One of the really great salads here is the Steak Salad from Mezzo Bistro & Wine. It was a great big embellished salad with filet steak was flavorful and tender like butter.

Las Vegas Food News –

Enjoyed the well made Chicken Wonton Soup from Cool Bar BBQ Fish.

Las Vegas Food News –

Most disappointing plate came from Aloha Hawaiian BBQ.

It was a packed box of dried out shrimp, hard dried out fish, really strange and grossly sweet tasting tender chicken with rubbery skin. And AWFUL macaroni imbedded in THICK mayonnaise. BLECH!

Las Vegas & Beyond FOOD News

The LEAST Notable Restaurant of the week was Bistro 57 in the Aliante Hotel/Casino. It started with the bread basket. The bread was like a mix of dough, chemicals, and styrofoam. It was very unappetizing. For Dinner I tried to eat the Snapper Florentine Special. It was suppose to look like this.

But it looked like this.

Snapper Florentine Special from Bistro 57

The Fish was overcooked and a little fishy. It’s just PRETTY FORKING BAD when you need a steak knife to cut fish. Even the sauce was broke. BTW the other special Pork Parm was also OVER COOKED and dry.

The most notable restaurant of the week was Shawarma Vegas. It’s a Glatt Kosher Mediterranean Restaurant. It isn’t a fancy place and is extra casual. You best bet here is to order the EVERYTHING Plate. You get almost everything! Everything is delicious. All the meats are moist…EVEN THE CHICKEN BREAST is moist. Crunchy herby falafels and hot fluffy pita breads. Below are pictures from a few visits.

The most Notable Restaurant of the week has to be Ferraro’s Ristorante. We tried what they call a 4-6pm four course Pre-Theater Dinner. Each and every plate was incredible perfection. In case you don’t know…..

Las Vegas Food News –

A Notable incredible dish that I also enjoyed was the famous Crispy Spinach Salad from Nittaya’s Secret Kitchen. It’s spinach leaves that are perfectly tempura crispy. But it is the FORKING SCRUMPTIOUS SAUCE that makes it. (lime-ee, spicy, cashews….) I do note that this same dish from their Centennial Location tastes different to me…….But it was great both times at the Summerlin Location.

Las Vegas Food News –

Hit Notable Again with the Goat cheese Appetizer from Flecha Cantina.

Creamy Goat Cheese in this spicy tamarind sauce with pistachios and fried pita breads……It’s such a YUM-Dinger….I have to get it every time I’m here. I also have to add that any dish with achiote chicken is also unusually good there.

The Notable Restaurant of the week was the Lemongrass & Lime – A Thai Bistro in the Centennial part of Las Vegas. This appetizer called Golden Pouches is CRAZY SCRUMPTIOUS even my husband who HATES most curries loves this dish. It is made of crisp wrappers stuffed with mashed potatoes (Yum!) that sit in this yummy massaman curry and crispy shallots……DE-LISH!…. The pumpkin curry, spicy basil dish, and the Spicy Thai Chocolate Cake were also SUPER great!

Pumpkin Curry
Spicy Basil with Egg, Chicken, Beef, and Shrimp
Spicy Thai Chocolate Cake Special

A honorable mention has to go to the Newly Opened Cafe Peru for their overly stuffed Peruvian Sandwiches served on quality rolls.

No bad dishes to report this week.

Most Notable Plate of the week was the Ceviche Pescada from Moia Peruvian Restaurant. It was many layers of flavors and textures. It seemed like the most elevated Ceviche anywhere. It’s a FORKING Yum-Dinger!

Sadly the WORST plates of the week both came from Hawaiian Barbecue. I must admit that my previous visits were all at least good.

I tried the Coconut Chicken – BLEECH Yikes it tastes awful. The nuggets are also over cooked and are dry stringy chicken inside. Some nuggets are so HARD that I don’t know if they can pass in your system but I know that they can pass as ROCKS!

Everything is also dried out with the #4 – Bento. This is awful. Even the fried fish is EVAPORATED

Notable Restaurant of the week was The Charcoal Room at Santa Fe Station. The Bone-In Ribeye and The Chilean Sea Bass Special both were delicious and both were prepared to perfection. Service was also spectacular.

Bone In Ribeye from The Charcoal Room
Sea Bass Special from The Charcoal Room

The WORST dish of the week was the Birria Ramen from Chabelita’s Mexican Grill #3. It came with lots of tender birria but was so salty I couldn’t eat it and just after tasting it I almost turned into a pillar of salt. NOBODY COULD EAT it.

OH MY GOD…….Maybe the best pastrami sandwich might come from Wild Fig BBQ in the Sun City part of Summerlin…..GEE it’s so FORKING FANTABULOUS! that you will go home saying YES YES YES YESSSSSSS all the way home after trying that sandwich!

Carve Prime Rib is a Steakhouse that specializes is serving Prime Rib. It’s located in North Las Vegas Nevada in The Cannery Hotel/Casino. I’ve enjoyed the Ground-In-House Prime Rib Burgers and have gotten them several times. They were always delicious and juicy and always a better burger than what most places offer. I’ve written about this burger several times since it was so great. My burger would usually look like this.

On my most recent visit it looked slightly smaller maybe from being cooked to death.

Gosh it was dry and awful….Complained ….don’t know what happened here….(?????????)>>>>> I can’t say for sure but I sure don’t think they gave me ground Prime Rib because this tastes like an over cooked but very dense fast food burger…(??????????).

Nevada targets fake “Ghost Kitchens” on food delivery apps. It always amazes me the way people dream up all kinds of ways to rip people off. I wish Nevada would target the jerks that steal gift cards and plant the fake ones.

There is some sort of Rock N Roll Marathon this weekend that will make dining at Downtown Restaurants and the Strip Las Vegas Restaurants challenging.

I just read that LONG TIME KOSHER RESTAURANT Mother Falafel is now NO LONGER A KOSHER RESTAURANT. They have changed their business hours and are now open 7 days a week. They have added new items to their Mediterranean Menu. From reading about the new $5.99 chicken sandwich………In case you don’t know kosher meats cost on an average triple of non kosher meats and that higher cost must be passed on to the consumer for a kosher restaurant to stay in business. A lot is involved for kosher meat and that just has to cost more. Don’t know if the change is due tohigh food cost or a change in ownership?

In other Las Vegas Food News I see that The Goodwich (sandwich shop) closed. I have not read about this anywhere. I only noticed when I was planning a visit. The Goodwich was nice little sandwich shop downtown that was decorated with lots of comics. It also had a dog friendly patio.

I can’t get a weekend reservation at Esther’s Kitchen. In case you don’t know…Esther’s Kitchen is a popular downtown Italian Restaurant located in the Arts District. The original location that was next door was very small but I was able to get a reservation there a few times and once at the newest location. The new location is at least triple the size. I’ve been there once with a reservation and tried to reserve a spot again. I couldn’t make a reservation on-line so I called. I was told that they were booked for a month but I could wait for a bar seat or make a reservation for during the week. I do note that I haven’t had any trouble with reservations at Esther’s Kitchen’s sister Restaurants in Summerlin (Ada’s Food & Wine and also Al Solito Posto that actually is a little nicer than Esther’s in my opinion). Esthers Kitchen is a good restaurant but hey Monzu’s Bread is better so BAH!

One of 2025 most anticipated restaurants is NOT COMING to the Wynn.

James Beard and Michelin Starred Chef and Restauranteur Fabio Trabocchi is not bring his Mediterranean Seafood Restaurant Fiola Mare to the Wynn.

The Las Vegas Review Journal still posts that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are still opening their Rock and Brews Restaurant in 2023 in The Strat……….,So I reckon that’s also not coming.

A much better fit would have been in the Rio because they already have a Kiss Museum.

And a KISS Monster Golf there.

At Resorts World the highly Anticipated Sister Restaurant of the Michelin Starred Stubborn Seed Restaurant opened. It’s by James Beard Nominated, Bravo Top Chef Jeremy Ford……………..I made a reservation and canceled it because all reservations at the time I made my reservation I had to check what tasting menu that I was ordering from. I had to order one of the tasting menus. I’m certain that the food is amazing but I don’t fancy a few of the dishes on those menus. I contacted Stubborn Seed on Facebook and asked if a substitute could be made. They thanked me for contacting them and never answered. ….BAH!………………Since then…….. I read that the Ala Carte Menu is only offered at the bar without a reservation. So now I know I can never get a nice table in the dining room there unless I fancy every plate on one of the tasting menus. Bah!

Las Vegas FOOD NEWS – Nusr-Et Steakhouse Suddenly Closes and Best Dish Out of the Week

According to something I read on Facebook Nusr-Et Steakhouse on the Las Vegas Strip suddenly closed this week. Doors were locked and the help showed up to locked doors. This restaurant is by Turkish Chef, Butcher, and some sort of Internet SUPER STAR Nusret Gokce.

This restaurant offered steaks for up to $1,500.00 on the Lunch Menu.

I was here for a reasonably priced ($39.00) three course lunch.

The Las Vegas Review Journal wrote that they are expected to re-open in a new location…………….(maybe they will?)

Best Dish I had out of the week was the Winter Squash from The Pepper Club.

Winter Squash with Brown Butter, Sage, Pomegranate Molasses, and Gorgonzola Dolce was full of flavors and was delicious!
