Dining Out With DOGS in Metro Phoenix AZ – December 2022 Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery, Pad Thai Cafe, Culver’s, Phila-Deli

Dining out with dogs in Metro Phoenix is just a “FLUFF” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie. He was elderly and came down with aggressive cancer. He couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed going out to eat so I took him out to eat as often as I could. Instead of his 3-6 month diagnosis Louie made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat.

In Phoenix the weather is an issue. I don’t take them out when the temperature is above 90 degrees F or only up to 90 F in shade. I am aware that most food and drink can be harmful or toxic to dogs. (You should get “safe” and “foods to avoid” lists for dogs from your veterinarian) Usually only lean meat without sauce might be a safe bet. When you take your dog(s) to dine with you at a restaurant you need to know that not all patios are dog friendly….You need to see a sign or call and ask if it’s ok to bring your furry friend(s). When you and your dog(s) dine out you must keep your dog(s) close to your side. You also should respect the restaurant and not let your dog sit on restaurant furniture or eat off of restaurant plates.

We went to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery. They are a Pho-Free Vietnamese Restaurant. They offer around a dozen different banh mi baguette sandwiches, rice plates, noodle salad bowls, boba, and MORE!

Today I got the curry chicken with rice. It’s a very large portion. The dogs enjoy helping me with the chicken.

The dogs also enjoy helping my husband with his grilled pork rice plate.

We were on our way to Pad Thai Cafe in Glendale for take out and dining out in the nearby park.

It started raining so we didn’t dine out………Too bad but at least the dogs got a car ride. Even the next day it rained….So unusual for Phoenix. But the Take Out was good and we’d order these dishes again from Pad Thai Cafe.

The dogs enjoyed some chicken from the Pad King (It was very gingery in a good way).

They also enjoyed some beef from the Pad Prik King.

All of a sudden it got cold for here to sit outside for long……so we took the dogs out to our local Culver’s for a butter cheese burger.

You can clearly see my bigger dog is smiling. She’s so happy to be at Culver’s that she swats my smaller dog out of her way so she can see the Culver’s action.

Then we drive around to the Culver’s patio and crack open their butter cheese burger for them. I do have to say that these burgers are always nicely caramelized.

We give them around a third of the burger without the bun. The rest of the burger we give them as treats over the next two days.

They always enjoy a butter cheese burger from Culver’s.

It was still pretty cold outside but we made it to Phila-Deli in Glendale. They are a local sandwich and cheesesteak casual eatery.

The tuna hoagies are pretty good here but not so great to give the dogs.

tuna hoagie

So we got the dogs a child’s chicken finger meal.

Both dogs enjoyed the chicken fingers and we ate some of their fries.

My husband tried the new southwest cheese steak.

It’s extra steak meat, pepper jack cheese, onions, green bell peppers, chipotle peppers, and hatch chiles. I heard that it was pretty good!

The dogs enjoyed the chicken fingers today.

Dining Out With DOGS in Metro Phoenix AZ – Squid Ink Sushi, Twisted Italian, Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery, Naked Q BBQ November 2022

Dining out with dogs in Metro Phoenix is just a “FLUFF” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie. He was elderly and got diagnosed with aggressive cancer. He couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed going out to eat so I took him out to eat as much as possible. Instead of the three-six month diagnosis Louie made it another seventeen months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat when I can. It’s Phoenix so the temperature is an issue. Anything over 90 degrees is too hot and not safe to dine out with dogs. Also not all restaurant patios are dog friendly. You must see a dog friendly sign or call and ask the restaurant if it’s ok to dine there with your dog. You also need a list of safe and non-safe food to feed your dog because most food and drink that you consume might be harmful or toxic to your dog. dogs should be kept close by your side and you should not let your dog(s) sit on restaurant furniture or eat off of restaurant plates.

We made it to Squid Ink Sushi in Peoria.

The nice server brought my dogs a bowl of water to start with.

We all tried the tempura green beans.

The green beans were very lightly battered and came with a dipping sauce that tasted mostly like soy sauce. To my surprise the dogs really liked eating green beans.

I tried the blackened salmon bowl.

It came with a medley of fresh vegetables, sushi rice, and an Asian dipping sauce. I scrapped off the seasoning so my dogs could eat some salmon….They really enjoyed the salmon too. My bigger dog kept whacking my knee to give her more.

My husband got the wagyu cheese and bacon burger.

It was a really great delicious juicy burger last time…This time it came out kinda dried out but the dogs sure didn’t mind….My smaller dog waits nicely for his next bite.

The dogs and us also got to dine at Twisted Italian in Peoria. It’s an Italian restaurant that offer a lot of your usual Italian dishes but also offers pierogi and Italian rellenos. They only have two patio tables but so far we’ve been lucky and manage to get one.

The server was very nice and started the dogs off with a pan of water.

My husband started out with a Mediterranean side salad.

sun-dried tomatoes, feta, artichokes, mixed greens

I went with the salmon lunch plate special.

This plate might be the best deal on the lunch menu. It’s a big plate that can sure be dinner. lots of fresh vegetables (asparagus, zucchini, broccoli) Today they added marinated bell peppers. I got 4oz of salmon that is cooked perfect today and on the side is a very generous serving of angel hair pasta in a garlic-parm wine sauce with capers. The dogs get to eat all of my zucchini (they always love zucchini) and they get a good portion of the salmon.

My husband got the made-to-order queen cut lasagna with a side of sausage.

The dogs got to eat a little bit of sausage.

We did alright at Twisted Italian

We always go to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix. They are a Pho Free Vietnamese casual restaurant. The main digs are the banh mi sandwiches, rice plates, and noodle salad bowls.

Today we both got banh mi sandwiches. I got the chicken and my husband got the shaken beef.

chicken banh mi

I eat half but some people can eat the whole thing. It really is very delicious with the fresh herbs, pickled vegetables and house made aioli. The chicken is seasoned just so and is tender. Even the bread is very good. It’s made with rice flour locally. It is easier to eat because it doesn’t feel as heavy as a flour roll.

Both dogs enjoy the chicken and the beef.

We always enjoy going to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery!

We did take out from Naked Q BBQ in Phoenix. They also have two other locations. One in Glendale and one in Scottsdale. We enjoyed our take out at a nearby park.

My personal favorite from Naked Q is their smoked turkey. The turkey is consistency moist and delicious. You will never go wrong with the turkey from Naked Q BBQ. Today me and the dogs had it with a garden salad.

Both dogs really enjoyed the turkey.

“YUM!”
“Keep it coming!”

My husband got a two meat plate of BBQ Brisket, Chicken, with cornbread, slaw, macaroni and cheese and added on sausage.

You never go wrong with the sausage. The chicken is also good…not very BBQ-ee but good. Today the brisket taste great but some of the slices are a little dry. The dogs are great and they don’t mind if they get the drier slices. They also enjoyed moist chicken.

“Ill eat all you dry meat for you”
“Keep it coming…..Don’t stop!”

Dining Out With DOGS in Metro Phoenix AZ – Phila-Deli, Angry Chickz, Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery, The Craftsman Cocktails & Kitchen October 2022

Dining out with dogs is just a “Fluff” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie. He was elderly and was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. He couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed going out to eat so I took him out to eat as much as possible. Instead of his 3-6 month diagnosis he made it another 17 months.

Today I take my current dogs out to eat when the weather is 90 degrees (with shade) and lower temps. I also know that not all outdoor restaurant patios are dog friendly. I either look for a “dog friendly” sign posted or I call and ask the restaurant if it’s ok to bring dogs. I am also aware that most of the food and drink that I consume can be harmful or even toxic to dogs. (It’s always best to get a list of safe foods and foods to avoid from your veterinarian.) I also know to keep my dogs close to me when dining out and not to let them eat off of restaurant plates.

It’s starting to cool off in Phoenix and I’m being to take the dogs out again. The temperature was just under 90 degrees and Phila-Deli in North Glendale opens early and they have a shaded patio so I can take the dogs there.

I got a tuna hoagie there.

tuna hoagie

My husband got a cheesesteak with extra cheese.

cheesesteak with extra cheese

We also shared some bulgogi fries.

bulgogi fries

The dogs were both very happy to eat some cheese steak with the onions carefully removed. (Onions are very harmful to dogs).

I love Phila-Deli
Oh come to my mouth cheese steak

Phila-Deli changed ownership a few months back and added some new items to the menu. I noticed a new sign on the door that said “service dogs only.” So we inquired about that. It turns out that the original owner loved dogs so much that she used to let them dine inside with people. She also used to run bowls of water and offer lunch meat to her dog customers. The new owners said that dogs are still allowed on the patio. They only allow service dogs inside.

Our next dining adventure was food from Angry Chickz (a Nashville Style Chicken Tender Fast Food Chain). They don’t have patio dining but we have a nice little park nearby to enjoy the food at.

We got way more food than we needed-

Combo #3, Combo #4 side order medium tender, side order hot tender, side order country tender, and we got some free fries instead of the macaroni and cheese we asked for

but we also got an unseasoned tender just for the dogs.

side order chicken tender in “Country” no heat

Both dogs enjoyed the country tender very much……It was very juicy and very tender with a crispy exterior.

The medium and hot chicken tenders had a wet exterior. The medium was very HOTT! We both thought that the hot was not edible…It was painfully nuclear HOTTTTTTTT! I can’t even imagine how hot the x hot and angry hot can be………..I will add that the Cole slaw was unusually good. It was fresh and crisp, didn’t drip and really was flavored just so.

My bigger dog enjoyed the chicken tender that she kept slapping me for her next bite.

The smaller dog just had this happy look on his face all the way home.

We also made it to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix. They are a Pho-Free Vietnamese Eatery that specializes in Banh Mi Baguette sandwiches. They also offer most of your Vietnamese favorites like rice plates and noodle bowls.

Today I went with the lotus root salad and chicken pot stickers.

I don’t eat shellfish so my dogs get all the shrimp.

lotus root salad

This salad is light and very refreshing.

My dogs both think the chicken potstickers smell very appetizing.

BTW- These potstickers are especially good. They are WAY BETTER than others I’ve tried in the area. More flavors, more filling and they aren’t deep fried like what I get at most places. I give the dogs ends of the potstickers. They enjoy that too!

But they leave me in a hurry for some grilled pork.

grilled pork rice plate

The rice plates are very large and are two meals for some people. The meats are always fresh and prepared carefully. The beef is unusually good for this kind of place and is always very tender. I know it’s really ribeye but is as tender as filet mignon.

dogs come back for shrimp and some little ends of the potstickers.

Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery is always a great choice!

We also made it to The Craftsman Cocktails & Kitchen in North Scottsdale. They have a really nice patio with garage doors that opens up into the restaurant. I think it might be my bigger dog’s favorite restaurant because she feels like we brought her into a restaurant. She always gets extra excited when we come here.

They offer a slightly upscale menu that seems mostly new American. The menu changed a little since our last visit but then again the menu always changes a little now and then. The servers are very nice and brought each dog their own bowl of water.

Today I ordered the shipwright ahi salad.

It is different today…….I think someone confused smoked paprika with togarashi seasoning.. The fish and salad are different too……..Someone new might be in the kitchen today?…..I’ll come back but I don’t think I’ll ever order this salad again. This salad isn’t very dog friendly but I do cut out some fish centers without seasoning for the dogs.

The dogs are much more interested in my husband’s distiller’s burger.

Look at that smile!

The burger is very good. 1/2 pound angus beef with tomato bacon jam, fontina cheese, dijon aioli, and a brioche bun.

Both dogs are very happy getting some cheeseburger.

Dining Out With DOGS in Metro Phoenix AZ – May 2022 Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery, Pad Thai Cafe, Squid Ink Sushi, Twisted Italian

Dining out with dogs is just a “FLUFF” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie. He was elderly and diagnosed with aggressive cancer. We were told probably three months or maybe up to six months was for what to expect for him. Louie was elderly and couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed eating and going out to eat so I took him out to eat as often as possible. Instead of the 3-6 month diagnoses Louie made it another seventeen months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat as often as possible.

There are some things that you need to know about dining out with dogs. One thing is that many restaurants have patios but not all patios are dog friendly. You should see a sign or license posted that they have a dog friendly patio. If you don’t see that then you should call to ask if it is ok to dine there with your furry friend. Another thing to be aware of is that it is always best to dine at off times with dogs. You need to avoid as many people and other dogs as possible. That might sound weird but many people don’t share your love for dogs. Other people might be allergic to dogs. It is best to avoid other dogs because dogs tend to bark at each other and this can be considered a disturbance and you might be asked to leave. JUST FORKING dine at off times and avoid the potential problems.

Here in Phoenix heat can be a problem and often it is to hot to dine out with dogs. Your dog is not as heat tolerant as you….They wear fur coats and can’t sweat. For the most part 90 degrees and up is too hot to dine out with dogs. It’s always better to leave them home when there is any doubt.

Did you know that much of the food and DRINK that you consume can be dangerous or even toxic to your dog? It’s always best to get a list of safe and non-safe food list from your veterinarian. Usually a lean piece of lean meat without sauce is usually a safe bet.

Maybe you are ready to dine out with dogs? Some things that you still need to know are-

Dogs are not to sit on restaurant furniture or eat off of restaurant plates. They should also be close by your side at all times.

To me it is so tender it reminds me of filet mignon but I know it is ribeye. I only get it a few times a year because to me the chicken is usually just as good and seems lighter.

Today I felt like the lotus root salad and the chicken pot stickers. The salad is nice, tasty, refreshing and not double sized like most of the food here. The pot stickers are just tasty.

My dogs get all the shrimp and the little ends of the potstickers. They really enjoy that. My husband got the grilled pork rice plate today.

This dog was very enthusiastic and in my face about eating Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery food.

The rice plate come with a refreshing pickled vegetable salad, a big scoop of steamed rice, a pork egg roll, and a generous portion of grilled pork. The dogs got some of that too!

We always enjoy going to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese eatery in North Phoenix.

We did take out from a newly opened Pad Thai Cafe in North Glendale. We dined at a near by park.

Someone is sucking up to me to try some Thai Beef from my Thai Beef Salad.

Thai Beef salad

The beef is very tender and melts like butter in the mouth. There are lots of seasonings and heat that might not be so good for the dogs so I suck off everything I can before I feed it to them.

I know it sounds gross but they appreciate it!

My husband also gave them some beef from the drunken noodles.

drunken noodles with beef

He ordered it Thai Hot but it seems less hot than my hot Thai Beef salad???? It still good though….The dogs really enjoyed the tender beef today. I was going to order the chicken larb salad but I thought that would be too difficult to share with the dogs because larb is ground chicken. Anyway we all enjoyed ourselves.

Today we went to Squid Ink Sushi in North Peoria. I got a salmon bowl today and my husband got the wagyu cheeseburger. Both dishes were very good today. They prepared the juicy burger to medium-rare and the salmon was fresh tasting and moist.

The Temperature was still under 90 degrees so we went to Twisted Italian in North Peoria. The Patio there is always shaded during the day so It can’t get too hot.

He is squishing into my belly waiting for food.

She is waiting for food too!

Soon they bring us complimentary bread and oil with vinegar.

I give then only a few tiny bites of bread…While we wait to order.

In reasonable time I get the salmon off of the lunch menu. It’s a really good deal. It’s healthy and a large portion. I skip the pasta but my husband usually likes to eat some. It’s nice that it comes with lots of nice vegetables. Today I got zucchini, green beans, asparagus, and a piece of broccoli rabe.

I give my dogs all the zucchini and part of the salmon.

They enjoy that!

My husband got the Italian Relleno off of the all day menu.

It’s a poblano pepper stuffed with house made sausage, mozzarella and provolone cheeses, marinara, onions, bell peppers, and Italian herbs. It’s topped with tomatoes onions, basil, and tomato cream sauce. It also comes with three breaded ravioli.

The dogs get some sausage and some ravioli.

Everyone was happy with what we got at Twisted Italian.

Dining Out With DOGS in Metro Phoenix AZ – April 2022 – Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery, Corleone’s, Phil-Deli, Casa De Falafel

Dining out with dogs in metro Phoenix is just a “FLUFF” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie. I’d take him out to eat now and then but took him out often as I could when he got diagnosed with aggressive cancer. We were told to only expect him to live maybe three months or possibly up to 6 months. Louie was already elderly too and couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed eating foods that he liked. We took him out as often as we could and instead of the 3-6 months Louie made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat when I can.

There are several things that you need to know about dining out with dogs.

One thing is that not all restaurant patios are dog friendly. You need to see a dog friendly sign or license displayed. If you don’t notice those things then you have to call the restaurant and ask if it is ok to bring your furry friend.

You might not know that it is ALWAYS BEST to dine at off times to avoid as many (potential problems) people and other dogs. Other people can be problems because some people hate dogs and other people are just allergic to dogs…It’s best to avoid other dogs because dogs love to bark at each other and this can be a disturbance and you might be asked to leave.

Here in Phoenix Arizona it is often too hot to dine out with dogs. Generally most (but not all) younger and healthy dogs can tolerate up to 90 degrees F with shade. Dogs ARE NOT AS HEAT TOLERANT AS PEOPLE. They wear fur coats, absorb heat up their feet, and can’t sweat. When there is any doubt it is always better to leave your dog safe at home.

Did you know that most food and drink that you consume can be harmful or even toxic to your dog. Educate yourself on this matter and get lists of safe and unsafe foods for dogs from your veterinarian. Usually a small lean piece of sauce free meat is usually a safe bet.

Once you make it to the restaurant there are also some rules to go by. Your dog must be by your side at all times. Dogs are not to sit on restaurant furniture or to eat from restaurant dishes. It’s a good idea to bring your own collapsible water bowl.

We regularly go to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix. They are a Vietnamese Restaurant that specializes in serving the Banh Mi Baguette sandwich and offer close to a dozen different varieties. They also serve most of your Vietnamese favorites like rice plates and noodle bowls. The food is always good, always is a large portion and prices are low….But they Don’t serve pho.

Today my husband got a shaken beef banh mi.

The beef is unusually good here. This sandwich is made up of marinated ribeye (that is tender like filet), pickled carrots and radish, jalapeño, cucumbers, cilantro, and a locally made baguette. (banh mi also includes homemade mayo but on my husband’s sandwich as per his request)

She is very happy thinking about all the beef and chicken that she is going to eat.

I got the chicken noodle salad bowl with a veggie egg roll.

This is a very large delicious noodle salad packed with lots of rice noodles, cucumber, cabbage, lettuce, bean sprouts, cilantro, mint, scallions, pickled carrot & radish, peanuts, lots of tasty chicken and a tasty veggie egg roll. Both dogs insist on helping me eat it.

We always enjoy going to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery.

Today we thought we’d try the Corleone’s Food Truck in Glendale for some Philly Style Steak Sandwiches.

They do have two picnic tables set up to use but we took the sandwiches to go and used a nearby park to eat at.

I tried the chicken steak hoagie. The chicken meat today is extra dry like chalk. I’ve had much better sandwiches from the brick and mortar Corleone’s restaurants. The bread from the food truck is also much thicker…..and they don’t offer cherry peppers for that authentic Philly taste. The dogs don’t mind the dry chicken. They are very sweet and are not as picky as I am.

I hear that the pizza cheese steak sandwich was much better than the chicken steak hoagie.

The dogs were also happy to eat that one too! (we are very careful not to let them have any onions…because onions are very bad for dogs)

Decided to try Phila-Deli in Glendale for their steak sandwiches.

My husband got a large cheesesteak with extra American cheese and pickled peppers.

The people at Phila-Deli are very nice and brought out a large dog dish of ice water for the dogs. Here’s the cheese steak.

Someone is quite happy about that.

I got the small size chicken hoagie type steak sandwich.

The filling is much better this week than from the sandwich last week but I’m not a fan of this Arizona style squishy bread. I’ll get something different next time.

Both dogs enjoy the steak meat and we are extra careful to avoid onions and pickled peppers for them.

It’s heating up in Phoenix. Got in this week to Casa De Falafel in Glendale. They offer a very limited menu of falafels, chicken and beef shawarma and wraps. They do not have a patio so we did take out and went to a close by park around Union Hills and 59TH.

Someone is drooling

We got two shawarma platters. One chicken and one beef. They came with plenty of sauces, chick peas, sumac onions, pickles, olives, lentil soup, and were packed with LOTS of meat to share.

This one kept slapping me in the gut for more shawarma.

He enjoyed the shawarmas just as much.

You need to get a list of foods to avoid and safe foods for your dog from your veterinarian. Usually a small un-sauced lean piece of meat is usually a safe bet. Also here in Phoenix it often gets too hot to dine out with dogs. Your dog is not as heat tolerant as you. They have fur coats, they can’t sweat, and they absorb heat up their paws. Everyone and every dog is different but for the most part 90 degrees F and up is too hot to dine out with dogs. When ever there is any doubt keep your dog safe and leave them at home.

We thought about a new treat for the dogs today and went to NakedQ BBQ in North Phoenix. It’s a casual BBQ restaurant. I like the BBQ turkey here because it is consistently delicious and moist. My other favorite is when they offer the BBQ corned beef…GOSH it’s usually FORKING amazing.

They have two high top tables for dining outside and we thought it would be difficult so we took our food togo and stopped at a cute little park on Union Hills & 59TH. The dogs were delighted by the smell of BBQ.

Me and the dogs enjoyed NakedQ BBQ’s AMAZING BBQ turkey on a garden salad.

The BBQ turkey is always amazing at this NakedQ BBQ. It was so good my bigger dog kept whacking me in my gut with her paw to get more turkey.

The dogs also enjoyed some BBQ Brisket, BBQ Pork, and Hot Links from my husband’s plate.

We made a trip to The Craftsman Cocktails & Kitchen in North Scottsdale. This restaurant is a craft kitchen and distillery. Today my husband got the Brunch Burger.

Look at the BIG SMILE on my dog’s face. This burger was ground in house of short rib and brisket. The. burger is also made of a fried egg, American cheese, and house made maple ketchup on a brioche bun and house chips. My dogs were WAY MORE excited about my husband’s lunch than mine today…….(They also got to eat mostly his burger today)

I had the shipwright ahi tuna salad today.

I have had this before and today’s does taste different. It was still good so I didn’t complain but it taste like it was missing some of the ingredients…or maybe it just had too much wasabi taste today that burnt out all the other flavors?????? Still good though…..The dogs got a small amount of ahi tuna.

My dogs hung out with my husband today……

We enjoyed ourselves at The Craftsman.

We also took the dogs to Twisted Italian in North Peoria. They serve mostly typical Italian foods and some twisted things like home made pierogi and Italian chili rellenos. The Twisted Italian is always a good choice for dining out with dogs because they only have two outside tables so we avoid potential problems.

I had the salmon lunch platter.

It comes with a lot of vegetables (green beans, asparagus, zucchini, and broccoli) and a good amount of pasta in a lemon white wine caper sauce. My dogs liked helping me eat almost everything on this platter. I was surprised that they liked the zucchini about the same as the fish. I liked the green beans but I think the green beans were the dogs least favorite.

My husband got the Italian beef and sausage sandwich with fries.

They gave him an enormous amount of meat there. They gave him beef jus, giardinier. The dogs got to enjoy some of the beef and a tiny bit of sausage.

We did alright at Twisted Italian in Peoria.

We regularly go to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix. They specialize in serving around a dozen different banh mi baguette sandwiches. Other popular dishes that they offer are noodle bowls and rice plates but they don’t serve pho.

We both got the noodle bowls today. I got the chicken and my husband got the grilled pork. Here’s a better look at the chicken noodle bowl.

It’s a very large bowl of food. There is salad with pickled vegetables and fresh mint and rice noodles, a crispy egg roll and lots of marinated chicken. For some people this can be two meals. I have my dogs to share with and they sure don’t mind helping to eat the chicken.

They get to eat grilled pork too.

We always do great when we go to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery.

Dining Out With DOGS in Metro Phoenix AZ February 2022 – Wraps ‘N’ Curry, The Craftsman Cocktails & Kitchen, Cucina Tagliani, Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery

Dining out with Dogs in Metro Phoenix AZ is just a “Fluff” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie. He was elderly and diagnosed with aggressive cancer. We were told to only expect him to live 3 months more or maybe up to six. Louie couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed. eating and also enjoyed going out to eat so I took him out to eat as often as I could. Instead of the 3-6 month diagnosis Louie made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat when I can.

There are many things to know about dining out with dogs. One thing is that not all patios are dog friendly. You usually see a “Dog Friendly Patio” sign. If you don’t see a sign you must call the restaurant to find out if it is ok to bring your furry friend. It is also best to dine at off times and avoid as many people and other dogs as possible. It’s best to avoid people because some people out there really hate dogs and other people might be allergic to dogs. It’s best to avoid other dogs because dogs like to bark at each other and this can be a disturbance and you might be asked to leave.

When dining out with dogs here in Phoenix you have to consider the temperature because your dog is not as heat tolerant as you. Dogs wear fur coats, they can’t sweat and dogs also absorb heat up their paws. All people and dogs have different heat tolerances. In general 90 degrees F and higher is. too hot to dine out with dogs. When there is any doubt it is always better to keep your furry friend heathy and leave them safe at home.

Do you know that most food and drink that you consume can be harmful or even TOXIC to your dog? You need to get a list of safe foods and foods to avoid from your veterinarian. Usually a small lean piece of un-sauced meat is a safe bet. You should also bring a doggie water bowl with you so your dog can have some water.

Now that you have made to the restaurant patio with your dog you need to know that there are rules to dining out with dogs. Dogs must be close and by your side at all times. Dogs are NOT permitted to sit on restaurant furniture or eat off of restaurant plates.

Wraps ‘N’ Curry is an Indian fast food but made from fresh casual located in North Phoenix. They offer wraps on fresh made to order wraps, fresh baked other breads, and Indian dishes. They recently got a community patio at the strip mall near the restaurant so we took the dogs there.

Today I got the goa fish curry.

I think it’s tasty. I lick the sauce off of the fish for the dogs because some of the spices might not agree with them.

My husband had a spicy chicken wrap………sort of……He asked them not to put the sauce on…….but they did anyway.

It was dressed with mint mayo (and my husband won’t eat mayo) so he only picked at it and left the fresh made bread because of the mayo. (he ate something when we got home)

Another restaurant that we went to was The Craftsman Cocktails and Kitchen in North Scottsdale. They are a craft American kitchen. They have a very nice dog friendly patio and the food is very good there. They also are a distillery too! One of their dishes that my husband LOVES there is the muffuletta and had it several times already. It’s served on house made herbed focaccia and he got it with their tasty house made potato chips.

I had the fish and chips….but without the chips and substituted a salad.

The Craftsman vodka crust on the fish is shattering crisp and fresh cod is the flakiest cod that I have ever had. The dogs enjoyed the cod ass well as some parts of the muffuletta.

We also went to Cucina Tagliani in North Glendale. They are an. American Italian Restaurant. They offer sandwiches, salads, build your own pasta dishes and offer more vegetable sides than most places that are similar. They also offer pizzas, pork ribs, a few steaks, some other entrees, and more.

I got a strawberry chicken salad.

The chicken was a little dry today but my dogs didn’t mind.

“Wining!!!!” “We get MORE chicken when it’s dry!” “WHOOHOO!”

My husband got the Stromboli today.

“Stromboli is always a good choice.”

“We are ready for some more chicken!”

We also took the dogs to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix. They specialize in serving the Banh Mi Baguette sandwiches and offer around a dozen different varieties. They also offer other Vietnamese favorites except for pho.

Today I got the curry chicken with rice.

My husband got the beef banh mi (the beef really is very good here…….It’s tender like filet mignon but it is really ribeye)

Portions are very large (and prices are low) so we have plenty to share.

We always enjoy going to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery.

I called up Squid Ink Sushi inn North Peoria (#UpperWestSide) and they said that they were dog friendly so we went there. Of course they offer sushi but they also offer seasonal menus that always have something interesting to try. Some of my favorites from past menus were the Scottish salmon bowl and the wagyu steak salad. Today I saw Thai chicken fried rice.

My husband had the 8oz wagyu burger with havarti cheese, shoyu onions, truffle mayo (on the side for him), arugula, on a Noble challah bun with fries.

We did alright at Squid Ink Sushi.

We also dined at Bottega Pizzeria Ristorante in Glendale, (Arrowhead, #UpperWestSideAZ). They are an Italian Restaurant that also serves Neapolitan Pizzas.

“I wonder what will I eat today?”

I went with the branzino special.

“I’m here ready to eat”

I received two grilled branzino filets (plenty to share) and a big serving of vegetable studded risotto.

“May I have some please?”

My husband went with the chicken pizziola.

The dogs got some of that too!

Wee fed them outside on the Culver’s patio real fast.

Dining Out With DOGS In Metro Phoenix AZ – December 2021 – Greek Palace, Twisted Italian, Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery, The Rec Pizza & Dogs

Dining out with DOGS in Metro Phoenix is just a “FLUFF” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie who was elderly and diagnosed with aggressive cancer. Louie couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed eating and dining out. I took him out to eat as much as possible and instead of his 3-6 month diagnosis he made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat as long as the weather agrees.

There are many things to know about dining out with dogs.

Not all restaurant patios are dog friendly.

It’s also best to dine at off times to avoid as many other people and dogs. (many people don’t like dogs and some people are allergic) (dogs often bark at each other and this might be a disturbance)

I called Greek Palace in North Peoria and they confirmed to me that they are dog friendly so we took the dogs there! They serve most of your traditional Greek dishes and a very good Greek Flaming Cheese called saganaki. Greek patio has not one but TWO dog friendly patios.

We placed our order and they started us out with salads.

The salads were tasty and fresh but not much here to give the dogs.

I tried the veggie chicken shawarma.

I got more than I can eat! That makes a couple of pups very happy.

You can see my dog on the right is drooling.

My husband got what they call the fire fighter platter. It’s sliced beef and lamb cooked on a vertical skewer. It came with grilled onions , rice, and vegetables.

The dogs also tried some of that too.

www.GreekPalace.net

We dined at Twisted Italian in North Peoria. They are an American Style Italian Restaurant that offers some Twisted options like house made pierogi and Italian chili rellenos. The official dog friendly patio is extra great for dining out with dogs because they only have two tables so we avoid lots of potential problems here.

They started us off with crusty hot bread, and olive oil with balsamic.

Today I got the citrus salad with added salmon. The salmon is cooked medium and is nicely spiced. I also have blue cheese candied. walnuts, mandarin oranges, and cranberries.

My husband got the antipasto salad.

We did alright at the Twisted Italian in Peoria.

We regularly dine at Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix. They specialize in serving around a dozen different Banh Mi Baguette sandwiches. They also offer most Vietnamese dishes except for PHO. Prices are low, portions are large and the food is consistently good!

Today I had the curry chicken with rice.

The Curry chicken is lots off chunks of tasty marinated white chicken with potatoes, carrots, onions, crispy shallots in a tasty curry sauce (rice is on the side)

My husband got the pork rice plate today.

It comes with a pork egg roll, rice, pickled vegetables and a generous serving of marinated flavorful pork.

“We are always happy to dine at Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery!”

We went to The Rec Pizza & Dogs. They offer Detroit Style Pizza, some fried things, bread sticks, Hot Dogs, and a few other things.

I tried the seasonal pumpkin and ricotta pizza (individual size).

The dogs got to eat some pumpkin and cheese.

They also enjoyed some pepperoni and sausage from my husband’s pizza.

We also shared a n individual plain pizza and brought the leftovers home.

We did alright at The Rec Pizza & Dogs in Peoria.

Dining Out With DOGS in Metro Phoenix AZ – November 2021 – Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery, Cucina Tagliani, Skewers Mediterranean Grill, Oscar’s Pier 83

Dining out with dogs. is just a “Fluff” story about taking my dogs out to eat. It all sort of started with my dog Louie….he was elderly and was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. He couldn’t do a lot but he always enjoyed eating so I took him out to eat as often as I could. Instead of the 3-6 month diagnosis Louie made it another 17 months. Today I take my current dogs out to eat.

There is a lot to know about dining out with dogs. First of all not all restaurant patios are dog friendly. Even if a patio is dog friendly it is always best to call because you never know if the patio is. reserved for a party. It’s also always better to dine at off times. It’s always best to avoid as many people and other dogs as possible. Some people don’t share your love for dogs and other people are allergic. It’s best to avoid other dogs because dogs like to bark at each other and that can be a disturbance and you might be asked to leave. Dine at off times to avoid potential trouble.

Here in Phoenix it is often to hot to dine out with dogs. Your dog is not as heat tolerant as you. Dogs wear fur coats, they can’t sweat, and they absorb heat up their paws. Just like people all dogs have individual heat tolerances. Hopefully you know your dog well enough to determine if you should dine out together. In general 90 degrees and higher is too hot for dogs to dine out. But maybe up to 90 degrees for younger healthier dogs in shade. Shade makes a difference here. When there is any doubt be smart and leave your furry friend at home.

Most food and drink that you consume can be harmful or toxic to your dog. It’s best to get the facts from your veterinarian on what is safe and what to avoid. Usually a small lean un-sauced piece of meat is a best bet.You should bring a water dish so your dog can lap up some water.

When you dine out with your dog(s) you should keep them close to you. You should never let them sit on restaurant furniture. You should also never let them eat off of restaurant plates.

We went out to Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix. They are a Vietnamese restaurant that offers around a dozen different Banh Mi Baguette sandwiches and most of your Vietnamese favorites except for pho.

Today I had a chicken cabbage salad and chicken pot stickers. (this big and delicious salad with fresh herbs is only $7. and the tasty hand made potstickers are only $5.)

Someone is eyeing up the food.

My husband had a shaken beef Banh Mi today.

Someone is hoping extra beef shakes out.

We all enjoyed our meals at Banh Mi Bistro Vietnamese Eatery in North Phoenix.

www.BanhMiBistroAZ.com

Next we went to Cucina Tagliani in the Arrowhead part of Glendale. Cucina Tagliani is a neighborhood type restaurant that offers American Italian style favorites, build your own pastas, soups, sandwiches, salads, a few entrees and more!

Cucina Tagliani happens to also have a nice large officially licensed dog friendly patio and it’s usually very quiet on Sundays so we like to take advantage of that and we get treated like kings and queens.

My dogs were served their own water pans right away.

We ordered and my husband started with some minestrone soup.

Each dog got a piece of bacon from the soup.

Soon the meals came out.

I had the strawberry chicken salad and dogs got lots of the chicken.

My husband had the chicken parmesan.

All the chicken was moist today so we did ok at Cucina Tagliani.

www.CucinaTagliani.com

This next trip out with the dogs went into plan “B.”

Our destination was Phila-Deli in Glendale. When we got there we saw a note they posted on the door and it read that they are temporarily closing on Sundays. Plan “B” was to go down the street to Skewers Mediterranean Grill ( fast/casual fresh Mediterranean foods). The …Skewers doesn’t have a patio but just across the street is a small park with tables for us to dine at.

I got a chicken kabob salad with turnips and chick peas.

It’s a pretty nice and tasty salad with lots of tasty moist delicious chicken to share with the dogs.

The dogs are waiting for their chicken.

My husband got a gyro salad.

The dogs are enjoying the food from Skewers.

Nice tasty large salads from Skewers Mediterranean Grill in North Glendale that don’t cost much more than fast food and is much better.

www.SkewersAZ.com

Since we couldn’t do Phila-Deli last week we thought we’d try again this week. We tried to call in our order 6 times and nobody answered the phone. We were afraid that they went out of business. When we got there we were relieved that they were open. We found out that they no longer make salads….(my first choice)…..Then I found out that they discontinued wraps too…..(my second choice). I like the people there and my husband likes the sandwiches but I am pickier…..and only liked the wraps and salads here…………We decided that we’d go down the street to Oscar’s Pier 83. Unfortunately the patio was already packed with lots of babies and other dogs. So we did take out and the dogs had to eat on our patio.

I got a salmon salad. It’s nothing fancy but the fish is fresh here.

My husband got a three piece fried fish (cod) dinner.

www.OP83.com

Well that was dining out with dogs in metro Phoenix for November 2021. We hope that you’ve enjoyed and we hope to see you next month.
