UPDATE*******NOW CLOSED FOR BUSINESS.   Sonata’s Restaurant showcases Modern Lithuanian and Eastern European Cuisine. They also offer a full bar, a juice bar, take-out, indoor and outdoor seating. Sonata’s is a Glamorous Restaurant. The atmosphere is a mix of artsy masculine, feminine, woodsy with a dramatic open kitchen. In other words this is a NICE place. Even the glassware they use for water and iced tea is exquisite.

I tried the Potato Pancakes topped with house made Smoked Salmon.

This dish is listed as a small plate but as you see it’s not so small. The pancakes were different than I imagined they’d be. The pancakes were very light , seemed grease free and were not heavy a bit. The house made Smoked Salmon was clean tasting with a silky texture. What gave this plate that European Twist were the condiments of Shaved Brussels Sprouts Semetana (the cream) and Ljutenic (Ajar) a sweet and not so spicy vegetable chutney of peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and carrots. I thought this plate was very good and different.

My husband had the House Made Pastrami Hash with coal roasted Romesco Sauce, Eggs, Sauerkraut and Potatoes.

I noticed that the pastrami looked like how I make pastrami so I knew right away the pastrami was made without added nitrates because of the beefy brown color. I tasted a small piece of the pastrami and it was very mild tasting. It was more like roasted beef meets pastrami.

Somehow we managed to save room for dessert and we shared Crispy Sweet Cheese Pierogis.

The not-too-sweet Cheese Pierogis were nestled in this fresh tasting cloud of Hazelnut Chocolate Whipped Cream that was heavenly.

Service was over the top. Our waiter was there at all the right times, was very helpful and friendly. Almost everyone working there made conversation with us too. Everyone made us feel very welcomed. It was like being at a nice family’s home that cooks well.

I am looking forward to my next visit. Sonata’s Restaurant in Scottsdale AZ is certainly Worth a Fork!

Slight update….10-10-17 after a recent visit I had a very different experience……hoping it was a fluke…?
