Dining IN With DOGS Las Vegas NV August 2024

We try to take the dogs out to eat at least once a week but it has been too hot outside to dine out with dogs in Las Vegas so we are dining in. This is a combination of dining in with dogs and taking them for a ride to get a cheeseburger.

We took the dogs to a Jack In The Box and brought the burger home.

They get to eat about 1/3 of the burger without bread as a treat today and the rest over the next two days.

The dogs never refuse a cheeseburger!

The dogs also got to eat Thai Food from Amazing Thai in North Las Vegas.

They enjoyed Chicken Spicy Basil and Salmon Panang.

Then from Born and Raised Sports Bar in North Las Vegas the dogs enjoyed part of a Texas Burger.

and chicken from their signature salad.

Today the dogs got a cheeseburger from Five Guys.

Today we took the dogs to the In-N-Out to bring home a cheeseburger for them. They know the cheeseburger is coming from someplace inside.

Now at home they get to eat some.

We took out a cheesesteak WITHOUT onions (because onions are toxic to dogs) for the dogs from Those Guys Pies. We just give them some meat and cheese.

That was dining in with dogs for August 2024. We hope that you’ve enjoyed and we hope to see you next month.

Basilico Ristorante Italiano – Not Your Grandpa’s Italian Restaurant – Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork!

Basilico Ristorante Italiano is a Modern Italian Restaurant located in Southwest Las Vegas Nevada.

Inside is kinda modern mixed with a little bit of old fashioned.

They happen to have indoor-outdoor bar seating.

Inside they play old Italian movies inside.

Tonight they happened to offer a tasting menu that features flavors of Sicily so we decided to try that.

They started us off with a Yellowtail Tuna Tartare made with tomato relish, olive powder, fried capers, and lemon gel.

Next was an eggplant parmesan like no other.

Part of it is mozzarella mousse, tomato coulis and basil pesto.

After this are two generous pasta courses.

Lamb ragu rigatoni with ricotta salata.

Swordfish in long twisted pasta in romesco.

The main was a chicken marsala like no other.

The chicken is melt in your mouth tender as can be. The mushroom, corn, farro, side is extra tasty….

We took home the cannoli that were the sweet ending and had the table side parmesan gelato.

This sure isn’t your grandpa’s Italian Restaurant.

Made fresh to order parmesan gelato with lemon ginger cake, Vin Brule poached pear, Saba and something crisp and crunchy.

Notable Dish Of The Week – Salatim Platter from Safta 1964 By Alon Shaya Las Vegas NV – Worth a Fork!

It was difficult to pick one notable dish of the week since Safta really killed it with three notable dishes this week. The hummus could have been the notable dish simply because of it’s high quality taste and texture that you seldom get anywhere. Also the dessert sampler called Safta’s Delights is great enough to the notable dish. I went with the Salatim Platter that is a bunch of dips, spreads, vegetables, and fresh milled fluffy wheat pita because it was full of many delicious tastes and textures that are amazing. I really think just about anyone out there would love this platter.

The Salatim Platter

It’s one of the best, most delicious plates that you can find on the Las Vegas Strip.

Showing Off

Showing off is just to show that I am still in the kitchen. This week it was pizza, lemon poppy seed cakes, and brownies. I think most people like the pizza best. It gets inhaled real fast and I get the most Thank Yous for it.

Chocolate Chip Biscotti with Chocolate Drizzle

Pistachio Parm Crostini with Cheese/Onion Spread embellished with Romesco (red pepper/ almond sauce)

For at home I made two roast beefs. (of course the recipe can be found here) My husband hand slices them for me. The bigger one came out slightly more rare.

Eureka Discover American Craft Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try!

Eureka Discover American Craft has a location on Fremont Street in Las Vegas Nevada. This is a casual American Bar and Restaurant. It’s part of the El Cortez Hotel/Casino that is across the street. They offer things like burgers, fried chicken, snacks, salads, desserts, beer, small batch whiskeys, and cocktails. It’s woody and dark but not too dark inside.

We started out by sharing the Mac-N-Cheese Balls.

They are fried nicely and have a thin shattering crisp exterior. On the side is modern ranch dressing (modern means doesn’t taste like buttermilk). They have a nice kick to them from some a chili pepper but also have a Velveeta type taste too.

For my main I had the Al Pastor Tacos.

I got three well packed street sized tacos that are single shelled with a side of arugula salad. The fish (maui maui) isn’t fish house quality but does taste very good with the pineapple and addition of tomatillo sauce. It’s a very tasty platter.

My husband tried the BBQ Bacon Burger.

It’s pretty good. They prepared the burger medium-rare and they didn’t over cook the bacon. But they over cooked the bun on the one end.

Eureka not perfect but pretty good.

Buenos Dias Mexican Eatery – North Las Vegas NV – Worth a Try!

Buenos Dias Mexican Eatery is a casual order and pay at the counter type of restaurant located in North Las Vegas Nevada. They offer breakfast tacos, breakfast burritos and breakfast bowls. They also offer ten varieties of tacos, bowls, burritos, and quesadillas. Soft beverages are available here.

They do offer a variety of seating options. They have traditional tables, booths, counter seating, bar seating, and outside is a community patio.

The food is fresh made to order so it takes a while.

The rice and beans came out first. They were garnished with chips.

A few minutes latter the tacos come out.

There’s a carne asada taco with avocado, a salmon taco, a fried fish taco, a birria taco, and a pollo adobo (chicken) taco. The tacos in general are good but very heavily sauced. For my taste some shine a little more than others but none are bad. To my surprise the salmon is one of the better tacos. The salmon was fresher tasting than I expected it to be and is seasoned in a tasty way. The chicken tacos is also among the better tacos today. It is also well seasoned and very tasty. The asada is tender but maybe they forgot the seasoning? The birria is ok…..but they didn’t bring the consommé that goes with it till long after the taco was finished. The fish taco was ok but could use a little embellishment.

My husband ordered the shrimp burrito and asked for no sauce.

It was grilled nicely but came with LOTS of creamy sauce.

They made him another one without sauce and he said that it was VERY GOOD and he would get it again next time.

The Marlin Taco from Mariscos El Ancia is the first one that I have tasted that taste the same as Marlin Tacos I’ve tried in Jalisco Mexico. It just has the right taste. The right amount of smoke. It also comes dressed with the same sauce. It’s also generous in size and also is delicious.
