Memorable is something that sticks in your mind. Memorable can be great pleasure or interesting. Memorable can be something that didn’t turn out right too.

We ordered the Saganaki from Mike’s Kitchen in Surprise Arizona. It was Kefalograviera Cheese that was battered, buttered and flamed Ouzo and lemon.

That was a BIG forking OOOOOPAAH! I knew it was coming and forking let out a scream instead of an OPA!

Mango and Ube Tart from Casa Filipina Phoenix AZ

Mango and Ube Tart from Casa Filipina Phoenix AZI tried Filipino Food From Casa Filipina in Phoenix AZ.   The main plates were good but the service was very unusual. Our waiter was unable to tell me what what in the Chicken Inasal I ordered. He said I made a good choice ran the order to the kitchen and then started doing karaoke crooning old songs that Sinatra would have sang. I thought that was strange but it wasn’t as strange as the desserts we were served because they were inedible. We ordered a mango tart and a Ube (purple yam) Tart. I don’t know why but they were hard like rocks.

The tart fillings were both so hard they could have been used to fill forking pot holes.

I couldn’t break a piece off and my husband busted them in half with his hands. The tart fillings were hard and hard to forget.

Had another very forking memorable dessert from a beautiful brand new restaurant.

I saw Chocolate Fondant on the menu so I had to order it because it’s a special French Dessert. It’s a French Molten Lava Cake. The restaurant didn’t serve me a molten cake. Instead I got a lump of chocolatey sugar paste. A lump of fondant frosting. It’s funny to me now.

All the Food From Carvalho’s Brazilian Kitchen in Scottsdale AZ was delicious but it was the Potato Salad that was the most memorable and inspired me to re-create. The texture was like mashed potatoes mixed with chunks of potatoes. It was bright tasting and had an interesting play of flavors between the really sweet soft carrots and briny olives.

Fried Chicken from the Salty Sow in Phoenix AZ. It was juicy, developed with flavor, Crunchy, Sticky and Sweet and Savory. It was forking awesome!

IMG_2795

The  Leek Risotto with Parmesan Foam from Binkley’s of Cave Creek is pretty darn amazing and impossible to forget. It was just perfection.

Anything with Truffles from Binkley’s you will not forget ever! Who ever knew a prune could be so incredible.

The Huitlacohe Machete also known as Corn Smut Machete from Machete Azteca Estilo DF in Phoenix AZ is memorable in many ways.  Not only in size but also packed with an incredible amount of the delicacy called Huitacohe, (the Mexican Truffle) Very few restaurants serve this and the few that do only give you a small amount. Here you hit the jackpot! Here you also hit the Jackpot with any Machete you order. This place feels more like Mexico to me than Mexico. The menu is all in  Mexican without any English and Mexican TV is blaring along with Mexican Music at the same time in the dining room. It truly feels like you traveled to Mexico when you dine here. Don’t worry the water is safe here.

From the Scottsdale Beer Company in Scottsdale AZ I had this really delicious Cilantro Lime Marinated Chicken topped with Jalapeño Jam and Avocado Aioli. This was so delicious it inspired me to create my Cilantro Lime Chicken Meatloaf with Jalapeño Jam with Guacamole.

Another most memorable experience was the dessert from The Vic Bar and Kitchen in Buckeye AZ. I got a dessert with a little something extra in it.

IMG_3509

I pulled out a lump of something in my FIRST bite that resembled silicon glue. I showed it to my waiter and he ran it to the kitchen. I didn’t get anything like a “I’m sorry” or anything. I got an “oh that’s just gelatin.” I don’t know what the embedded object was but it truly seemed like silicon.

The Vic Bar and Kitchen wasn’t totally awful. I also had this really delicious salad.

IMG_3498

It was missing the radish flowers promised on the menu that I was looking forward to but I found out that really good melon with preserved lemons, lavender, goat cheese and (baby) mint goes expertly well together. This is a dish that anyone can prepare with a bunch of wow factor. This dish was also memorable because I was still forking hungry after I ate it. I wish this dish was on the appetizer or dessert menu instead of the salad menu because I feel it’s more of an appetizer or dessert than a salad.

These were the most Memorable Dishes I had out in Metro Phoenix AZ 2016 this Year so far!
