I came across these NEW Russell Stover sugar free peanut butter chocolate bars at my local Safeway grocery store. I didn’t even read the package but I thought the chocolate bar looked very appetizing in the picture. LOOK at all that peanut butter in the picture below. It looks so scrumptious!
I normally would never buy this brand of chocolate because I used to not like it but I thought this must be a new recipe because it looks so delicious on the package. Then when I got it home we cracked it open and ate two of the sections of the chocolate bar.
It really isn’t bad for sugar free chocolate. It melts in the mouth and can pass as sweetened with sugar…..but……….
…..Where The FORK is the Peanut Butter?
Joy Bites?
More like remove the “J” and you get OY bites. In addition to NO SUGAR added there is NO PEANUT BUTTER ADDED.
I contacted Russell Stover on Facebook and Instagram on this matter and got nothing from them…..Just like the same amount of no peanut butter that I didn’t get from them.
Where the FORK is the peanut butter in Joy Bites?
Remove the “J” from Joy Bites and you are left with oy bites.
Bourbon Pub is a global American Pub located in the San Francisco Californian Airport between gates B8-B9 in terminal one by chef Micheal Mina.
I ordered the Korean Barbecue Salmon Sandwich with salad (the other choice was fries).
Korean Barbecue Salmon Sandwich from Bourbon Pub SFO
Gosh it’s a big delicious sloppy sandwich……It’s topped with a very good deli tasting pickle. It made of cut in-house salmon (medium) that is smothered in a gochujang based sauce, and packed with kimchi and topped with mild jalapeƱos and ginger aioli. All that is on a nicely grilled eggy tasting fresh bun. It’s big and very sloppy. I’m a mess eating it but it is very delicious and the fish is prepared well, seems fresh and melts in my mouth. Half I ate as a sandwich and the other half I ate with a knife and fork and avoided the bun so I didn’t get overly stuffed. The salad contents….some lettuce, sweet tomatoes and onions were lightly tossed with mild vinaigrette.
My husband went for the torta camarones (minus the sour cream) with salad instead of fries.
This sandwich was made of wild gulf shrimp, guacamole, (sour cream left off at my husband’s request), pickled jalapeƱos, tomato, red onion, gem lettuce, and salsa verde and a long roll. He had his doubts…but in the end he said that it was a delicious sandwich that was very good. Latter he said it was the best thing he ate that day.
My husband was so thrilled with the food coming home he took out a buffalo chicken sandwich to eat for lunch on the plane ride home.
I tasted the sauce and it was delicious. My husband that this sandwich was really good.
I did ok…….I knew I couldn’t eat a big sloppy sandwich on the plane….A salad would ne better so I took out a 5-spice chicken salad from Bun Mee in terminal one that was good. It tasted like a chicken banh mi sandwich……..it was better than the mass produced take out salads that they have all over the airport….BUT I WOULD HAVE WAITED till I got to Bourbon Pub if I knew that they were offering a whole list of specials besides the menu…..Didn’t notice specials on our first visit coming in.

I am kinda obsessed with better quality ice creams. I live in Phoenix were it is ice cream weather most of the time and by bad luck don’t have quality ice cream parlors nearby. I have to travel a crazy forty minutes for a decent ice cream shop. Most of the ice cream sold at local supermarket isn’t so great. It’s just a part of life gong out for ice cream in warm or hot weather once in a while….ANYWAYS….I came across this Leeuwen Sicilian Pistachio French Ice Cream at my local Sprouts Grocery. This flavor of Leeuwen is a small batch flavor and is only made up from six ingredients.
I open it up.
It’s green from all the special Etna Mountain Sicilian Pistachios and it’s thick and rich from cream and egg yolks. It taste just like pistachios……We stopped at about one third down but it would be easy to keep eating more.
Leeuwen Sicilian Pistachio French Ice Cream is FORKING GOOD…and is worth eating.
Anyone that likes pistachios and doesn’t mind a completely smooth ice cream should be pleased with the flavor.
Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream is a high quality rich smooth ice cream sold at my local Sprouts Store and Walmarts everywhere. It’s different and is made with a lot of eggs that make it richer. It’s not completely natural but seems to have far less chemicals in it than many of the other brands out there. This is the third flavor of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream that I have tried. The Limited Edition Pizza flavor was ok but didn’t really taste like pizza……..The chocolate hazelnut mini bars were really great (They are worth getting fat for)…..and now I’m Trying Bourbon Cherries Jubilee.
I open it up. It looks ok.
It a really nice creamy rich consistency.
I taste some……….It’s weird……..It almost taste like yogurt. I can taste bourbon but the cherries are sour…..YUK!
What’s in this?
I think that I don’t like the lemon juice, citric acid, and the magic acid…I mean malic acid.
I put the ice cream away and bravely try a little more a few days later.
It is slightly better further down (The vanilla swirl is very good) but not worth getting fat on so I throw it out. Should have bought one of the other flavors…BAH!
Those were my FORKING Thoughts on Limited Edition Van Leeuwen Bourbon Cherries Jubilee….I note that YOUR Forking Thoughts may indeed differ.
The FANTABULOUS Dish means – Top of the line, Marvelously good, Peachy keen, and DYNAMITE! It also means that it is worth driving across town for. The Tuna Crudo from Tia Carmen is all that and more! It’s from Michelin star chef, restauranteur, Bravo Top Chef, and cookbook author Angelo Sosa.
Tuna Crudo from Tia Carmen
It’s described as corn coconut broth, smoked chile oil, and dill. The tuna is melt in your mouth silky fish with just the right amount of fresh dill,There is a little embellishment of roe that adds a little texture a little taste of the sea but THAT BROTH IS BOMB…….It amazing….It just turns all that very good into MAGICAL.
The only downside…..is that it is hard to spoon it all out. Maybe it should be served with a straw?
The Tuna Crudo from Tia Carmen is officially a FANTABULOUS Dish and is WORTH A FORK!

Sometimes you just feel like ordering salad. You want something interesting and something that doesn’t seem too heavy. These are some of the better salads that I’ve tried in no particular order.
Seasonal Harvest Salad from Lure Seafood House in Scottsdale.
The Seasonal Harvest Salads from Lure Fish House in Scottsdale have been great so far. Here’s one with fresh just flown in medium/rare salmon, greens, radish, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, oranges and little cheese balls. I’ve had other salads here to that were good. The menu is seasonal and changes every so often.

Chula Salmon Salad was as great as a salmon salad can possibly be from Pomo Pizzeria in Scottsdale
Here’s the Chula Salmon Insalate from Pomo Pizzeria in Scottsdale. It’s a bowl of spring mix, golden beets, fennel, grape tomatoes, lemon dressing and on top of the salmon are these pink peppercorns that are BOMB with the lemon dressing. The first time I had this the salmon was perfect and this was amazing. On a return visit not as perfect but still very good.

Salmon salad from Campo Italian Bistro in Scottsdale was particularly good
I’ve tried the Arugula Insalate from Campo Italian Bistro in Scottsdale. In the bowl is arugula, marinated fennel, pistachios, local citrus, pecorino, and citrus vinaigrette. Choices of protein that you can add on are salmon, chicken, or shrimp. This is just a very nice salad with flavors that work well together. (So far the salmon here has been exceptional and prepared to perfection. Do the salmon here if you like salmon)

This salad made with ahi tuna from The Craftsman Cocktails and Kitchen
The first time I had this salad called the Shipwright Ahi Salad from The Craftsman Cocktails & Kitchen in North Scottsdale it was amazing. It was made of Togarashi Ahi Tuna, arugula, local greens, carrots, radish, marinated shiitakes, wasabi peas, yuzu aioli, and ginger-passionfruit-sesame dressing. SOOOOooooo Delicious…….Went back and second time didn’t taste all the flavors…I don’t know if it was because too much wasabi was used or if some flavors were missing? But the first salad was so great that I would give it another try.

I still think about a few better salads that I haven’t had in while but would love to eat right now.
The Avocado salad from Angel’s Trumpet Ale House in Phoenix
The Avocado salad from Angel’s Trumpet Ale House in Downtown Phoenix isn’t a beauty but has flavors like no other (I’ve had it a few times). It’s an unusual combination of smoked beets, grapefruit, goat cheese, avocado, and almonds. Proteins that you can add are grilled or fried chicken, smoked turkey, or smoked brisket.

This was a collection of some of the better salads in Metro Phoenix AZ.
Veneto Trattoria is a Venetian Style Italian Restaurant located in Scottsdale Arizona. For many years now they have offered Passover Dinners in Venetian Style to honor the Jews of ancient Italy. Incase you didn’t know Passover is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the Israelites liberation from slavery from the Egyptians. Foods for Passover are a little different and are unleavened.
They offer seating on the patio.
It’s pretty hot today so we picked indoor seating.
Got sat in the next dining room.
They started us out with matzoth with this delicious honey nut marmalade. (They should bottle and sell that marmalade…It was really great!)
Next came polpette with brodo di matza e pollo alla Veneziana (homemade Venetian style matzah ball soup) (This was better than from a famous place that sells this soup daily that begins with a “C”)
Three different main courses were offered (sole, stuffed chicken, braised brisket)
I went with the sogliola alla mosaica (petrale sole, tomato raisin sauce braised fennel, Brussels sprouts)
My husband went for the brisket called brisket in salsa Pasquale (dried plum sauce, braised fennel, Brussels sprouts)
They were extra generous with dessert. They gave us each a delicious torta tradizionale di mandorce per pesach (almond cake with chocolate sauce)
Delicious but we really only needed one so we took one home for latter.
That was Passover at Veneto Trattoria.

Easter is a Christian celebration commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Italian Daughter offered a very nice reasonably priced menu for Easter. They offered pretty much their whole menu plus some extras.
The Italian Daughter is a full service Italian Restaurant located in North Scottsdale Arizona. This restaurant is brought to you by the daughter Melissa of the award wining late chef and restauranteur Tomaso Maggiore. This restaurant is a tribute to Melissa’s late father.
Father and Daughter photo
They offer bar seating. Traditional table seating, high tops, and patio seating.
They started us off with complimentary crusty bread and soft herb butter.
For our appetizer we shared the butternut squash purses.
They were in a creamy Frangelico cream sauce with amaretti dust. We had the pancetta on the side.
I had the Roman Salmon. It was a very generous portion. I got a nicely prepared moist piece of salmon in a lemon-ee white wine sauce. The plate was adorned with tender crunch asparagus, cauliflower, creamy risotto and was topped with a long stem artichoke. I do note that the risotto was especially good. It’s very rare that you get decent risotto out.
My husband enjoyed the slow braised short rib.
It came in a Demi/tomato sauce with asparagus and gnocchi.
I saved half my food for another meal so I’d have room for dessert.
The limoncello cake is always a perfect sweet ending.

That was Passover at Veneto Trattoria and Easter at The Italian Daughter both in Scottsdale AZ.
I came across this container of Leeuwen PIZZA ice cream at my local Walmart Grocery Store. I kept looking at it thinking maybe I just needed bifocals and was seeing something incorrectly. Nope saw it correct it is pizza ice cream. Well I have to give it a try.
I taste the white ice cream. It’s wonderfully rich and smooth. It’s not vanilla but it is a slightly tangy/sweet rich taste. It is suppose to be mozzarella but it just taste creamy, only a slight maybe cream cheese to it and and rich to me. Then I taste a cookie crumb. It’s really sweet like a brown sugar cookie….Little bummed……..Then I taste what is suppose to be tomato jam……It’s not an obvious tomato taste……It’s kind of tangy. I’m not sure how to identify this taste. My tomato jam that I made had cumin, coriander, mustard, vinegar, and cloves in it. I guess it also was no longer a tomato taste.
A few days latter I try it again. I think the middle of the container has more added stuff to it.
I go back and taste it again. This time I got a slightly bigger crumb of cookie. I can faintly taste basil in it but it iseems different and for some odd reason is much softer now like cookie dough and maybe a little less sweet.
This ice cream seems high quality and is rich and creamy. But I don’t get a pizza flavor. I want it to taste like pizza….Even a cheap sweet frozen pizza taste…….
On the other hand this ice cream isn’t horrible either because it’s so rich and smooth and not horrible…….and I keep trying to taste pizza here. It’s really more of a mystery flavor…..Everything is kind of odd. The base ice cream is slightly tangy and can pass as a cream cheese or yogurt taste. The cookie/cookie dough bits are sweet and are too scant with a basil taste. I think the taste working the hardest not to be pizza is the pizza jam. It’s very tangy and lacks a fresh or sweet tomato taste. I think the tomato is the least successful part of this ice cream trying to pass as a pizza flavor. It can be pizza without cheese…It can be pizza without a traditional crust (think Chicago) but pizza must have a fresh tomato taste and hopefully a little fresh basil.
I would not recommend this pizza flavored ice cream if you want it to taste like pizza. (unless your carton was made different….My husband also didn’t get pizza here)
Most likely I will be trying another flavor of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream the next time I’m at Walmart Grocery. Some of the other flavors they had were-
Blueberry Shortcake, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, Bourbon Cherry Jubilee (maybe), Planet Earth (? don’t like earthworms), Hot Honey (maybe), Royal Wedding Cake with Elderberries and Lemon (?)
We’ll see.
I do note that your opinion may indeed differ from my opinion on Leeuwen Limited Edition Pizza Ice Cream.
I can’t write about everything that I cook or I won’t have time to cook lol! Up above are brined oven fried crispy juicy turkey wings. I do them a few times a year and they are insanely delicious. I wrote about them a few times on my blog already but this is my favorite photo of them.
Recently I made beef shanks braising with bay leaves, tomatoes lots of vegetables and seasoning. I wrote about how I did osso buco a few months ago. This one was pretty much the same but was cut into thicker slices so I braised them for 5 hours. I also blended up the vegetables this time and made a celery leaf gremolata for it.
osso buco
Instead of the usual polenta or risotto that normally goes with osso buco I made sunchoke gratin.
It taste amazing and I learned a new trick about softening the sunchokes in cream…..That recipe that I followed added that cream back into the dish….I knew it wouldn’t work out…..but I did it anyway because I trusted the source. It was too much liquid ( and maybe too much fat) that broke my sauce…(could be a misprint….or maybe something was left out?) So with some of the remaining sunchoke gratin I made mackerel cakes with that sunchoke gratin.
These were easy to do and came out great! I first marinated 2 mackerel steaks in curry oil and fried them for around 5 minutes on each side. Cleaned up the skin and bones. Broke them down into chunks. Mixed them up with some of the sunchoke gratin, two eggs, a small amount of. panko and some dried fruit. Baked them off and they are pretty darn good! Actually really great! Topped the mackerel cakes with honey mustard.
Had a really nice filet mignon out at. dinner. Could only eat. half. The other half made two lunches.
I broiled off some baby bell peppers. After they cooled I cleaned them out and stuffed them with thinly sliced filet tossed with morita salsa, some pickled onions, scallions and some got cheese.
Made another eye roast….(last was in November).
The hardest part is to trim off all the fat and silver skin.
The FANTABULOUS Dish means – Top of the line, marvelously great, peachy keen, and DYNAMITE! The A.G. Burger from the Arrowhead Grill in Glendale Arizona is all that and more!
First of all it is on this nicely grilled fresh and slightly herbed high quality eggy bun that doesn’t fall apart. inside is a lot to describe. There is an eight ounce U.S.D.A. PRIME ground in house tenderloin hand formed beef patty that was perfectly caramelized and prepared perfect to my request. On top of that is six ounces of the greatest sliced prime rib ever and on top of that are tasty fried onions, a little bit of mayonnaise and usually Swiss cheese. Off to the side is a very good horseradish cream sauce. On the current bar menu this amazing burger is $22.95 (subject to change) but if you should happen to stop in at happy hour 3-6 the Happy hour price was only $12.99 (subject to change).
