Tikva’s Grill is a casual Israeli Style Kosher Mediterranean Restaurant in Las Vegas Nevada. Here you order things like falafels, shawarma, kabobs, schnitzel, and hummus. It’s casual. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself.
We shared a three meat platter and it comes with TONS of salads, dips and made in house pita breads.
The salads and dips are fresh and well flavored. One of the tomato salads is spicy. Some are also sweeter than I’m used to like the carrot salad. The pickles also run sharp. Pita is fresh made in house but is more flat than fluffy.
The three meat plate we got was beef kabob, steak, and chicken thigh with 1/2 rice and 1/2 fries.
The meats are all very fresh tasting, deep with flavor, and all are very juicy. The char on the steak is especially delicious.
The fries are fresh, HOT, and with fluffy interiors.

I’ve been making a lot of snack type foods for gatherings and thought up these mini tacos. I made them out of turkey because ground turkey is very inexpensive and easy to feed a big group of people with….I also thought that instead of traditional loose meat in a taco it would be better to have it more solid so it’s easier to eat in a group and I can also make it more moist that way. I used three pounds of ground turkey and made 54 turkey weenies so that is about 54 cocktail servings or maybe 12 dinners?
Ingredients –
3 lbs. ground turkey
6 eggs – lightly beaten
1 + 1/2 cup panko
8 cloves garlic – ground to paste
7 oz mild hatch chili – (roasted, stem & seeds removed – diced)
1 cup -10 oz. roasted & diced peppers & onions
5 Tablespoons Taco Seasoning (this makes more than you need – 1/4 cup chili powder, 1 t.granulated garlic, 1 t. granulated onion, 1/4 t. cayenne, 1 t. oregano, 2 t. smoked paprika, 2 T. ground cumin, 1T+1t. sea salt, 2 t. ground black pepper.)
1/2 cup scallions – chopped
1/4 cup hatch chili liquid that came out of peppers when you roasted them. (or chicken broth)
non stick spray
olive oil for spraying weenies
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 350F.
Spray sheet pans with non stick spray.
Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl.
Pack meat into pastry bag and squeeze out about pinky length weenies with a little space around them.
After about 15 minutes in the oven they will be done and you can stuff them into mini tacos and top as desired.
You can chill or freeze some for latter. When cold they need about 20 minutes in a 350F oven. I topped them with pico (tomatoes, onions, cilantro, pickled jalapeños, jalapeño brine, lime juice, salt, pepper)
Taco Flavored Turkey Weenies (1/2 got pickled avocado and other half I piped Rondele garlic herb cheese
The Volcano Grill is (according to their website) the world’s first Fast-Casual Hibachi Restaurant with two locations in Las Vegas Nevada. You order and pay at the counter and either order some sort of plate or bowl or hibachi burrito. Then you get your drink and seat yourself.
We saw them recently featured on two different local Las Vegas TV shows and they seemed so good we wanted to give them a try. They also won some sort of Channel 5 award for excellence.
I tried a 1/2 fried chicken and a 1/2 (premium) salmon with 1/2 noodles 1/2 grilled rice with a miso strawberry salad. My salad comes first.
The salad cam with fried crispy noodles on the side and is adorned with dried out carrot shreds that seem old.
Then our meals come.
I got 1/2 fried chicken, 1/2 (premium) salmon 1/2 grilled rice, 1/2 noodles and some extra sauces ginger, sweet garlic, sriracha.
Chicken – dry and stringy
salmon – slightly over cooked
noodles – ok
rice – ok
All the sauces were weird
My husband had the 1/2 beef (m/r), 1/2 shrimp, 1/2 noodles, 1/2 grilled rice and the Japanese salsa sauce, mustard sauce.
The best of the plate surprisingly was the beef – a little over but ok
Shrimp taste old but are not spoiled
Eggrolls are soggy.
Volcano Grille – Not the best (slight update the owner saw my pictures and said that they were having a bad day on the day of my visit and invited us back. We were not interested in returning since this place is further out than we normally go)
Above The Crust is a casual little Pizza Restaurant located in the North/West part of Las Vegas Nevada. Their menu offers the usual pizzas, calzones, sandwiches, wings, and they also offer things like house made potato chips, Asian chicken salads, and pizza of the day. On the day of my visit here I think the pizza of the day was something like peaches with caramel?
Anyways – We ordered and paid at the counter and sat ourselves.
We shared a spinach and cheese calzone and a plain pizza.
Spinach and Cheese Calzone
Cheese Pizza
Both are kinda flat and bland. The pizza has zero seasoning. I never tasted anything so bland before. The crust and sauce are both dying for a little salt. The calzone is hard to eat….They did fill it with lots of ricotta cheese but it is also unseasoned. I wanted it to be at least seasoned like a frozen ravioli. It’s large portions of food so I bring home a bunch to doctor up.The end crust is thin and hard and kinda dense. It’s almost like a hard pretzel but without salt.
Above The Crust – Good for people who prefer Bland and Unseasoned Foods
Holsteins is a casual Burger & Milkshake & Bar kind of restaurant located in Downtown Las Vegas Nevada. In case they seem familiar to you then maybe you remember that they used to be located in the Cosmopolitan Hotel/Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. They offer many different milkshakes (Alcohol & no Alcohol) appetizers, salads, sides, AND BURGERS – wagyu & chuck blend fresh ground in house – various toppings on brioche with cracked black pepper buns, a chicken sandwich, a salmon burger, a vegetarian burger, and a couple entrees.
I tried the Rising Sun Burger (Kalbi Glaze, Crispy Yams, Nori Furikake, Tempura Avocado, Spicy Mayo). Added a side of Crinkle Cut Sweet Potatoes.
It’s a BIG burger. I know I have to take half home so I cut it in half.
This is a very good burger. It’s the juiciest one I ever had in Vegas. It also has a great burger taste and the toppings are different and interesting. The burger is so juicy that the bottom bun sort of melts.
The sweet potato fries are also very good with great flavors and are well seasoned. They came out crisp and hot with soft moist centers.
My husband tried the BBQ Green Chile Burger (Green Chile Hash, Pepper Jack Cheese, Tempura Jalapeño, Hickery BBQ Sauce).
With a side of Onion Rings.
He was surprisingly pleased with the burger because it was delicious, juicy, and also prepared to a perfect Medium-Rare.
The onion rings are very well seasoned and are very crispy. They come with a chipotle ranch dip.
I don’t know if I will be able to try other things on the menu since the burgers are really great here.

Dining with DOGS is just a “Fluff” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my late dog Louie. He always enjoyed going out to eat. When he got elderly he came down with aggressive cancer. We were told that poor old Louie only had 3 months or maybe up to 6 months to live. Since Louie always enjoyed going out to eat I took him out to eat as often as I could. Instead of the 3-6 month diagnosis Louie made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat when I can and when the weather is right.
September started out too hot to dine out with dogs so they got car rides and ate something at home.
The dogs enjoyed chicken from Pollo Camparo.
www.USComparo.com
The dogs always enjoy a car ride to In-N-Out for a cheese burger.
www.In-N-Out.com
Then the dogs got another car ride to In-N-Out Burger.

This time they got an Arby’s Roast Beef Sandwich.
The dogs always enjoy an Arby’s Roast Beef.

It’s starting to cool down now.
They also got a burger from Carl’s Jr.

We think we might be able to dine out with DOGS again by next week.
Well that was Dining with Dogs or actually Mostly Dogs Eating Cheeseburgers for September 2025. We hope that you’ve enjoyed and we hope to see you next month.

Aces and Ales is a 24/7 Gaming, Bar, and American Restaurant with three locations in Las Vegas Nevada. The North Tenaya Way location is in the North/West part of Las Vegas. This location has a bar on one side.
And dining areas to the right side.
I tried the Crispy Hot Chicken Breast Sandwich with a side salad.
It a very generous serving of nicely battered chicken dressed in hot chili crisp, and some pickled vegetables on a bun. The chicken is moist and the chili crisp is spicy but not too spicy. The salad is large and fresh. All in all this is pretty darn good!
My husband tried the Juicy Lucifer Stuffed Burger with Onion Rings. I do note that there is no mention on the menu of a creamy garlic aioli called “Crack Sauce” on the sandwich. My husband suspected that they might use mayo so he asked but he shouldn’t have to ask. (of course he special requested no sauce on the burger).
See no mention of “Crack Sauce.”
The burger is OK but I do have to admit that the onion rings are odd.
They aren’t crisp and have like a doughnut batter around the onion rings inside……They are like onion filled doughnuts. I guess they are onion doughnuts.
Remember that the crispy chicken sandwich was pretty darn good and the side salad was big and very fresh!
The California Fish Grill is a Casual Seafood Restaurant Chain. They offer Responsibly Sourced Seafood such as Atlantic Salmon, Shrimp, Swai, Ahi Tuna, Maui Maui, and more. They offer plates that come with sides, bowls, salads, sandwiches, tacos, and children’s meals. Soft beverages, limited cocktails, beer, and wine is offered here.
It’s casual. You order and pay at the counter and someone calls your name when your order is ready.
They were very nice at this location and cooked the salmon less than well done like they always do at the Centennial location.
Today I tried the 1/2 Cajun and 1/2 Garlic Butter with Balsamic Brussels Sprouts and Fire Roasted Street Corn. Today the fish is good. The sauces aren’t terrible but are more like spreads than sauces. I’d get different ones next time. The Brussels Sprouts are very good. The corn is tasty but a little over cooked.
My husband got the Fish & Chips.
2 out of three pieces of fish are very good. One is weird. Somehow it has raw batter in the middle of the fish.
Also the fries were served cold today.
We also shared some Parmesan Green Beans.
These are always very good! Even my dogs love them.
