A Couple Lunches at 6 Degrees Urban Kitchen in Scottsdale AZ – Worth a Fork***UPDATE NOW CLOSED FOR BUSINESS

*****UPDATE NOW CLOSED ********I had an enjoyable dinner at 6 Degrees Urban Kitchen in Scottsdale AZ a while back when they first opened in the Scottsdale Gainey Ranch Center. I remembered they offer Lunch and Brunch Menus with lots of variety so I wanted to try them out during the day. This is a casual New American Restaurant with a bar and nice big patio.

For my first Lunch at 6 Degrees Urban Kitchen  had Nashville Hot Chicken.

Here is the 6 Degrees interpretation of a Nashville Style Hot Chicken Sandwich. The white meat plump juicy marinated breast is coated with a notable mighty crisp crust and was brushed with honey hot sauce. It rest upon house made pickles lettuce and tomato and was served on a soft grilled eggy roll. All together it was delicious and spicy. Although this is not authentic Nashville Hot Chicken it’s still delicious! For real Nashville Style The Crisp breaded Chicken gets basted with a hot spicy oil or fat glaze. I really liked that I had several choices of sides with my sandwich and I picked the thoughtful choice of fresh fruit to lighten a substantial sandwich.

My husband tried the Meatloaf Grilled Cheese on Sour Dough Bread.

He said the meatloaf was tasty and the bread was nicely grilled. He thought the fries could have used a tiny bit more time in the fryer. He said he’d order it again.

For my second lunch I went with the Strawberry Chicken Salad.

I’ve eaten a bunch of Strawberry Goat Cheese Salads at a bunch of places but what stood out about this salad was the bright pickled onions and the very tasty Strawberry Balsamic Dressing. I could tell the white meat chicken was precooked but it was slightly warmed up for me and was still MOIST. Overall this was a very good salad but if I pick on something the only thing I’d point out was that this salad only contain a trace amount of spiced pecans and I didn’t find a piece of a pecan until I was halfway done and that piece was only the size of a corn kernel. The other pieces I found were the size of a single cube of pretzel salt. I imagine they might have been almost out of pecans and I got the dust that remained.

My husband got the Crispy Pork Belly Tacos and as his side the Soup of the Day that was Chicken Tinga. It just so happens that 6 Degrees Urban Kitchen’s Crispy Pork Belly Tacos were First Prize Winning from the last Taco Festival so we imagined that they must be good!

The Crispy Pork Belly Tacos were GOOD as we excepted them to be. They were topped with pickled daikon carrot slaw, pickled jalapeños, fresh cilantro, cotija cheese and SOY GLAZE…..very different but interesting!

We both really enjoyed the Chicken Tinga Soup. It was very developed with lots of flavors. It tasted like you were eating the best chicken taco you ever had. We thought the soup was a very generous side with the tacos. I wonder if this was the correct size…..anyway…. It was really delicious!…
