Hummus Club is a fast food build it yourself Mediterranean type bowl place that until recently was known as the popular chain called Hummus Republic. The only differences that I noticed is that the atmosphere is filled with Indian Music and they do happen to offer a few Indian Specials in addition to the Mediterranean build your own bowls with a variety of hummus.
Here are the Indian Fusion Dishes
We try the Pani Puri.
They have vegetables inside dressed with tamarind sauce. No potatoes or chickpeas like what you normally get. Also the chutney water is very weak.
Here’s a build your own bowl with harissa honey chicken and lemon herb chicken.
Today either the hot line isn’t working correctly or they ran late heating up the pans because the food was served almost cold.
On the other hand they did make the chicken tikka masala bowl fresh. They gave me white rice instead of yellow rice.
Not as flavorful as from most places but better than frozen food.
Alchemist Bar & Restaurant is located in Chinatown. It was awarded Best Off Strip Bar in Vegas and more recently by OnDeck a Highest Independent Restaurant Award so this seemed like a logical place to try. Inside is a large bar surrounded by high top tables, booths, and a pool table.
You can order wine here but their specialty are their cocktails. Below are just some of the cocktail offerings.
I tried the Nonna’s Concoction
I never had anything like this before. Tomato Water, Rhubarb, Tequila, Mezcal …….Really smooth and different.
My husband tried the Butter Me Up
This one is HONKING Strong but very layered with flavors and it comes with caramel pop corn. Then after a sip you still get banging different layers of flavors. Now this one was super interesting.
I’d consider the food menu sort of New American with Global Fusion.
We started out by sharing the catch of the day spring rolls (sea bass)
They were nicely prepared and nicely presented. We both thought they were tasty and the sauce on the side wasn’t too sweet or too spicy.
For my dinner I tried the Norwegian Salmon.
The fish is on the thin side for salmon but the skin on the fish is masterfully crispy and the center is a nice medium. This sits on the butteriest pomme puree that’s also embellished with pesto and anther sauce that gives off layers of delicious flavors. This is also adorned with some bread that mops this up deliciously.
My husband tried the Jumping Beef.
Tender Vietnamese Style Beef with a nicely prepared sunny up egg with miso confit tomatoes and bread.
Best of the week was Tamba a contemporary Indian Restaurant. On both visits the food really was amazing and one of the bests of the year. Below are pictures from two visits.
Another very good was Lucino’s Pizza. They offer either the best or one of the very best Philly Style cheesesteaks that you can get in Vegas. Also other things we’ve tried from Lucino’s were pretty darn good too!

Firefly Tapas is a Spanish Style Taps Restaurant and Bar with two locations in Vegas, The Hughes Center Drive location is located near to the Las Vegas Strip. It’s spacious and rich looking inside with a large bar area, large dining areas and a large patio.
Whatever you order they always offer you complimentary bread with delicious spiced butter with almonds.
Our favorite tapas from our last visit was the tuna tartare so we got it again.
It’s different. This tuna tastes more like raw tuna.
Last time the tuna was marinated and had a delicious sauce. See below.
last years tuna tartare
Don’t know what happened with the tuna tartare here?
The apple manchego salad was delicious and very good.
So was the tomato basil soup with mini grilled cheese but-
One sandwich hardy had any cheese in it.
I thought the stuffed peppers were tasty.
The steak and mushroom skewers also were delicious but –
The steak is very chewy
That was my trip to Firefly Tapas
Las time the food was either perfect or amazing. (well most places aren’t perfect all the time)
After multiple visits I can recommend getting The French Dip and the ever changing menu of desserts because both were so far delicious and top notch on all our visits.
Below is the chocolate tart with blood orange sorbet
The most disappointing plate here might be the HK Burger
The roll tastes burnt and the burger has almost no flavor at all. I was told that the burger is ground in house and the menu reads that this is a Linz (from Chicago) Angus patty. The burger comes with your choice of fries or a salad and at the time of my visit was $28.
Pictures below are from previous visits. All the desserts and the beef bourguignon was very good.
Stunning Atmosphere and lots of wine to try.
Some things are better than other things here so enjoy the lovely atmosphere, maybe drink some wine, and get the French Dip and the desserts!
The BEST of the week certainly was the multi course dinner from Bar Boheme.Everything was superb from service to food to wine pairing. Here are pictures from a couple visits.
Unfortunately there also was a worst of the week. The house made pastrami rueben from Fine Company was awful.
The pastrami wasn’t coked enough so the fat on the ends was so hard that you could use it as dental floss. The flavors were messed up too and were so unbalanced that you really mostly taste liquid smoke and black pepper. PLUS they don’t put much in the sandwich. Don’t know why but I brought half home and the pastrami and scant amount of cabbage inside only weighed LESS THAN ONE OUNCE.

This was The FORKING Las Vegas FOOD Buzz of the Week
Spicy Hero Sichuan Cuisine is located in a small but busy mall in Chinatown.
Below is a small part of the inside. Before we ordered our server warned us that everything here is very spicy.
We started out by sharing the Sichuan Spicy Chicken with Chili Oil.
It’s sliced up chicken with bones, bone fragments, rubbery boiled skin, topped with mild chili oil and cilantro (this sure isn’t for everyone) It looks spicy but isn’t. It looks and tastes like they used sesame seeds instead of Sichuan peppers here.
Next was Eggplant in Chili Paste.
This is mainly eggplant in mild chili oil. Not spicy and not flavored with much.
Next was Spicy Stir Fried Beef (my husband asked for extra spicy hot)
This is the only one that had some heat to it. The beef is nice and tender but this one also has little flavor to it The heat is medium-ish-hot. If this was from a Thai Restaurant I’d say the heat is 2-3 out of 5 depending on restaurant.
Gjelina is a contemporary restaurant and bar that is located on restaurant row in the Venetian Hotel/Casino. During lunch time they offer a menu with raw fish, salads, sandwiches, hand made pastas, wood fired pizzas, platters, vegetable sides, and more.
Inside are multiple dining areas and a bar.
We shared a vegetable side order of Oyster Mushrooms with Guajillo Pepper, and Cilantro-Avocado Emulsion.
Tasty – It’s almost like chicken taco filling. Somehow I almost wish this was a taco.
My main was the Blackened Sea Bass Sandwich withBlack Garlic Aioli and Slaw and house made potato chips.
This is harder to eat than it looks. There is a very generous amount of pickled vegetables under all that fish. It’s all very good but also hard to eat. The house made potato chips are also very good. Nice and crisp and seems free of oil.
My husband tried a Cured Chorizo Pizza (pomodoro, Calabrian Chili, Red Onion, Mozzarella)
They bring him seasonings too.
He said that this pizza was delicious and very good.
Bar Boheme is a contemporary fine dining French Style Restaurant located in downtown Vegas in the Arts District. The chef is very well seasoned Vegas Native James Trees. He has worked for many of the biggest name chefs on the Las Vegas Strip. He also was a James Beard finalist and has worked for chef Gordon Ramsay on a few of his TV Shows. For dinner you can order a la carte, Prix Fixe, and a seven course tasting menu. Right now he is offering his Prix Fixe ,Menu for restaurant week.
You will start off with some amuse bouche that’s ultra fancy with several layers of flavors and textures.
Then you get French Baguette and French Butter and you can add on an even fancier French Butter.
Now the first courses come.
Gnocchi a la Pareienne
Salade Nicoise
Main Coures –
Barramundi Cuit a la Vapeur (lentils & mushroom stock)
