WTFORK Happened to the Christmas Candy Cane?

A long time ago in a land far away someone invented candy sticks to make noisy children shut the FORK up for when they are in church. It was also written that some German dude got the idea to put a little religion into the candy sticks by adding a Shepard’s hook.

Some time has passed and someone else got the idea to add hyssop flavor to the candy canes because hyssop was used in the Old Testament for purification and sacrifice. Maybe nobody wanted child sacrifice on their hands so they stopped adding hyssop to the candy canes. But maybe they changed to peppermint flavor because peppermint was cheaper?

Then they added the White Stripes.

Or was it the red stripes? Symbolizing the blood of Christ?

Maybe you noticed that candy canes often anything that’s NOT peppermint flavored?

Brisket flavored candy canes

Butter flavored candy canes

Sour cream and onion flavored candy canes

Kale flavored candy canes

Pickle flavor candy canes

Mac & cheese flavored candy canes

Sardine flavored candy canes

It doesn’t really matter WTFORK flavor that the candy cane is……If it’s in the mouth the kid with SHUT THE FORK UP!

Some time has passed….and someone got the idea to add hyssop flavoring to the candy because hyssop was used in the Old Testament for purification and sacrifice. Maybe nobody wanted child sacrifice on their hands so they stopped adding hyssop flavor. But maybe the real reason that they stopped adding hyssop is because they found that mint flavoring was cheaper (and tasted better).

Next change was that they added The White Stripes.

Or was it the Red Stripes symbolizing the blood of Christ?

Maybe you have noticed that many candy canes still have stripes but are no longer are mint flavored?

As time passed someone got the idea that they should add hyssop flavoring to the Candy Canes because hyssop was used in the old testament for purification and sacrifice. Perhaps nobody wanted child sacrifice on their hands? ……Or just maybe the real reason they stopped using hyssop was because mint flavoring was much cheaper and better tasting than hyssop so they switched over the Candy Cane recipe to be made with mint flavoring.

Some people believe the red strips were added to symbolize Christ’s Blood.

If you have been shopping for cane canes you might have noticed that Candy Canes aren’t actually flavored with mint all the time.

A Little Forking Story about The Christmas Candy Cane

A long time back in a land far away it’s said that children were given candy to shut the FORK up while in church on Christmas. It has been written that a person in Germany decided to put a little religion into these church given candy sticks. Later to make the candy seem more biblical someone decided to shape the candy sticks like shepherds’ hooks like from the dudes in the Noel Scene.

As time passed someone got the idea that hyssop should be added to the candies (the candies that shut kids the Fork up in church) because hyssop was used in the old testament for purification and sacrifice. Perhaps nobody actually wanted child sacrifice on their hands and maybe because mint was cheaper or probably tasted better than hyssop …they began flavoring the candy canes with mint because it was similar.

Some people believe the red stripes were added to symbolize Christ’s Blood.

If you have been shopping for Candy Canes you might have noticed that most candy Canes for Christmas aren’t actually mint flavored anymore.
