Arata Sushi – Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try!

Arata Sushi has two locations in Las Vegas. We went to the North/West location at 3250 N Tenya Way. It’s a smaller sushi restaurant that only offers soft beverages.

We started out by trying the tempura vegetables.

Everything was tasty and fried very well all shattering crisp and seemed free of oil. We got onion rings and all fried sweet potatoes.

For our sushi we got fresh wasabi.

Here’s the Nevada Roll (tuna, salmon, yellowtail)

All the sushi held together well and all the fish used seemed reasonably fresh.

The Spicy Tuna isn’t too hot and has a bit of a kick to it.

The Salmon Lover Roll came with a fruit sauce that was not mentioned on the menu. This roll has the most flavors going on with it but has an unusual creamy texture to it that was odd to us.

Las Vegas Restaurant Week – Cantinetta Pizza & Pasta – Extended to June 19TH 2026 (June 12TH for some)

Cantinetta Pizza & Pasta is a full service Italian Restaurant and Bar located in the Summerlin part of Las Vegas Nevada. They are a sister restaurant to Brunella (Italian Restaurant) that is located in the Sun City part of Summerlin. Both restaurants have a Sofia Loren theme going on.

Here is the 2026 Restaurant week menu from Cantinetta. It seems reasonably priced for a four course dinner.

Whatever you order they start you off with their own fresh baked bread and sun-dried tomato oil.

Our first courses were –

Arancini

Pear & Gorgonzola Bruschetta

Second courses –

Burrata Brûlée

Insalate di Pere

Main Courses (we both ordered the Branzino)

We were too full for dessert so we had two Limoncello Mascarpone Cakes to go.

The food was mostly delicious! This time service was a bit off because we had a brand new waiter who was a bit off.

That was a taste of 2026 Restaurant week from Cantinetta.

Lox Recipe

I read a few lox recipes and found that lox is something that anyone can make. All it is – is salmon (preferably sushi grade) salt and sugar. You put the fish in salt and sugar for 2-3 days.

Here’s my slightly embellished recipe.

1 lb salmon (preferably sushi grade) – rinse and blot dry

2 cups sugar

2 cups course kosher salt

1 teaspoon crushed pink peppercorns

2 teaspoons dried dill

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Directions

Mix the salt, sugar, peppercorns, dill, and lemon zest together.

Get a ziplock bag and sandwich the salt and sugar mixture around the salmon.

Get all the air out and place in a bowl (I used the tape from my salmon package but that isn’t necessary.

Then place another heavy bowl over it.

About three days in the refrigerator

Pull off the skin and slice up and serve

While you are waiting for the lox to cure you might have the to make the mini bagels.

My Trip to Zaxby’s – North Las Vegas NV – Eh

Zaxby’s is a chicken theme fast food casual chain of restaurants. They offer appetizers, limited time specials, chicken fingers, boneless and regular chicken wings, sandwich meals, salads, kids menu, desserts and more.

We tried the Zaxby’s on Craig Road in North Las Vegas.

We ordered and paid and very quickly our meals arrived.

I tried a Grilled Asian Zensation Salad with citrus vinaigrette.

It’s kinda strange. I got fresh lettuce, cubes of chicken breast, some crispy noodles, a vegetable roll, and a BIG PILE OF COLE SLAW in the middle of the salad topped with a disgusting sauce. Maybe I could almost like this salad if it didn’t contain that very awful tasting sauce.

My husband did better. He got the signature Zaxby’s fried chicken sandwich with some fries and we shared fried cheddar bites.

This sandwich won’t win any prices for beauty but it is tasty and juicy.

Fries are reasonably good.

Cheddar bites are OK but they don’t look or taste like cheddar. They are kinda stringy.

We ordered a few sauces to try with the fries and cheddar bites.

Tongue Torch sauce, Hot Honey Mustard, and Spicy Zaxby’s. I think we liked the spicy Zaxby’s sauce the best.

Gave my dogs some when I got home.

Not the best and also not the worst.

Some things here are also better than other things.

Wahoo’s 24/7 – Gaming, Bar, and Fish Tacos – Centennial Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try

Wahoo’s specialty are fish tacos but they are also a 24/7 gaming, bar, and also restaurant with (at this time) six locations in Las Vegas Nevada. You can seat yourself in the bar –

Or the separate dining area –

Or the patio (not photoed)

You order and pay at the counter and someone runs you your order as it’s ready.

I tried three tacos. – salmon citrus-slaw taco, crispy pollock taco, 1988 spicy Wahoo taco.

The non-fried tacos are double shelled. They are all pretty good. Some have more flavors than others. I think the tastiest taco is the fried crispy fish taco. The batter is seasoned nice and the one tortilla on it seems to fit better. But they are all A-OK.

We also shared some onion rings that are also pretty good. The are very crispy and seem free of oil. Also the onions stay in place and don’t pull out when you eat them.

My husband had a three taco platter with rice and 1/2&1/2 beans. Carnitas, Shrimp, and a Fried Fish Taco

He was surprised that everything was at least good (especially the carnitas and shrimp)

I have to say Wahoo’s is Wroth a Try!

Peinto Thai Kitchen – Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try!

Peinto Thai Kitchen is located in the North/West part of Vegas. They are a full service Thai Restaurant that also offers beer and a wine list. Inside are traditional tables and booths.

I tried the Three Flavors Salmon (Sweet, Spicy, Sour). It came with steamed vegetables and rice.

It’s a generous portion of food and could possibly be two meals for some people. The salmon is cooked to well but is still moist inside. You need to use the sweet, spicy, sour sauce to add flavors to the dish. It’s tasty and good.

My husband tried the Plumena Spicy Noodle with Chicken. (#4 out of 5 for heat)

Everything thing here is tasty and #4 is a good amount of heat for this dish.

This is how you say it –

Dining Out With DOGS in Las Vegas NV – May 2026

Dining out with dogs is just a “Fluff” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my late dog Louie. He always enjoyed going out to eat. When he got elderly he came down with aggressive cancer. We were told he probably only had three months or possibly up to 6 months to live. Since Louie enjoyed going out to eat I took him out as often as possible and Louie made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat when I can and when the weather is right.

My dogs got to go to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill and enjoyed some Gyro Meat from my husband’s platter.

The dogs also got to enjoy some cucumbers, chick peas, and salmon from my salmon rice bowl too!

They always enjoy going to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill.

It was almost too hot to take the dogs out but we made to Mezzo Bistro & Wine Bar. The Dogs always love going to Mezzo.

They always enjoy starting out with a little bit of bread.

Then they get to enjoy some of my pesto chicken wrap.

and also some of my husband’s chicken parmesan platter.

The Dogs always enjoy going to Mezzo Bistro & Wine.

This week it was around 100F so it was too hot to dine out with dogs. So they got a car ride to In-N-Out Burger. The Giant Aussie tried to push the Beagle Mix out of his seat but he kept sitting down every time she pushed him and got to stay in his seat.

Then we got home.

Here you go-

They always enjoy an In-N-Out Burger.

Still HOT so it was a In-N-Out Car Ride again.

Here are driving away with a bag of their burgers.

They always enjoy In-N-Out Burgers.

That was Dining Out with DOGS for May 2026. We hope that you’ve enjoyed and we hope to see you next month.

My Trip to Braseria By Edo for Happy Hour – Las Vegas NV

Braseria By Edo is a fancy Spanish/French Style Restaurant and Bar located near to the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas Nevada. It’s located on a second level so you either walk up a flight of stair outside or use an elevator to get there,

We didn’t have a reservation so we were told that we could only sit at the bar.

They gave us happy hour menus so that’s what we tried.

I tried the Burger & Frites (with grilled onions, pickle, and brava sauce and I asked for a medium cook)

I was told that this is a 10 ounce burger? (My husband thought he heard 8 ounce???? so I’m not sure) anyways I cut it in half. That mess isn’t cheese either. It’s brava sauce and onions.

It’s full of juice but it is a sloppy mess.

I think it’s cooked pass medium

I try to eat it and when I pick up just half pieces of the burger fall off.

I can’t pick this up and eat it.

It’s too squishy and messy and falling apart.

I have to eat it with a knife and fork. It’s doesn’t taste bad.

Can’t eat the pickle because it is way too strong with acid for me.

Try the fries….and the house made ketchup vinaigrette. At the time I didn’t know if the fries or the ketchup was hot and spicy that builded up and kept getting hotter. It was too hot for me and I couldn’t eat many fries. Latter I figured out that it was the ketchup that was too hot.

My husband tried the Skirt Steak with Frites cooked medium-rare.

He said that the steak was cooked unevenly and maybe half of it was rare and very stringy. He said the green pepper sauce that came with it didn’t have much flavor.

That was my trip to Braseria By Edo.

Heavenly Pizza & Trattoria – Las Vegas NV – James Beard Award Wining – Worth a Try!

I read that Heavenly Pizza and Trattoria was by a James Beard Award Winner Chef so I thought it was Worth a Try!

It’s a little humble casual family-type little pizzeria with an amazing long and large wine list. (With MANY expensive bottles like $500.+)

My favorite of what we’ve tried was the slice of cheese pizza. It’s special and different. I never had pizza like this anywhere else before.

It’s a thin but very crisp crust that is charred on the bottom. The cheese seems like a good quality and the tomato sauce was rich. The pizza is also embellished with seasoning to make it taste just so.

Very crisp pizza – almost cracker or matzah like. Not like bread.

Then I had the branzino

It was topped with sweet roasted tomatoes and lots of mushrooms. The fish is cooked perfect and so is the rigatoni in a well made sauce.

My husband tried the Chicken Parmesan.

The chicken isn’t breaded.

Good sauce embellished with roasted sweet tomatoes. Nicely prepared rigatoni. Over cooked dry chicken.

Worth a Try for the pizza and some things.

FORKING AMAZING MINI Bagel Recipe

I make pizza dough often and bagel dough is similar but heavier with an added secret ingredient (malt flour) You also need a stand mixer to make this dough. I thought this would come out best making the dough day one and boiling and baking the bagels day two. I don’t mean to brag but these bagels really did come out FORKING AMAZING. At the moment they are the best bagels me or my husband has tasted in all of Vegas and in all of the Phoenix area.

Ingredient for up to 50 mini bagels

Dough

2 3/4 cup 110F filtered water

2 Tablespoons honey

1 pack dry active yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)

1 teaspoon sugar

6 3/4 cups bread flour

2 Tablespoon course sea salt

2 Tablespoons malt flour

Boiling water to start the cooking process for the bagels

add 2 Tablespoons honey

2 Tablespoons baking soda

Bagel toppings –

You also need to add sesame seeds

Poppy seeds

Everything bagel mix

non stick spray

Two day directions

Have your 110F water ready in a tub or bowl. Add the sugar, 2 T. honey and the yeast to that water and mix well and cover with a lid or plastic wrap. It need about ten minutes to make a foamy top.

In your mixer add the flour, malt flour, and salt. Use dough hook.

After water is foamy then you can add it to the flours.

The directions for my Kitchen Aid Mixer say not to use above speed number two with the dough hook so I did mine on speed number 2 for ten minutes. Depending on your brand of flour the recipe can be up to two tablespoons light or heavy with the flour or water. YOU NEED to look at the dough and decide it it needs slightly more water or more flour. The dough needs to stick together and pull away from the bowl.

Put the dough in a tub(s) or Bowl (s) and cover with lid or plastic wrap. Refrigerate over night.

DAY TWO

Cut the dough in quarters. Start with one quarter and roll it as long as your cutting board. Then cut that dough in half longways so you have two long thinner doughs and roll it smooth.

You need a couple sheet pans sprayed lightly with non stick spray.

For mini bagels you need to wrap dough around two fingers.

Then squish the ends into the dough.

Keep going.

Now you need your boiling water with the baking soda and honey added.

You also need your bagel toppings set up.

Pan of sesame seeds

Pan of poppy seeds

Pan of everything bagel mix

You also need to set your oven on air fry.

I boiled the bagels only maybe two minutes after they floated

Then they got dipped on both sides with seeds and back on the sprayed sheet pans t

They went in my oven set at air fry for only 10 minutes.

My first ones I made too small and were super mini. These I only wrapped around one finger.

Not perfect but they taste amazing.

Did a bit better with my 2nd batch with the dough wrapped around two fingers.

I also figured out a lox recipe to publish soon.

ENJOY!!!!
