UPDATE*****THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED FOR BUSINESS
A Beautiful new restaurant recently opened in Scottsdale AZ called Zen Culinary. I read in the paper that over three million dollars was spent to open this restaurant. The menu is a mix of assorted Asian that leans heavily on Thai and they do offer Modern American Entrees that are made with some Asian Ingredients. Prices do go from the very conservative of less than $10.00 and up to $56.00 at the time of my visit.
Apologies that my photos don’t do justice here. The restaurant is far more detailed than my photos show. A baby grand piano sits on the far end by a very modern flowing waterfall on the window. It’s really all very beautiful.
My visit was during lunch time so we shared two lunches of a Sushi Lunch and the Basil Chicken.
The Sushi Lunch started with an Asian Salad.
The salad was fresh and crisp and dressed in a delicious Asian Flavored Dressing.
All the Sushi was clean tasting. I caught that it wasn’t seasoned under the fish like better sushi places do but maybe I hit them when they just forgot. The tiny spicy tuna rolls were spicy so they do get credit for that like they should but were slightly heavy with mayonnaise but that is my taste and may differ from yours. I do mention that the wasabi I asked for was very much above average. It was like green shredded horseradish.
The Chicken Basil was tastier than some of the others I’ve tried. The heat was a good tasting heat and this dish actually contained basil like it should. It was solid.
At the end the waitress presents us with what she called a fortune cookie.
I couldn’t find a fortune in the cookie but I can tell you that it was a delicious cookie and contained Mango, Seeds and Nuts.
With so many different items on the menu I note that I haven’t tried enough of the menu to rate but what I tried so far the food was Good in a very much above average atmosphere.
