Shuck’s Tavern Gaming & Oyster Bar Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try!

Shuck’s Tavern Gaming & Oyster Bar has two locations in Las Vegas Nevada. They are open twenty four hours a day and are open seven days a week. The North/West Centennial Location offers bar seating, booths, and traditional tables inside.

They offer all your bar dinks, a traditional American Menu, and of course OYSTERS, shellfish, and a seafood heavy menu.

We started out by trying Cadillac Margaritas.

They don’t taste traditional to me but they really are so strong that they can LIFT WEIGHTS!

For my main I tried the grilled haddock that comes with mixed vegetables and wild rice blend.

It’s nothing fancy or original but everything is prepared perfect and seems fresh. It’s also a very large portion and is two meals for some people. It sure is worth the reasonable $19.99 that it cost today. (subject to change)

My husband tried the Jambalaya.

It came with your choice of rice or pasta and cheesy garlic toast. My husband said that it is good and flavorful. All the fish was cooked nicely but wasn’t spicy as he likes but is still good. He already wants to come back to try more.

My Trip to SK Seafood Restaurant Las Vegas NV – Authentic Cantonese Seafood Restaurant

SK Seafood Restaurant is a casual Cantonese Style Seafood Restaurant located in the Chinatown Area of Las Vegas Nevada. They offer a large menu of appetizers, soups, delicacies like abalone and sea cucumber, live seafood, many proteins, tofu, vegetables, and claypot.

English is the second language here. They have some sort of Chinese Food Network on the big screen TV, They were cooking brains and some sort of stomach.

they serve everyone a hot pot of tea to go with your food. I noticed a few other bottled beverages are served here.

We started out by sharing the cold cucumbers.

They are light and refreshing.

We have to try something seafood so we tried the stir fried fish filet with assorted mushrooms.

It’s a large plate for sharing with a lot of mushrooms and perfectly cooked fish. I enjoyed most of the mushrooms but one type came out very hard and was difficult to eat. There are chunks of ginger that are explosive…..LIKE A BOMB……….I think it would be much better (FOR MY TASTE) if the ginger was chopped fine or ground.

We also shared the Cantonese Chicken.

This one taste amazing (The chicken is well infused with flavors and was tender) but it is extremely difficult to eat because it’s made up of end pieces of TINY chicken with skin and bone on each piece with only a morsel of meat……It looks like much more but you are looking at a lot of rubbery chicken skin……..I think it’s a total of maybe only two ounces of chicken meat.

Showing Off

Showing off is just showing you some food I made mostly for gatherings.

Up above is

Apple, Hazelnut, Taleggio Cheese, Shishito Pepper Pizza

Potato and Cheese stuffed Peppers

Amarena Cherry Goat Cheese topped lightly Pickled Beet Slices

Tomato,Pesto, Cheese, Pizza

Butternut Squash, cannoli cheese, pistachio pizza

Macaroni & Cheese Stuffed Potatoes

Everyone loves all three of these!

Everyone likes pizza or just about everyone. I made pizza and pizza rolls. They really are the same just put together different. To my surprise the pizza rolls went first. I guess they are easier to just pick up and take.

Corned Beef & Cabbage Hand Pies

Corned Beef & Cabbage Hand Pies

For one gathering I brought this –

Chipotle rice corn cheddar with potato string wrapped peppers

Smashed red mini potatoes topped with duchess potatoes

Corned beef and Cabbage hand pies

Cherry filled cookies with chocolate drizzle

It was a morning group so the cookies and potato bites went first followed by the stuffed peppers but it all eventually went

The next day had a St Patrick’s Party and brought a big box of corned beef and cabbage hand pies and a small tray of smashed mini red potatoes topped with duchess potatoes. They went like lightning there.

This next one coming isn’t for a gathering but is worth showing off. Just starting out a pastrami.

This gets cooked up with water to cure the brisket.

This needs to sit in the refrigerator and cure for give or take a week and then it gets smoked.

It’s fun to cook and to show off.

My Trip to Rebellion Pizza Las Vegas NV

Rebellion Pizza is a casual Pizza Shop with two locations in Nevada. One is in Henderson and the second location is in the Northwest Part of Las Vegas that is called Centennial. They offer what they call New York Style and Sicilian Style. The Las Vegas (Centennial) location is small and casual. They have a sort of space theme going on with traditional tables and half booths. Soft beverages, wine, and beer is available.

We started out by sharing some Burrata Bake.It comes with fresh baked focaccia.

It’s fun and kinda like a deconstructed pizza. You grab a triangle of focaccia and spoon on a rich tomato sauce and gooey melted burrata cheese. This is fun and tasty. I think most people would like it.

We also shared a small Roma Pizza.

The crust is thin with a nice crispy bottom and they use a good quality cheese. The pesto looks good but has little flavor and the tomatoes aren’t so ripe. I would recommend getting a different pizza.

We enjoyed the Burrata Bake and would recommend it.

Corned Beef & Cabbage Hand Pies Recipe Idea

I thought Corned Beef & Cabbage Hand Pies would be a good idea for a St Patrick’s Party. I bought a brined corned beef from the supermarket and boiled it adding some garlic, onion, carrots, and some leftover pastrami spice. I used the cooking liquid from the corned beef to braise the cabbage When the corned beef was cold it got sliced and some cabbage got chopped. Then I made the dough. Brushed the inside of the dough with beaten egg whites.

Filled the dough with some corned beef and cabbage. Closed the dough and brushed with egg yolks. Baked till light brown.

These went in the 350F oven for around 30 minutes.

Hamantaschen Recipe

This recipe is different but based on Chef Micheal Solomonov”s recipe for Hamentasen. (he suggests apricot filling). I really didn’t mean to change his recipe but made 3 substitutes due to what I had in my house. This recipe makes a little over 30 cookies.

Ingredients for around 30 cookies

8 oz unsalted butter melted

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup dark brown sugar

1 egg

3 Tablespoons pure maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanila extract

3 cups flour

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon course sea salt

optional – a teaspoon or two of water if the dough seems too dry

Filling for your hamentashen (I used cheery pie filling and chocolate drizzle that I made by melting chocolate chips with butter)

Directions

Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix all the ingredients (expect filling and optional chocolate drizzle) till the dough feels nice. I thought my dough was too dry so I added a couple teaspoons of water.

Roll out dough in small batches. (I used plastic wrap over dough)

Cut into 3 inch circles.

Add about a teaspoon of filling and bring up edges of dough into that familiar triangle shape. Add each one to parchment lined pans.

They go into the oven until lightly browned (ovens differ but in my oven mine took about 25 minutes.

A Special THANKS!!! To Chef Micheal Solomonov so I could do what I got here!

Chabelitas Mexican Grill #3 Las Vegas NV – 24/7 Mexican Food

Chabelitas Mexican Grill is a very casual 24/7 Mexican Restaurant with three locations in Las Vegas Nevada. The #3 Craig Road location does not serve alcohol but does have many signs for beer so either beer is coming or the signs are confusing.

It’s a very casual place. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself. Someone runs the food out when it’s ready.

I tried the Birria Ramen.

It is packed with a generous amount of Birria that is tender.

BUT-

It’s a FORKING SALT BOMB. I can’t eat it.

I do note that I might be more sensitive to salt than most people. My husband who not sensitive to salt tries this. He said that it is also too salty for him and he can not eat this bowl either so it indeed is not edible.

My husband got the Beef Burrito with Cheese Enchilada Combo.

They give you limes, green sauce, and red sauce to embellish the plate. My husband didn’t say much about this plate. He said that the red sauce was very spicy, the beans were very loose, and the cheese in the cheese enchilada was hard and not melty.

My husband was very thoughtful and ordered a fish taco for me because he had a feeling that I wouldn’t like the Birria Ramen here.

The fish taco isn’t bad. It’s breaded and fried mild tasting white fish. The taco is sauced with a tasty creamy chipotle sauce. It’s also stuffed with Mexican Rice and sits in double shelled white tortillas. It’s very filling for a taco.

Chabelita’s might be on the very average side but it’s open 24 hours 7 days a week.

The Charcoal Room Santa Fe Station Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork!

The Charcoal Room is an “OffStrip” Steakhouse with at least two locations in Las Vegas Nevada (Santa Fe Station and Palace Station). At the Santa Fe Station Location lots of wine bottles are on display. Linen and Wines are set on the tables. A large bar is in the center of the dining area surrounded by traditional tables and booths.

They start you off with a basket of warm bread and some butter.

For our starter we split a gem salad (greens, poached pears, hazelnuts, goat cheese, dijon vinaigrette).

Our waiter Justin raved and raved about the Chilean Sea Bass Special so I had to get it.

WOW! Justin wasn’t kidding. This sea bass is real perfection. When seafood is really great it just melts in your mouth. This really was amazing. To the side is a buttery mustardy sauce. Under the fish is delicious baby carrots with fresh cooked spinach. It’s also a large portion and I have enough for dinner and a lunch.

The Bone In Ribeye is just as perfect.

I tried a bite. I usually hate ribeye steaks but this one is really tender and also delicious.

We also had a side order of macaroni and cheese.

It was creamy and was made with lots of tasty cheese.

We were too full to try dessert.
