterfully tender. I thought the sauce was good.

We also shared the Chana Masala (chickpea curry).

This also came with rice. A little different from others I’ve tried but tasty.

Portions were generous and we brought back leftovers.

My Trip to ShangHai Taste – Las Vegas NV

ShangHai Taste is a famous Shanghainese Dumpling Restaurant located in the Las Vegas Chinatown Shanghai Plaza. They are famous for a thicker fried soup dumpling called Shen Jian. They also offer appetizers like Shanghai duck, Shanghai Style Pork Ribs, and cold sliced tongue in Sichuan Sauce. They also offer steamed Bao and Dumplings, Soups, and Wontons, Fried Rice, Noodle Dishes, and more.

This restaurant has been featured in many publications and the chef has been a James Beard Semi-Finalist.

As you walk in you can see them at work in the exhibition kitchen.

You can sit at a counter in front of the kitchen or take a traditional seat in the dining room.

The tables are set with hot tea, plates, chopsticks, condiment bowls, a menu with a pen and checklist. You fill out the list of what you want to order and someone picks it up and you get plates ran out to you. They do have four condiments to embellish the dishes. Off to the side they have chili paste, chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar.

We tried a variety of things –

Angus Beef Jian (pan fried beef dumplings)

They are constructed masterfully and they hold a good amount of soup in them.

For my taste today the soup is too salty and the beef just tastes like boiled beef. (I don’t know if this is typical)

Scallion Pancakes – Very greasy today and very light on the scallions

Scallion Chicken Salad – A generous amount of moist pulled chicken (I thought this was the best of the bunch)

Vegan Dumplings – light on the filling and not very flavorful

Fish Dumplings – Lots of mild white fish inside with a small amount of scallion but – Unseasoned

Their FAMOUS Shen Jian (pork) Pan Fried Dumplings – My husband said that these had even less flavor than the beef ones.

Maybe Shanghainese Food is suppose to taste unseasoned?
