I didn’t noticed much of a change shopping for food until this past weekend. I was at Costco a warehouse shopping type of store. I didn’t really need too many things so I didn’t look for too many things either. It seemed like they offered most of the foods they normally offer but they were out of paper products, eggs and bread. It’s possible that they were out of more things but I didn’t notice. To me it didn’t seem like a crisis but it sure did seem annoying.
First time I’ve seen empty shelve at CostcoLots of empty shelving at Costco
Latter in the week I thought I’d go to Safeway for chicken because Costco sells a brand of chicken that I don’t like. I had no idea that Safeway’s shelves would be like this.
Not much here.
Tomatoes are usually here.
They have a few things. They have Japanese eggplants and it looks like yellow beans and green beans. On the other side is Savoy cabbage.
Here’s most of the rest of the produce.
No potatoes or onions.
The meat counter is out of meat. It’s not like I came in at an off time. I came Tuesday just after lunch.
They are out of all raw chicken and raw turkey today.
They have some meat but it’s vegetarian, some beef and some pork.
Not much here.
Not much here.
Not much here.
Not much here either.
This is a crisis. Nobody can live forever like this.
This is the FORKING CoronaVirus Apocalypses and this is what it’s Forking Like To Buy Food. It seems like Famine in Phoenix Week One. I can only hope that next week is better.
Everything is subject to change and I FORKING HOPE THAT IT DOES!
I saw these Folios cheese wraps at Costco. This sounds like a commercial but I read on the package that they are 100% parmesan cheese so I thought they would be fun to play around with.
I made a cheese wrapped cheese steak with the partially cooked cheese slices.
I think it was pretty easy to prepare. The cheese slices are wrapped in parchment and then you bake them at 375 degrees F for 6 minutes. Let them cool and bend them in the shape you want and then fill them up.
Here’s the back of the package.
My husband wrapped eggs in cheese. (sorry I didn’t photo them)
He really liked the cheese steak!
I had fun cooking with the cheese wrap. Maybe you can too!
I haven’t seen new Lay’s Potato Chip flavors in a while and today I noticed three new flavors. One was taco, another was cheddar jalapeƱo and I also noticed Wavy Fried Green Tomato. The Wavy Fried Green Tomato sounded the most interesting so I picked it up. As soon as I got home with the bag my husband bust it open and started munching them down. He said they weren’t bad. I go and take a sniff.
To me they oddly smell like potato salad.
I eat one.
It has a true tomato taste……It taste like a slice of tomato that is topped with mayonnaise.
I eat a few more..they still seem good to me but I don’t know WTFork I like this? I’d never sit around eating tomatoes with mayonnaise on them. Maybe it’s because they are crunchy and salty and seem pretty true tasting?
Then I try to eat one chip more slowly.
It’s not as good this way because this way I get a mouth of powder and the chip seems greasier this way.
I take a look at the ingredients.
Ingredients don’t seem too unnatural.
These aren’t bad.
For a flavored Lay’s Potato Chip the Wavy Fried Green Tomato Chips are pretty good!
I guess…
Worth a Fork!

I’m not a vegan or vegetarian but I am selective about the ground beef that I eat. I like that there are no ground beef worries with the impossible burger. The impossible burger (at this time) is the only vegan burger that contains an ingredient called heme that comes from soy roots that makes the patty taste meat like. It is also suppose to make the patty bleed but I have never gotten an impossible burger that bleeds so far but when and IF I ever do I’ll be jumping for joy and you will hear about it.
The first Impossible Burger I tried came from The Cuff in Glendale AZ.
It’s wasn’t bad but it was a little dry and crumbly. It left a sort of butter like aftertaste that I didn’t like. My husband took a bite and said, “I’m never trying an Impossible Burger again.”
He didn’t try my next one from PNPK in Scottsdale (now closed for business).
This one was slightly better. Still dry but not crumbly. No weird buttery aftertaste.
My 3rd one came from Orlando Florida at Disney’s Food and Wine Expo at Epcot.
Impossible Burger is on the right
This Impossible Burger was also dry but was covered in delicious wasabi cream and Asian style slaw.
My fourth Impossible Burger came from Burger King.
This is the first Impossible Burger that wasn’t dry but it is odd. It has a soggy mushy center. The exterior is almost like a shell. This one doesn’t have much flavor. The ketchup and pickle are very over powering to this almost tasteless burger.
The FORKING BEST IMPOSSIBLE BURGER I’ve tasted so far (as of January 2020) was The Impossible Burger from Dog Haus in Scottsdale AZ.
They did have their regular Impossible Burger on the menu and an Impossible slider but I went for the special of the month Impossible Burger. I’m not taking about the toppings here (But the did happen to be delicious). I’m really just talking about the burger. It was nicely caramelized but thin burger. It was the only Impossible burger that was actually juicy like a real burger. This one my husband tried and he also said that it was very good. This Impossible burger actually stood up to the very flavorful SPICY HOT toppings. This one was the December/January Special by Chef Ilan Hall. It was all Vegan and was adorned with chili oil, pickled vegetables, fresh jalapeƱo and cilantro, hoisin sauce, spicy vegan mayo on a ciabatta bun. It was FORKING HOT and FORKING SPICY but delicious and even with all that heat and spice the Impossible burger still did taste good.
Dog Haus made the FORKING BEST Impossible Burger that I tried so far. (as of January 2020…subject to change)
I just got this in an email that on February the 2nd is potato tot day and Dog Haus is dining away FREE potato tots when you order a sandwich. Thought you might want to know if you are thinking about trying the Impossible burger from Dog Haus.

******UPDATE ******SUSPENDED out of respect for Kobe Bryant.
The Planter’s Peanut Company just released that Mr Peanut was involved in a tragic accident. The 104 year old Mr Peanut lost control of the Nut mobile to avoid hitting an armadillo.
According to someone from Planter’s, Mr Peanut had Wesley Snipes and Matt Walsh as passengers in the nut mobile. It’s not confirmed but someone was heard screaming that Mr Peanut was driving like an “OLD NUT.”
The tragic accident has been filmed and leaked on the internet. It’s been written that Mr Peanut died in an explosion and the funeral will be shown at during the 3rd quarter of the Super Bowl.
The Planters Peanut Company was founded by Amedeo Obici. He was an Italian born American from Wilkes Burro PA.
The Planters Company some time back merged with Nabisco foods and is currently owned by Kraft Heinz.
Many decades back there was a Mr Peanut Store on the Atlantic City NJ boardwalk.
Photo from Pinterest
Planters Peanuts was once a fixture in Atlantic City.
Things like this were sold in this store along with peanuts that smelled delicious.
A long time ago in a land far away it was said that children were given candy sticks in church to make them shut The Fork Up. It also has been written that a person from Germany got the idea to put a little bit of religion in the candy sticks by making them Shepard hook shape.
Some time has passed and someone got the idea to add hyssop flavoring to the candy because hyssop was used in the Old Testament for purification and sacrifice. Maybe nobody really wanted child sacrifice on their hands and they stopped adding hyssop flavoring. But maybe the real reason they stopped adding hyssop was because mint was cheaper and tasted better…
The White Stripes were added.
Or was it the Red Stripes symbolizing the blood of Christ?
Maybe you noticed that many candy canes are not flavored with mint anymore.
The following candy canes are from Archie McPhee.com
And there are Forking Oreo Candy Canes.

Here are the hottest foods that I remember trying in Metro Phoenix in no particular order from restaurants that are still in business. (the Homer Photo is from www.PeeWee.com)
The Kang Pa Curry from Krua Thai in Phoenix was in the top two spiciest burning Thai Dishes I’ve ever tried. I feared for my life when I got this dish. I didn’t even request the hottest level (Thai Hot). This dish actually burned my lips and was next to impossible to eat. I never order medium when I do Thai and always order hot…not Thai Hot. Regular hot is usually good for me….but not this time.
The other hottest Thai Dish was the Holy Basil Chicken from Suh Noi – The Little Thaiger in Scottsdale.
Again I didn’t ask for Thai Hot but this one also was crazy burning HOT. This one was burning hot in a different way. It was like eating the hottest jalapeƱo ever.
The two hottest Hot Chicken Sandwiches I’ve tried in Metro Phoenix were-
From Monroe’s Nashville Style Hot Chicken I tried the Hottest Chicken they offer called Shut da Cluck waffle sandwich.
It’s like Thai Hot. It’s nuclear but sneaky. First bite doesn’t seem hot but it builds fast….real fast.
The other Hottest Hot Chicken Sandwich came from Famous 48 at the original location around the time when they first opened.
This sandwich was so hot I almost couldn’t eat it and they gave extra hot sauce on the side. *****UPDATE Famous 48 changed the recipe for this sandwich since I had it the first time. It’s a completely different recipe that is much more delicious…but almost mild compared to their original recipe.
You can get some super ultra delicious food from The Barrio Gran Reserva that is especially hot if the chef knows you can take spicy food. The chef showed us her big jar of Chiltepen Peppers (they are tiny and look like pink peppercorns). Chiltepin peppers are very hot but add lots of delicious flavor to foods.
This little complimentary seed starter is really REALLY FORKING HOT!
The Aguachile from the Barrio Grand Reserva is so FORKING Delicious but is also Forking Spicy HOT.
This is a slightly different Aguachile with mango that is also deliciously extra spicy. (also from the Barrio Grand Reserva)
The Diablo Hot Chipolte Molcajete from Mariscos Playa Hermosa is also mighty HOT!
It’s a molten cauldron of hot sauce lined with different proteins.
There’s HOT Chinese Food out there!
www.GettyImages.co.UK.com
The Two hottest Chinese Dishes that I had most recently was the Fish Hot Pot from Szechuan Cuisine in Glendale.
Fish Hot Pot….(this I had before but not in a long time)
Look at all the crushed peppers on top of it. This was so spicy I went off into la la land. Next to was another hot dish called spicy chicken noodle. It was spicy too but not as spicy as the Fish Hot Pot.
The other hottest Chinese Dish was the House Special BBQ Fish from Original Cuisine in Mesa.
This was burning molten hot but also delicious. I usually hate catfish but in the right hands even catfish can be delicious!
I hope I left you Hot and Bothered for some exciting hot food!
Every FORKING THING is subject to CHANGE. Your experience may or may NOT differ.
Be a good guest and not a Forking turkey on Thanksgiving. It seems that some people have been raised by wolves and don’t know how to behave correctly on Thanksgiving. Here are few things that some people need to know.
PLEASE be a normal responsible person. If you come down with a cold PLEASE don’t bring it to Thanksgiving with you. Your germs aren’t special and incase you don’t know YOUR FARTS SMELL TOO! If you go to Thanksgiving with a cold you will inflict your illness on others. Only a Forking turkey would do something this inconsiderate.
Don’t let your children race into someone’s home like zombies not even making eye contact with the host. Just a smile and a nod goes a long way and is enough….and would be appreciated.
Don’t be a Forking Turkey and set the alarm on the host’s washer and dryer. Only a Forking NUT job Turkey would do such a thing. You know your host will know it was done by you…….so please don’t be a dumb cluck.
You might not care for every dish your host serves but DON’T BE A TURKEY and when you see something you don’t care for just don’t eat it. Only a FORKING TURKEY would scream at the table, ” I HATE PROFITEROLES!” For GOD’S sake if you don’t scream in the super market that you hate profiteroles when you see them then why the heck would you scream it in someones home? Only a Forking TURKEY does such a thing.
Only a FOKING TURKEY would re-gift a used food product that already was used that they didn’t care for. If something you tried was crap to you why in the world would you dump your already used smelly fish on someone else……What the heck were you thinking? Only a ding bat or someone who has lost their marbles FORKING TURKEY would do this.
If you or your children break something in your host’s house the right thing to do is to mention it to your host. Not saying anything really Forking make you look like a BIG FORKING RUDE and inconsiderate TURKEY. (that’s just so rude and inconsiderate)
Only a Forking TURKEY would give the host a back stabbing compliment. “That might have been the best Thanksgiving food I ever had” “But I don’t know that much about food and I would rate it two stars!” Only FORKING MORON TURKEYS say something like that.
Don’t act like you are helping to clean up the serving ware by tossing them in the trash. Only a Forking NUT JOB Turkey would do that.
We sincerely hope that the only turkey at your thanksgiving table is the one you eat.
Here are a bunch of recipes from The Forking Truth that you might want to try for Thanksgiving. Up above is for a Southwest Style Thanksgiving. It’s Guacamole Style Beets. (this recipe will go up Wednesday) Here are around 50 Forking recipes to inspire you.

At the moment my favorite Thai Dish that I’ve come across in North Phoenix is the Spicy Pumpkin Basil from Sala Thai in Peoria. The Pumpkin adds another delicious flavor. It’s sort of sweet, a little creamy and sort of chestnut-like. This dish is basically a Pad Gra Pow with added Thai Pumpkin. It’s your choice of meat hand chopped with extra surface space to soak up flavors. Then it’s stir fried with bell pepper, onion, garlic, Thai Chillies, basil and fish sauce. It’s incredibly delicious. I enjoy that they use a handful of delicious basil that you can taste in this dish. This dish also taste better than from other places because they use Thai Chillies for heat unlike some of the other places that use jalapeƱos and or a granulated powder. Some of the other Thai restaurants in North Phoenix do offer Pumpkin Curry but Sala Thai is one of the few or possibly only Thai Restaurant in North Phoenix that offers Spicy Pumpkin Basil.
Why settle for Pad Gra Pow when you can have Spicy Pumpkin Basil?
Worth a Fork!
